  1. If memory serves, Lambo was contracted by BMW to build the M1. The design is all BMW. I don't think Lamborghini fulfilled the contract because of some issue (hmmm, lack of cash, perhaps?) and this was just one of several bumps in the road that the M1 had to deal with. I can't remember who actually built the M1's, maybe BMW? Somebody smarter than me jump in here. Jimmy Edit: Google is your friend. Giugaro designed the body, BMW did all the mechanicals. Lamborghini was contracted to build the car but because of shaky finnancial condition, could not fulfill the contract. The M1 was ultimately built by Bauer, a German convertible company. A total of 455 M1's were built.
  2. Exactly right. The truth is out there. Sadly, agendas will rule out it's appearance. Jimmy
  3. Actually it's not professional enough for me. Horst von Saurma (SportAuto editor) did 7:32.44 in a Carrera GT. Walter Roehrl (PROFESSIONAL) did 7:28 in a Carrera GT. So...back to Sport Auto times verses PROFESSIONALS. At least in a Plastic mess-06 (pro faster by less than 7 seconds) and a CGT (pro faster by 4 seconds), the score is pros 2, SA 0. My original point was that 7 seconds (or 4 seconds) on a nearly 13 mile track is minor, if you all disagree, then I'll defer. I would like to point out that 3 seconds covers a Formula One grid and that is never on anything aproaching a track as long as the ring. Jimmy
  4. I think GM would be smart to sell Hummer. The amount of bad PR they have gotten can't be worth the amount of trucks they are selling. It was funny when they first started selling the H2: Folks buy the thing and then bitch about the lousy gas mileage. Uh, it weighs 3 tons and has the aero of a building, what a surprise it gets 7MPG. Those people should have stayed awake during Physics 101. Jimmy
  5. Seven seconds on a 12 mile track... I was trying to point out the lack of a "Huge" gap between Sport Auto's time and the Chevrolet (Mangussen) time. Plenty of fanboys use the Mangussen time, I believe that's where the claims end. Sport Auto did 7:46 in the Gallardo SL (.64 MPH faster than the SA Plastic mess-06 time) and 7:47 in the LP640 (.42 MPH faster than the SA Plastic mess-06 time). Now the record is finally straight. And thank God the ZR1 time got published so everyone can get off the GT-R's back. I just don't understand why all of this is such a big deal. A time gets posted, believe it or not, why do all of you give a damn? So you can brag on the internet or be the latest little Ralph Nader? All this ankle biter, "GM cheated", "Nissan ran on DOT race tires with cranked boost", "Mangussen's Plastic mess-06 wasn't stock"...whatever. The time is posted, take it or leave it. The only way it means ANYTHING in a car verses car comparison is the above illustration (i.e. the SAME driver driving the cars in question). I'm going to bed, this is boring as hell. Jimmy
  6. Wrong. Jan Mangussen in Plastic mess-06 did 7:42.9 Sport Auto in Plastic mess-06 did 7:49 This equates to 1.3 MPH faster for a professional driver, hardly a huge gap.
  7. I doubt it. Jan Mangussen did 7:42:9 in a Plastic mess-06, SportAuto did 7:49. Six seconds on a 12 mile track seems fairly insignificant. Jimmy
  8. The Plastic mess-06 time of 7:42.09 was done with a stock Plastic mess-06 with Goodyear runflats in June 2005. Jan Mangusen was the driver. SportAuto did 7:49 in June 2007. Six seconds on a 20KM track doesn't seem that much Please post the source of your information regarding this supposed "tricked up" Plastic mess-06 and the other bulls**t that GM pulled. Jimmy
  9. Sorry, I was just letting everyone know what track the car was on. It will never happen again. Oh wait, it just did.
  10. Where is the engine on this car? It has hood vents (front engine?) and big vents in rear fascia (mid engine?), not to mention the large ducts in the quarter panels (ditto mid engine). Jimmy
  11. You are correct, I will kill my attitude , suggest the the same as you don't know me, and will chill and say bye bye (with no yelling) Jimmy
  12. Sorry, didn't mean to come across as "oversensitive". I didn't understand that the first post here was suppossed to start out with "Hi, I'm a newbie and I'm going to keep my thoughts to myself until I reach ....about 3500 posts." Check, please Jimmy
  13. So Vanha, Which is it, Corvettes are faster than whatever you own or is it just the standard, lame, jeolous, European excuses about corvettes: too big, fiberglass, etc...Also, the 7:56 time for a POS C6 was NOT posted by Dave Hill, he is the freshly retired chief engineer for POS. You obviously don't like corvettes which is your choice, however, do all of us own corvettes (and enjoy them) the honor of not calling them POS's. Thanks, Jimmy
