brandi Report post Posted January 28, 2009 Bentley will use the Geneva Motor Show to debut a new Continental based concept which will feature a bio-fuel compatible engine. Little is known about the concept as details will be released closer to it's auto show debut but what we do know is that it will be the company's fastest and most powerful car to date. From the single teaser image it is clear that car is built around the Continental GT or Flying Spur and it will feature several minor exterior tweaks such as a new front bumper with larger air intakes, hood vents, and darkened grille inserts and headlight trim. Judging by the fact that Bentley's most power model is the Continental GT Speed with 600bhp and 750Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque expect the new concept to offer a slight improvement over those numbers as well as a top speed greater than 202mph (326km/h) and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of less than 4.3 seconds. The greatest change should come in terms of reduced emissions and improved fuel economy, currently the GT Speed produces a hefty 396g/km of CO2 and has a combined cycle fuel rating of 17.0mpg (16.6 litres/100km). The company announced their plans for a bio-fuel future at the North American International Auto in Detroit by stating that in 2012 their entire model range would be bio-fuel capable. Check it out... Rouleur Report post Posted February 6, 2009 Ghey, how many more times will they try to revamp the GT... Thing that is scary for Bentley is that they have nothing new in the pipeline right now. That is frightening. They have now done a GT SPeed version of everything so how much more long in the tooth is this thing going to get? Destructo Report post Posted February 11, 2009 I like it. We'll see how it holds up. I like the GT, but that just my opinion.
brandi Report post Posted February 12, 2009 This car will produce 621 horsepower, go 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, top 200 mph and be able to run on gas or E85. It will also be 224 pounds lighter (4%) than the Speed GT. The car will be a two-seater with the rear area configured with a luggage-carrying upholstered shelf instead of seats. The two front seats are styled much like racing seats with carbon fiber backs, and exaggerated bolsters. Limited availability is supposed to be the draw to the car, along with the E85 capability. We'll be able to submit orders this April and the cars will arrive in October.
VCR Report post Posted February 12, 2009 Interesting...thanks for the posts. The revised look took away some "class" from the car but it'll probably be just as good in the real. It'll be interesting to know how much of a fuel economy improvement. The currently stated 17mpg combined is simply a joke (try half of that in real life and I know it's spec from Bentley; you were just relaying them). The current CGT series have an insatiable thirst! brandi Report post Posted February 12, 2009 Bentley says that the ability to deliver huge performance on flex fuel sends a strong "green message". The message isn't about higher gas milage, but rather much lower carbon emissions.
VCR Report post Posted February 13, 2009 ^Ok, thanks for the clarification. But with reduced weight, it should be slightly less thirsty right? Any fuel consumption reduction is welcomed for the CGT series.
