  1. FWIW, as it has been said the 918's 6.57 lap at the Ring was done with a pre-production car. The cars that went out to the customers have been upgraded and it's believed that a now stock 918 would be able to cut about 5-10sec from the pre-production cars time. Motortrend were for example one second faster round Laguna Seca with the upgraded car, and that's a 90sec lap. I was shocked when I heard that the SV did a sub-7min lap at the Ring and looking at the specs it's difficult to see how it could be so much faster than the regular Aventador. I hope the rumours about the tires aren't true though.
  2. I doubt it's the roof itself that adds weight, it's more likely the strengthening of the chassis that is the culprit. McLaren has a carbon tub which is a lot more rigid so less strengthening needed, the 458 sufferes from scuttle shake so maybe they didn't beef it up enough.. Anyway, very pretty car!
  3. Really enjoyed the video! Can't imagine how it felt to take delivery of that car.. Congrats!!
  4. I'm not blown away like I've been with practically all the new Lambo's in the last 15 years, but I'm certain it will grow on me. I love the front and interior, like the side, and ..don't like the rear, although it does help when the rear lights are on. The engine lid is the one part of the car which I just downright dislike. It's like they forgot to remove the plastic cover from the test mules.. A glass lid is expected to be offered later on right? Regarding the name and my limited Spanish, when converting it to Spenglish I would say it's pronounced "you-rah-kan". yea, that raised my pants alright.. WOW!
  5. I'm sorry, my comment wasn't directed at you. But now when I read my comment again I can understand if you would think so. I was just stating that things like that have happened before on this forum (not by you) and I tried to make a joke about it. Which clearly failed.... Go Gallardo!
  6. You certainly don't need any first hand experience of a Gallardo to be a part of that discussion, can't see how that would help. But that is something that comes up here every now and then.. If you disagree with someone over the name of a Lambo color or weather a Diablo is more expensive than a 575, and you haven't driven the cars in question, you can get the "you haven't driven the cars so shut up"-card in your face. It's quite funny. I was actually going to disagree with RB over his statement about the Speciale but realised that I haven't driven it so I couldn't say anything.. (just kidding, just kidding) Oh, and I like the Gallardo too.
  7. Did you even watch the videos? You know the ones which everybody is discussing in this thread?... It's called the strobe effect. The camera takes x numbers of frames/sec (is 48 the standard?) and this makes the wheels look like they go backwards/stop sometimes.
  8. True, but he went public with it and stated what every journo was thinking but was to afraid to say/didn't give a shit about. Why he did it is another matter but I think all "civilians" appriciated it. He did get increased exposure and rightly so. Now he is back in Ferrari's good grace so it was a win-win for him, the readers and the buyers. To say that he only did it for his own personal gain is something I've heard quite a lot, but I doubt that was the case. It probably crossed his mind but it seems people think less of him because he did this and that it was a bad thing to do.. which I find a bit strange.
  9. I think CH would be considered one of the most honest journalists out there after he exposed the biggest name in the business and knew that by doing so he would be black listed from reviewing their cars. He wasn't banned because he gave them bad reviews but because he called them out on their souped up press cars. They have apparently mended the fences now, but it would be quite interesting to know who said sorry first, Ferrari or Harris.
  10. I was really surprised to see that number for Sweden actually. We're only around 9mil people here so although the country itself is huge, it's not exactly crowded. However Monaco and Switzerland do buy a lot more cars/capita than we do as you said.
  11. Well if Lamborghini said that then this concept car must be compared to the 900+hp, no compromise hypercars that Ferrari and Mclaren are building.. The Rolls Royce Wraith costs about twice as much as the new 991TT and Rolls says it's "fastest and most powerful Rolls Royce ever". Should we compare them as well? The Sesto costs $2mil because they are building what, 20 of them? I'm guessing the the driveline is around 2-4% of the total cost.. When Lamborghini builds a true hypercar from the ground up (instead of putting on awsome clothes on a 10 year old skeleton), then we can start to bring the big boy hypercars into the conversation.
  12. No, they will be faster because they are purpose built to be the fastest streetcars Ferrari, Mclaren and Porsche have ever built. The Sesto wasn't built to be as fast as it could possibly be. So, why you are comparing them?
  13. Why? Isn't the point of the whole car (other than exploring new materials) to show how different/faster it is than a normal Gallardo with the same drivetrain?
  14. Renault's F1 car was and will be faster than the new hypercars as well, so I'm missing the point of your post. I was quoting Allan and was talking about the Pagani and the Sesto compared to the cars on the board. I think the F1 cars fast time was due to it having adequate rear damping, and mad downforce as seen by the balance it had throughout the lap. (just thought I would add something completely irrelevant to my post as well..)
  15. I think that says more about the Pagani than the Sesto, slicks or not. Both cars are quite a lot faster than everything else. Put slicks on the Sesto and you would probably shave 2sec off its time.
  16. The L4P thread is still there.
  17. Bit OT but do you have any pics of the RT12? I'm a huge fan of the RUF 911's.
  18. Thanks for all the pics and info guys! I'm really enjoying looking through this thread and hearing all the stories! There are really some awesome cars there but my favourites are definately the green and orange Miuras and LamboNutter's SV. Epic cars..
  19. Love that show! Can't wait for next season to start. Nearly every episode has a cliffhanger ending as well so you have to watch the next episode, and the next, and the next.
