  1. . i don't know the driver/owner and i certainly don't know what happened, but i can tell you this, if participants in these events are NOT respectful of other people's lives, then someday... sooner than later, there won't be anymore of these events or even trackdays for that matter. Attorneys, municipalities, insurance companies and police will shut these down before they get started. The fact that we can participate in these events is a gift to us, something to appreciate. I don't car how much money someone has or how great his cars are, if a guy/gal puts others lives at risk, they are assholes, especially if they do it repeatedly. Sorry, life is a little more precious than that. Let's be adults here. i am a lone ranger.. but i like these events.... for about 2 -3 hours. I have been around the gumballers in the US (west and Indy) and Monaco for several years. Max is cool and the event is fun.. In 2006, VRAlexander invited me to vegas for the gumball vegas to LA portion. I flew from chicago to LA and picked up one of my motorcycles and rode to vegas and met the gumballers coming down from Utah. . We partied at hardrock with snoop and the next morning i had my female friend ride with some guys in a bentley because there was a possibility that i might run a little over the speed limit. I left hardrock (on my motorcycle) with the first 3 cars, a ford gt, i believe, Team Polizei's Alex Roy in a bentley and an F50. In town and the outskirts (enterprise?) the guys in these cars were driving like assholes. Local cars everywhere with heavy traffic, shopping centers, fast food joints. They were flying past other cars, passing at speed on shoulders and turning lanes. A total disregard for human life. Even on a motorcycle i could barely keep up. When we got out in the desert towards death valley it was GO time. I was on a sport touring bike that maxed out at about 140 - 150, same with the helicopter. On the straight sections they would leave me but i would catch up on the curves, traffic etc. After lunch at furnace creek, i reunited with my friend and we rode thru death valley, running with some other gumball cars until we turned off for palm springs. The group that i ran with for the first gold rush were mostly friends, we (two motorcycles and gold rush cars) left LA towards vegas and although we were running HARD, we were still respectful of other's lives. You can have FUN and not endanger other people. all i am saying is that some bad apples, whomever they are, will probably ruin it for the rest of us.. honestly, it's a miracle that MORE people don't die during these events..
  2. Your Aunt and family are lucky that you care enough and have the intelligence to make the right decisions. my thoughts are with you.
  3. Adrian Newey is a God. If i owned a race car , he would be my race engineer. He really knows his stuff plus he has a great driver! might have to see them in Monaco May 2012. F1's BIGGEST party.. lots of fun..!
  4. it IS right up my alley.. i do like the sound of a turbo busa better. (dump pipe) i was wondering that as well. maybe he likes attention. or because he is all over the raod and doesn't want to get run over..
  5. old .. could be a repost but still FUN..!! luv how easily the rear tire spins.. starting at the one minute mark. might need a supercharger for my busa..
  6. RIP Dan W. respects to friends and family. races like those are asking for trouble. over 200mph, 3 wide on a small oval. when open wheel race cars touch, usually one is going airborne. when a slower open wheel race car is hit from behind by a car traveling MUCH faster, the overtaking car is going to fly... FAR. i wonder in Dan W and others whose cars went airborne weren't paying attention (to slow down) or because of the high rate of closing speed and ever changing situation, couldn't change course in time.. more people could have been killed.. it looked bad and it was. what a shame.
  7. we were in Alaska this summer and one day we were glacier iceberg kayaking in the rain. memory card became corrupted and no card readers would read the data. i used this company to restore 75% of the photos. http://www.cardrecovery.com/ generally when traveling, i download all pics from my cards at the end of the day into a laptop but unfortunately i had a thousand photos on the card when it went bad. moral of the story: remove pic files often or use small memory cards to FORCE you not to put ALL your eggs (pics) in one basket. kind of like backing up your computer, how much can you afford to lose?

    Please bear with me

i know that you are an intelligent guy and you are taking this seriously.. That is a good thing. A friend of mine doesn't take his seriously and sooner or later it will bite him in the ass. Stick with your program and do what's good for your body. Learn as much as possible, internet etc and talk to the BEST docs. i am nervous about Diabetes and my sugar intake. I quit eating sugar about 2 months ago after our trip to Greece. Lost some weight and started a bit of weight training. Wasn't that hard. i still yearn for some ice cream or chocolate cake (almost an addiction) but i know that sugar is basically poison. Congrats to you on doing what you can for better health.
  9. pretty cool.. i like what he did with Tainted Love as well.
  10. it's the world's biggest PONZI scheme and unfortunately it's time to pay the piper. spending MORE money than you bring in is a receipe for disaster. only a matter of time. what politician wants to stand up and HONESTLY talk about all the pain that we have coming our way?? who would elect THAT person?? we all hope that this affects someone else but EVERYONE will feel the pain. CUTS in social security, medicare/medicaid, defense budget, entitlement programs, infrastructure, government including federal pensions, etc. etc. etc. and of course HIGHER taxes.. for every dollar the government takes in, it spends $1.73. how long can ANY business do that for? only the US government can. the spending must be cut 42% to balance. 42%!! ok, so say we balance the budget, (it sure will be fun when LOTS of people are receiving MUCH less from our government), we'll still have a $14 trillion dollar DEBT.. check on the INTEREST on the DEBT.. http://www.usdebtclock.org/ it's only a matter of time before those working won't be able to support those not working.. things ain't looking too great.. btw, the whole hullabaloo with obama and congress was about RAISING the debt ceiling..!! do you think YOUR kids are going to live better than you do?
  11. a few thoughts: every modern, everyday Ferrari, from 360's, 430's, 458's is going to depreciate. just a matter of time. it's like musical chairs, if you are holding onto a Ferrari when the music stops, it will cost you money. (depreciate) it's all a game that has pissed off LOTS of potential new Ferrari owners. would i purchase a new one (that i intended to keep) for "market price" meaning $70K - $75 OVER list... NOPE, no way. I would consider that a waste of money, but to each his own. Here's how it works, to purchase a new 458 for list you have to really TIGHT with your dealer.. usually meaning you have purchased other Ferrari's from him. If you aren't tight with your dealer, it's market price time.. additionally, if the Ferrari dealer in my town sells me a new Ferrari, the car must go back to him when i am done with it, or i won't be getting any more new Ferrari's from him. To further cement your bond with the dealer, the Ferrari dealer will sell you a 430 while you are waiting for your new 458 and the dealer will tell you how much they will make on your trade back in.. Profit is good.. i also love that you must purchase your new Ferrari from the area that you live. Multiple homes in different locations brings the same game. All Ferrari dealers across the US have an agreement and have the same methods. the 458 is a spectacular car, with very few equals and it will interesting to see what you replace it with.. me? i expect to purchase one, USED..!!
  12. we don't go to any movies anymore either. netflix and apple tv have taken over our movie theatre room but i was considering going to see this film as i am a fan as well and thought it would be a good BIG screen movie.. thanks for the review and i love the "and I dont have 256 assholes all around me...." ... comment..
  13. a very unfortunate incident.. seems like a very well liked guy.. R.I.P. his car sounded FABULOUS.. !!
  14. that is FUNNY but scary.. just returned from Greece, POUNDED the deserts.. fresh Baklava, fresh Loukoumades (fried dough and honey) and fresh Chocolate croissant every day.. and sometimes, homemade waffle with honey and ice cream for desert. (everything is FRESH there) if i cut out deserts, it's a fast 7 pounds alone,, it's time to pay the piper and have been thinking about doing some juicing.. keep up the good work guys..
  15. how's this for a ride along?? how about riding along backward at the Texas Mile ..??? i like how he hits the gravel road (at the end) at about 60 mph
