  1. Evolution and STi.. bang for buck, very hard to find a better deal
  2. Come now, she's far from the only member on here who posts less-than-professional content. Does being employed by a sponsor mean that 24/7 she is their face on here? If so, then yes you have a point. But on the other hand, as I say others on here post questionable content at times, and more than once it has been others who are closely tied to either site sponsors or at least be known to represent certain companies.
  3. hah, Juggernaut already broke in and stole them all, so nothing for you to read! Or something ... hmm I think I'm getting sidetracked from the point of the thread.
  4. Maybe it was the Green Goblin, or Ben Reilly.
  5. Oh, oh, I know! Now we know that some posters on here aren't particularly diplomatic with their words? hah! Eh?
  6. While, for the most part I agree - I have to say, to me this thread, the original post, appeared to me to be a direct stab at Lambo SF, and was far from - in my opinion - the correct way to deal with changes in sponsorship agreements. You don't need to come out and go "hey guys, we're dumping Lambo SF coz I think they suck!" which is, in essence, the entire content of the original post in this thread. It's like spitting at someone and expecting them to smile politely and wave.
  7. To play devils advocate, of sorts ... aren't they helping the community by sponsoring the site so that it can exist in the first place? Surely the point in the sponsors is to provide the funding to keep the site running, thus without them, no site?
  8. The current CCX and CCR I haven't seen any real word of issues, though they seem to be so few in number it may be difficult to hear unless its major. The CCX drags 800hp out the 4.7-litre V8 with an 8.2:1 compression ratio - remember, it's supercharged, with boost at 1.2bar. The CCXR is going to be, apparently, running 1.5bar boost - this is probably achieved due to the cooler combustion from using the biofuel I'd guess. The pressure increase would account for the HP increase, so I'd say there's really no other major changes, it's probably mostly if not entirely the same block & internals. Either way, they claim the current CCX does a 1/4 mile run in 9.9s @ 235km/h ... oh, and it's probably quick enough for you to try that NZ speec record without modding it lol
  9. In most cars (excluding purpose-built convertibles of course), the roof provides a big chunk of the structural strength and rigidity in the car, as others have pointed out. Sure, you can do this, but you will need to ensure you have it done by someone who is VERY good at it, who fully takes into account the implications for the structure of the vehicle and can ensure that sufficient strengthening in the required areas is done. I have seen someone try to do a 'hack job' on an admittedly lesser vehicle (200SX SpecR) and the result was, shall we say, extremely damaging to the vehicle - the frame actually twisted and the car was written off during some enthusiastic (but well within the cars capability, prior to the chop) driving. Just be wary, and ensure you've got all that fully covered before you proceed. Like you, I don't tend to worry about resale value, so I'm with you on that one. But, why not just trade for a factory-built Roadster and save all the headaches, is it just the visual differences?
  10. I too had heard Modena were selling them, but I don't believe they are an official dealer as such - at least, they are not listed here on the Koenigsegg site as an official rep. In fact, Hong Kong is the closest listed there to either Aus or NZ. As for pricing, well, recently in the UK mag EVO, they had the Koenigsegg CCR listed as GBP407k and CCR at GBP370k. They also had the Zonda S at, I believe GBP350k, while it's NZ price is NZ$980k. I don't know how accurate a comparison it is, nor what the CCXR will come out at, but hey, maybe it's helpful
  11. What are you wanting to know? If I were buying one, it'd be the M15 - their latest model. It's not so much a barebones basic racer as the M12 variants (including the M400), but I'd still say it's as quick, if not quicker. As far as I know they're pretty much all using a Ford-sourced but heavily modified turbocharged 3-litre V6. The M15 has traction control, ABS, and 'creature comfort' stuff like electric windows that I don't think you could get on the earlier models, so weighs a little more, but has I believe about 30 - 35hp more than previous. In a straight line, I'd say the M400 would be the fastest accelerating, but the M15 by all accounts is a better everyday and track car. Various tests (Top Gear and a number of magazines) have managed better lap times in the M15 despite having slightly better straight-line figures from the M400. Their website is at http://www.noblecars.com/ if you hadn't seen it. I believe the M15 is the only model you can still buy as a new vehicle, if that's of concern as well.
  12. Cheers, I figured someone else had to have noticed I can't even change timezone to make the times right, though, as +12 is the highest lol
  13. Hey guys, at some point over the last couple of weeks (can't pinpoint exactly sorry!) all the times it shows me on the forum have gone out of whack. I've checked that my timezone setting is correct, GMT +12, in my control panel, and have it checked for automatic DST. However, all the times (at the moment) are 3 hours behind - i.e. its 9:45pm here but it will tell me I'm posting this at 6:45pm. Yesterday times were 2 hours out, and the day before it was 3 hours again. Is this some sort of known problem - it's not really a big deal just if there is a simple solution would love to know what to do! cheers
  14. No worries - did you click these thumbnails for full size, should be easier to see? Anyway, let me know when you're back if you want to borrow the mag or anything. The gist of the article is it's one of only 4 cabriolet BTR2's that RUF made, with 25 in total including the coupes and cabrios. Apparently rated at 619hp(456kw)/790Nm. They've got 0-100k in 3.7s and 0-200k in 10.9 though say it's claimed at 3.3 for the 0-100. Large turbo kicks in abruptly, which can be tricky to handle in less than ideal conditions. Apparently has a touch sensitive gear lever for clutch work, whatever that means, and suggest you don't rest your hand on the gearstick while driving - I guess it engages the clutch when you grip the stick?? They say it's really stable and solid when driving it gently (as in, normal use) but can be a handful if you really push it. They describe it as "Awesome" and "In yer face", but not "sensible". Who cares though, hah! The close to the article is that the author would choose the 996 C2 they tested against, saying "the silver smoothie [C2] would be more than adequate for my purposes, and keep me closer to the straight and narrow". Overall, to me sounds like one hell of a fun car haha, but not so suited as a daily driver which you may have guessed
  15. Maybe the pictures don't do it justice .. I hope. If it really does look like it appears, does it come with a free barf bag dispenser? Everyone who sees it will need one
  16. Sorry for the delay in getting this scanned in! (click for full size)
  17. Nice new ride, not very common and looks great. Nice to drive, too, have had a go in a 2003 one which I believe are much the same. I'm sure it will b loads of fun, and with a 280hp kit, wow!! Assuming it's the same as the ones we get in NZ, they're FWD, and (stock at least, no idea with that 280kit!) don't have too much trouble with torque steer that I've ver found.
  18. Awww, she still brokened? Or .. its not another incidentI hope? Have you gone off the BTR2, or still looking at that as well? Which reminds me ... do you want me to scan in the article on it from Classic Car?
  19. From what I hear that's the case, but have also heard some murmurs about a lightly boosted version as well though no idea how accurate that one may be. Either way, I've always been a Lotus fan, especially the Esprit, so really keen to see this one make the showrooms.
  20. Absolutely awesome car, they look fantastic and, just wow.
  21. I'm sure I have it somewhere, will go have a sort thru Is the car in Aucks at the moment do you know?
  22. Looks gorgeous, and I'd imagine it's close enough to that RSR you'd mentioned? If memory serves, that's the same car, RUF Off, as Classic Car tested two years ago. If not, it's damn close. They had a BTR2 in blue with the softtop... here's some video (quicktime format) if you haven't seen them. RUF 80 - 200 kmh RUF v 996 C2
