  1. I wouldn't bother with the 350, though that's me. My uncle recently had the 350, 500 and 600 as test cars as he is looking to upgrade his 05 S500, and got to have a look at them. I think he is going for the 500, the 350 just felt underpowered imo for how big a car it was, and the 600 while good - here it is $100k extra over the S500 and simply not worth it for his needs. All are amazingly comfortable - though I don't know what the current 7-series is like haven't been in one. Sorry no idea on any issues/ reliability with 07's, but his 05 has been fantastic as far as I know had no problems to speak of. Edit: Oh from last post looks like you've decided - what did you go for?? S500 I assume?
  2. Based on the 04 Cayenne we have at work (other than power output I don't know the difference between the Cayenne and S sorry) I would go for the Range Rover for more room, more capable offroad (imo) and generally just feels like more of an offroader than the Cayenne. That said, if it's just for road and a bigger vehicle, I'd get the Cayenne.
  3. maybe I'm misunderstanding but .. the LS460 is RWD. Are you saying the 460L is FWD???
  4. I wouldn't bet against it. We'll find out at Toyko this year. They've spent millions on development and have already scrapped one near-production-ready design I can't see them throwing it all away again.
  5. With any half-decent video editing software you could easily "speed up" part of the clip. Easiest way would be to remove every 2nd frame or something.
  6. I've always wondered, isn't it weird driving with a tacho that goes counter-clockwise?
  7. Forgive my ignorance of the SLR, I've never even been in one. But, if it were slower than the murci - all other traits handling looks etc as they are, except acceleration - would you guys still like it so much? I guess what I'm asking is, is it just the power of it that makes it a good car?
  8. Sorry not sure if this is a repost.. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/9/story....jectid=10443943
  9. I would love to own one, but have driven a couple as club days etc. I'm about 5'11" and though there is lots of room, have to agree with others if the top is on it can be a pain, I kinda of had to twist around and fall into it (watch your head), which would be a huge pain if you were in a tight parking space. I don't know if tha latest ones are any better but these were 03 and 04 models, and the trim and interior seemed a bit.. meh.. and had a sticker warning that the roof is water resistant not water proof, and that inside the cabin may get wet in heavy rain or something. But I've never been in one in the wet so don't know if that is just a joke label or not.
  10. looks a bit 'shopped too.. hmm maybe just jpeg artifacts.
  11. If it were manual I'd be tempted to move sooner just to buy it Haha, we'll see though. Taking extra classes now to get this stuff out of the way and get there quicker hah.
  12. Looking great! Will love to see some photos once it's finished & engine back in
  13. Mmm can't say I like what they did with the headlights
  14. I would go M5, I see these two in slightly different categories - the RS6 would be more an M5 competitor imo than the S6 when it arrives. If it were me I'd probably go RS4 and enjoy the big savings hah.
  15. A shame it's wrong-hand drive, keeping my eyes out for a good one
  16. I haven't seen it, but don't always take a comedy show's opinion on a car seriously. I wouldn't even think about one for any sort of actual motorsport, but as a nice, sporty luxury car they are damn nice.
  17. Buying new? I'd wait a couple months see what the 430s replacement, the 460 is like.
  18. Yep, that's the one. have had my eye out for a while (though only recently looking at Aus as well as NZ ) since an article in a classic car mag here mentioned that good ones can be had for under NZ$50k... do you happen to know anything about that red one ?
  19. Ok, so assuming I find a good condition, rust-free model, what sort of maintenance and running costs should I expect? What sort of service intervals do these have and whats involved - just usual oil/filter etc? Is there a workshop/service manual available? Thanks again for all help.
  20. Thanks again to all for the input, much appreciated. I will keep it in mind and ensure to be very careful before making a decision.
  21. Cost of regular maintenance, yes, but things like rust issues as pointed out above, is what I'm hoping to find out about before making a decision in case it affects affordability too much Thanks for all the tips guys, unfortunately there isn't much choice down here - this particular one is the first I've seen pop up for sale in nearly 3 years - so perhaps am better off forgetting about it since it sounds like the auto trans is a lot of bother on these.
  22. Would it be possible to convert an auto to a manual? Worth doing?
  23. Again, thanks. Yes, RHD. As far as I know there are none currently in NZ, but there are a couple in Australia which would be easy to import, but we are planning to move there in the near future anyway - thanks for the link also
  24. Ok, thanks for that. How do you guys see value on these, going down more or do you think they could go up at some stage?
