The new movie coming out in May "Speed Racer" (One of my all time faves when I was a kid) has wheels that are influenced by the Countach. The original Mach 5 from the cartoon has a very very close look of that wheel. I can't wait to see the movie!

Anyone remember the episode, with the huge truck of gold ? The truck with about 15 attached containers, was as long as the entire field of race cars.

That's the one that I remember! I think the truck was called the Mammouth.

Difficult for a wheel design from a comic book, and then television series in the '60s to be influenced by a wheel design for a real car in the late '70's/'80s...

I thought Speed Racer came out in the 70s? My favorite show growing up.

It was turned into a TV series in 1967, prior to that it had been a Japanese manga series (comic book).

Watch the cartoon now! And listen to all the exhaust tones!! All sixties LeMans sounds.

Could be that the Mach 5 wheels were copied by Lamborghini. :eusa_think:
