  1. The calipers/rotors on early cars suck. I've have several "moments" of fade and just plain lousy braking. I replaced the pads and had stainless braided lines made. It's time to find a brake kit. I know Brembo and AP have nothing because I am not willing to give up my 15inch bravo wheels for 17inch or larger. I believe Wilwood may have something for it. Anyone know of any or have any thoughts about this? Did the calipers change over the years since '78?
  2. I've fallen in love with the car. But not the convertible, just the coupe. Anyone have some info on these? I've already searched yahoo. I see what the convertibles sell for, hopefully the coupes are a lot less.
  3. I hope to god that the guy knew what Heritage Classics paid. Because anything over 50 or 60 would not have been worth it.
  4. I would consider buying it if he want to sell. But we all know what he paid. Get him on L-power, love to talk to him.
  5. Really nice!!! Nothing like a cruise in the mountains!
  6. If I didn't buy my Lambo, I was going to buy a gt-4 pantera. Flares, no skirts.
  7. Even if the car shows wear and chips etc....so what.....probably won't need as much as a queen.
  8. I spent over 25,000 AFTER I bought a running car. Clutch, carbs, cam timing, all line rubber and braided, paint engine compartment, fabrication and so much more. BUT now it is driven and has given me 2 years with no problem.
  9. As I posted on your other topic, wil degroot at exoticars-usa.com.
  10. I KNEW IT! I stayed at the kapalua bay hotel in Feburary. DAMN!!!! Should've stayed there. Nah I'm too cheap but kapalua was 450 a night and we stayed 8 night.
  11. Did I just see those on ebay? Was thinking of bidding as a spare set. Good for you. Wait that was Chad's auction.
  12. Well , finally I found some time to drive it and do a couple of things. The first is the rear trunk/boot inside light panel. All I did was buy some quality velour to replace the worn out black material. The reverse side isn't pretty but neither was the factory job. I'd love to use this material on the dash but light and dark when you touch velour doen't look good for a dash. Second is the front spoiler, I'm having one of my employees sculpt it.
  13. That is one nice house, love the open room to the outside.
  14. If you keep it, save your money....and a lot of it. Restoring is fun but can get expensive. I agree with reading up on the history of Lamborghini. To sell it, you're looking at or around $100,000. Depending on condition, it could be less. It's a very good investment, so sitting on it is only doing you good. It's been in the family a long time....hang on to it. I had one of those equalizers from the late eighties
  15. Yeah, I'd like to know too. I recovered my taillight cover inside the rear trunk. I used a soft velour type material. Chocolate color. Came out very nice. WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO PAY TO RECOVER THE DASH?
  16. That's a pain in the ass measurement to go through for a replica and I hate to do it. Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the few who likes some of the replicas. But 3 days off to measure all aspects of the car......just seems like you're stealing its measurements. Also the measurement you're asking for won't be near 100% because, at least my car, sits very low due to worn shocks.
  17. I believe it goes right back up next to the other one. Then throught the back of the roof to the other side and down. If you look on the passenger side you'll see it. Someone else can fill in the details of that.
  18. I'm going to have to say after the car assembly for that sunroof. I used to install sunroofs (electric too) in the mid 80's. That's pretty much the same thing. But the factory could done the same thing........
  19. My rule of thumb....always "expect" to replace a clutch when buying a Countach...take 7-10 grand off the price regardless of what the seller says. HOWEVER, a "real" Countach owner you can trust, especially ones with document. "Real" owners are guys like us in this community or this community knows who the "real" owners are. Uh, can you tell I was told my clutch was new.............
  20. Actually, I can NOT use the phone while driving. With the factory sport exhaust...it's way too loud....to talk on a phone. Yeah, I guess rigging something up is the best way to go. I can do this myself.
  21. terryjoint had it right, between the valve covers. I'm sure with all the stuff on the later cars it may be difficult.
  22. I just want to plug in my charger when my phone gets low.
  23. For months I've try ripping the lighter out so I can plug my cell phone charger into it. For months I thought the thing welded itself shut. I took the console off and tried prying. This would all make me a diiiiiiiiick. So recently I came to the conclusion that you cannot remove the lighter part and you have to press the lighter down and stick your cigarette in the center opening hole. Now, I don't smoke and came to that conclusion whlie messing with it and my finger touched the damn thing and it was....hot. So, on the early cars, how do I use my charger? One thought is to replace the lighter with a modern on. Second is to rig up something to the wire. Any suggestions? I'd like to keep the origianl in place but a cell phone well charged is far more important when far away in an old car. Can the original come apart enough to expose the bottom part? I'll take a photo to show those who are not familar with the antique countachs
