05LSV Report post Posted October 6, 2012 Do I need to get a 2010+ to make sure I have warranty on this thing? Do they break or what? Not buying right now, but looking for the shit of it since the wife likes them. Thanks...
Rouleur Report post Posted October 6, 2012 Buy one from a Bentley store and get the two year CPO warranty. They can do it on cars all the way back to 2007. Pretty comprehensive coverage. My dealers sell them all the time certified and I think the cost of the warranty is 6-7k for two years. Just a thought.
abolfaz Report post Posted October 6, 2012 Do not dare get one without warranty. Just to put things in perspective, get a price for a starter or even an alternator change, two simple items who's cost will make your jaw drop. I was in the same spot two weeks ago and had located a nice '08 for the wife in the low 80's but the car was out of warranty. I did my homework and quickly ran for the exit! DickSimmons Report post Posted October 6, 2012 Even without knowing the cost of repairs on these, it doesn't make much sense to pay that much more for a 2010 car unless you like something on the 2010+ car feature wise. The delta in price between a 2007/2008 and a 2010+ looks like $30-40K at a minimum. Even with high repair costs, it's hard to imagine needing $30-40K in repairs on a car due to how new and few miles they actually have on them. There's no guarantee, but I bet that you'd barely spend anything on repairs within a couple years of ownership. That is, assuming that there isn't a known flaw/fault to some part of this car that is extremely common. If you can get a good price on a CPO'd car at a dealer, that would be the way to go. If not, I'd just buy a used one out of warranty and take my chances. You're guaranteed to lose $30-40K on a 2010+ in depreciation over two years anyway. 05LSV Report post Posted October 6, 2012 Interesting thoughts for sure. Didn't think of CPO, but that makes good sense. The only bad thing would be that I'd have to buy from a dealer to get the CPO. How are Bentley dealers in your experiences? Service? Other?
05LSV Report post Posted October 6, 2012 Also, I've seen some 08 cars online going in the $115-$120k range. Is this about right?
VBUGKING Report post Posted October 6, 2012 I would definitely get a car with warranty. The GTs are really good cars, and probably wont leave you stranded, but that doesnt mean you wont be stuck with a lot of high repair bills for little stuff. 05LSV Report post Posted October 6, 2012 It's a 3yr unlimited miles warranty, right?
Rouleur Report post Posted October 6, 2012 It's a 3yr unlimited miles warranty, right? I think that there are varying levels of time and coverage. Most of the Bentley dealers I deal with are pretty solid, that said they aren't all solid. I guess it depends on where you are and who is around you. Take your time, find the right car, and get one with a warranty. I would not buy a car like that without one. Just my .02. Good luck. Camel Toe Juice Report post Posted October 6, 2012 Definitely get a warranty, a buddy of mine purchased a cgt and within the first 3 months he dropped 20k on struts and other miscellaneous items. He sold that car immediately afterwards.
Chipster Report post Posted October 6, 2012 Damn. I had no idea the repair bills were that bad.

Assman Report post Posted October 7, 2012 Damn. I had no idea the repair bills were that bad. 300k v12 British/German car? Lol. It's not a fcuking accord.
Chipster Report post Posted October 7, 2012 300k v12 British/German car? Lol. It's not a fcuking accord. The Gallardo has alternatives now for many parts so I figured Bentley had some as well (especially for a starter or alternator kind of things). Oh well! Dr. Noisewater Report post Posted October 7, 2012 I picked up a 07 GTC a month ago without warranty. Before I bought it I had it checked over for issues. We had the 2 battery's replaced and the alternator rebuilt "liquid cooled." Turns out the dealer was jumping the car for about a month as it sat in the show room which killed the regulator. Another thing I learned is about the convertible top lid and water leakage problems. There is a few computers and lots of wiring that can get wet and if that happens its a major nightmare. I think you will be fine with or without the warranty.

Would alternator, regulator, and electrical problems be revealed?
Dr. Noisewater Report post Posted October 7, 2012 Absolutely....I took this one to Rolls Bentley in Fort Lauderdale and felt extremely uncomfortable with the PPI they "said" they performed. There were lots of reasons for my feeling this way but long story short I didnt pay them a penny and took the car straight to Johnny at JCM Performance here in Fort Lauderdale, he does all my repairs so I felt good about it. He gave me a huge checklist of items he went over which were far more complete then just plugging the car into the computer and saying "All Clear!" He took the rear deck apart looking for water leaks, ran the computer of course, checked voltage, both battery's, looked at part numbers on the suspension pieces to see if anything was changed along the way plus so much more. He charged me 4 hours worth of labor but it was worth it for peice of mind. We found a few things to clean up and it was on the car dealers dime anyway. For the money its a great looking daily driver.
05LSV Report post Posted October 8, 2012 Did your car come with the bodykit and wheels on it? How many miles were on it web you purchased? I haven't done enough research to know what changes were present between 07 to 08 and 08 to 09. Any ideas? Thanks man!
