  1. So, I'm thinking about a Series 3 Espada ... to be honest I know little about this Lambo, and really it's simply that it's a Lambo within my price range that I'm considering it. I believe it's a 4-litre V12? The particular one I've looked at is a 1973, and automatic (I'm not uffsed from a driving point of view, unless there are issues with the autos). The car is older than I am, and 20 years older than any other car I've owned - so I really have no idea what I should be looking at. It has full log books and service papers with it, but I have not yet seen it in person. about 65,000km (~40,000miles) which seems awfully low for a 34 year old car. Is it even really worthwhile me looking into it? I'm not into collecting, I'd want it to drive it. Is it going to be a reliability nightmare? Any advice much welcomed
  2. The Potenza RE050's are fantastic value tyres. I would go so far as to say on the vehicles I've driven with them, they outperform the PZero's in a number of areas, though I don't know if that would hold true on a Gallardo. Not sure if they match the OEM speed/load ratings for a G (the RE050's are a 100Y, not sure what the standard G tyres are? a decent tyre shop can probably answer that one if noone here does first), but our local Porsche dealer seems to throw them on a lot of their cars here if that's any indication. That said, I hear the PilotSport 2s are awesome, but I've never yet tried them myself, so I can't comment on them.
  3. So you can't import any used cars until they're 15 years old? Not to derail the thread, but I've never understood this .. is that what it is? That would absolutely suck, though I guess it would help resale values a little maybe.
  4. I find the RX7's a bit lacking in legroom too, and I'm a little under 6foot. The R33 GTR imo is not as good a track car / racer as the R32, but is an awesome cruiser. It's heavier, so a bit slower off the line etc, but just a really nice GT imo. You really can't get even S15's up there??
  5. I'd imagine the production costs of the car would've been very high - the Skyline GTR was able to stay at least resonably affordable as it shared so many componenets with the lesser Skyline models. I saw a magazine article a few years ago that included Nissan apparently suggesting that if they'd had to develop and build the earlier GTRs as entirely standalone models they would have been 50% more expensive. Also, the MID4-II breached Japan's gentlemans-agreement of 280ps output limit that was in place at the time. Also, most people have found the RB-series engines more solid and accepting of high power outputs than the VG engines. And the official figures put the R32 GT-R as slightly quicker 0-60 than the MID4-II was (not by much though, 4.8 v 4.9), despite being rated with a lower output and being nearly 100kg heavier. Is it true? No idea, let me drive a MID4-II and I'll tell ya
  6. If you haven't make sure you drive one before you decide. I'm not such a fan of older cars, and the R32 just feels really dated to me. They're an 18 year old model now, and it really feels it. That said, they can still be made stupidly fast because that engine is just invincible.
  7. HAHHAAH that was my thought as well ..
  8. Maintenance shouldn't be too bad if it's been looked after, a friend of mine is looking to move from a 2000 BMW (not sure exact model, its a 3-series of some sort with M kit) to a 2001 DB7 and from his research it seems it would be only marginally more expensive maintenance than his current car. That said, they do look their age imo, but still very stylish cars all the same.
  9. Any preferences other than that - stay 2-door, prefer 4, don't care? If you really like what you've got but just after something newer, you could always go for a newer SL600 Me? I'd look to a Vantage or similar.
  10. If it was kept running for a reasonably long period after it overheated, it's possibly caused damage, but if it was shut off fairly soon after the problem occurred, I'd doubt it.
  11. ^^^ Yeah, I'd either go 997T + LP640, or instead of a 997T, change the M5 for a Carrera 4S or something, nice power for a daily driver but not G-matching territory, to keep the G special.
  12. From the replys in nima's thread over there, sounds like half their members are immature basement kiddies. Remind me to never read anything on that site again, thanks.
  13. Is there really much in it between them?? I've had a go in both (at street legal speeds!! so no idea top end) and really couldn't separate them...
  14. If you haven't already mate, drive one. Absolute blast! But not so much a light, 'chuckable' car if you're after something like that. They've come down a fair bit here lately, like that one you linked $58k. About 6 - 8 months ago every one I could find was around the $70k+ like this one.. Still, I'm hoping they'll drop to around the $48 - $50k mark but I really can't see it happening. Wow at $58k that's actually really tempting, assuming it's all genuine - shame it's in Welly, and I really can't justify the change yet lol.
  15. I don't know if it's a typical experience or not, but I used to work with someone who had a 2001 F360 with the 6speed, but after about 4 months sold it and got a 550 Maranello because he was having issues with stupid little crap breaking on the 360 - some speedo sensor I think it was failed that took nearly a week to sort, and similar little things. As far as I know he never had anything major that made it undrivable he was the sort to be really picky about things - if a part of the interior was squeaking he'd take it to get sorted. But yeah, he got fed up with it after a fairly short time - I believe he said it'd spent a quarter of the time he'd had it back at the dealer - and did the swap.
  16. There's a half-dozen GTRs for sale at any given time around here, but the good condition R34's are still well above brand-new-Evo pricing, which to me is silly. They are amazing lookers though, and I'd really hope to get a V-Spec II.
  17. As above, some people just prefer the look without badges - I don't blame them on this, I think the rear badge just disturbs the look. If you're thinking it's not a genuine GTR ... it is an incredibly incredibly accurate kit then
  18. These are awesome, depending on what the R34 market does when the new GTR is out, I might get one... awesome to drive.
  19. That does look really well done imo. Quite a popular replica conversion it seems. There are a couple I've seen around locally, too, and I am told one of them has a Toyota/Lexus V8 swapped into it (how the hell does it fit in an MR2?!) and it sounds much more authentic (though certainly not right) than the I4-Turbo.
  20. LOL At school, one of my friends tried to convince us all his 13th birthday was going to fall on Friday the 13th. A heap of people fell for it, too, but it just confused me - I was trying to work out how that could be when his birthdate was November 19th Anyway, on topic. Uhm, 23 no lambo yet Still not sure if this is current or future or ... ? What thread.
  21. Did I miss something? Bye buddy, please don't come back. haha that pic is awesome!
  22. So many awesome houses in this thread, wow. lol, yeah we get a bit stuffed in that regard - zooms a bit better over the CBD and such but looks like you're a bit out of the way there .. must be a nice view over the harbour there, gorgeous area The photos are brilliant, but really don't do it justice man, it's truly fantastic!! Would love to see how the new place looks - are you moving straight there from this one, or is it not ready yet?
  23. Impressive stats, but every time I see it I think it's the Hulme F1.
  24. What are you wanting to know about them, and what sort of 911 is it? Why do you want to make the change?
