  1. Hello all, There was a thread I was reading a few weeks ago discussing a potential salvaged car that someone was considering buying. I know that doesn't say much since there are TONS of those threads. However, there was a member that posted a link to a website which did a free title search and would check if the car was salvaged or not. IIRC, it also gave a little history on the car, but not as detailed as Carfax. It was a great site to quickly check a VIN before you ran a Carfax report and did more extensive history homework on the particular car. For the life of me, I can't find that thread and I don't remember exactly which car was being discussed on it. I've already spent quite a bit of time trying to search it with no luck. If anyone happens to know that site or remembers seeing that thread......Please point me in the right direction. I would really appreciate it! Thanks!
  2. It's back! Now at $65K or make offer. LINK: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lamborghini-Gallar...3847371?vxp=mtr
  3. I'm on board with others here. The 6.0 conversion looks good!.....I would leave it and enjoy as is. If you have the original parts, maybe just hang onto them. If the Diablo ever skyrockets someday like the Countach, it might be worth considering converting back. However, in today's current market the numbers just don't make sense imo.
  4. lol! More accurate results and costs less than carfax too!
  5. Wow! This car got pretty jacked up! Thanks so much for the info!....and for saving @ss!! A friend of mine has been considering a 360 and I pointed him to this car. His budget is around $60-70K and this one fit his price range perfectly. He actually would prefer a Lambo, but they have all been out of his budget. He doesn't mind doing some work if the deal was right, but this car has too much of a bad history to even consider. This car doesn't even "deserve" a clean title.....I'm wondering how it holds one? There are salvage titled cars out there with only a small fraction of the damage of this one. Thank goodness for the day and age of the online forums! What would we do without a community like this! Thanks guys! A thanks to you too sonict.
  6. 2007 Gallardo Spyder $69,500 on Ebay. Clean title. Has light front end damage. Doesn't look too bad in the pics. Seems like a decent deal.....especially for a DIYer. LINK: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lamborghini-Gallar...em=271963303702
  7. I've been keeping an eye on the Mecum Auctions going on in Monterey. An orange Miura S came up for auction and then it clicked.....Could it be the same one I saw being trailered recently? Sure enough, it was the same one! Check out the license plate on my pic I posted recently and the auction pic. It hammered at $2.3M yesterday! 8. Great pics! I can see this as the start of a very great thread! I like your Murci plates whiteout.
  9. http://www.motortrendondemand.com/ This link works. On Redlambo's post, the last parenthesis got accidentally stuck in the link. I'm going to try and sign up. Thanks Redlambo for the post. Very cool to be able to see this live!
  10. Anyone ever heard of what ever happened with this car? Apparently it did sell to someone as we haven't seen it for sale again. I would be curious to hear if it ever got saved or how the project is coming along. Here's a link to the last auction that ended on February 19: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1991-Lamborghini-D...=p2047675.l2557 http://s1154.photobucket.com/user/carsinba...rt=3&page=1
  11. San Mateo, CA -Orange Miura S Spotted Today...... Saw a beautiful orange Miura S being trailered over the San Mateo Bridge today at about 2:40pm. I've never seen a Miura in the "wild" and on the streets before, but this is about the closest for me. Only at shows and concours have I gotten the rare treat. That bright orange and those body lines caught my eye from way back and at first I said to myself...."no way", but sure enough it was really one! The truck and trailer was being driven slowly in the slow lane (understandably), but not too far up ahead was a black Ferrari Testarossa also in the slow lane being driven slowly. Can't help to maybe think there's a relation? Does this Miura belong to anyone here? If so, I just wanted to say what a beautiful car you have! Nice TR too if that's also yours. Thanks for making a boring drive a little more interesting today!
  12. You can give AAA a try, but with complicated transfer titles, vehicles off the record on the DMV system, lien sales, etc......AAA doesn't handle these types of transactions. They state that they offer simple vehicle renewal and transfers as a convenience and are not a full DMV service. Most likely they will just send you to the DMV office. This is what happened to me. However, they were able to look the car up in the system and give me some info on the car. Definitely worth a try to go there first though! I've also heard of people buying cars like this and transferring/registering in their name at their out of state address. DMV's in some of the other states are much more lenient I hear. Once the vehicle was titled and registered in their name, it was real simple to bring it back into California. I've heard that they were able to avoid the back fees and penalties and would have been due here in California as well. Unfortunately I didn't have an out of state address to try this with! The only drawback I hear is that you might have to physically take the vehicle to whichever state you're registering it in for a VIN verification. Makes sense though.
  13. I've been through this same scenario before. I'm in California as well and was also dealing with the California DMV. Basically, this is how it works: 1) According to the DMV, they need to see the COMPLETE trail of owners from the person on the title, to the current owner or person trying to title the car in their name. (Which is you in this case) From the sound of it, there is only one guy in between which is the person you're buying the car from. However, if it had exchanged hands a few times in between, you will need to track down however many people were involved. You will need to obtain a Bill of Sale or a completed Vehicle/Vessel Transfer Form from each owner showing who they bought it from, who they sold it to, and how much, then ultimately ending with you. DMV WILL know how many people were "in between" as they will have records of Release of Liability forms which owners had submitted each time the car was sold. Unless an owner never submitted this form, which would be foolish on their part. So, when you arrive at the DMV, you may be in for a surprise on how many owners you might need to track down. I had the unfortunate experience of this surprise! 2) Next, DMV is not known for giving a break on fees and penalties. They will want their money!! You will have to pay the transfer fees, sales taxes, penalties and all other associated fees in between for each and every transaction/owner which was not formally done. 3) The car has been sitting and no DMV activity has been done in 7 years? IIRC, 7 years or more is when the vehicle falls off of DMV's records. In that case, you will need to take the car into the DMV or CHP, obtain a VIN verification and then apply for a new title. Basically, the car will be starting out life again as a new car in their system, equivalent to a brand new car from a new manufacturer. I believe in this case, all of the previous fees will be erased since the old history of this car is erased. I'm not 100% sure, but I think DMV also makes you take out a bond on the car just in case any fishy history turns up at a later point. However, keep in mind that even if nobody has registered, paid fees or turned in any forms associated with this vehicle within the 7 year period, a simple phone call with an inquiry of back fees or registration status will RESET the 7 years wait time! I found that info out directly from DMV! 4) If neither of the previous owners have submitted a Release of Liability form each time the car had sold, technically you could fill out the back of the blank title and say you bought it from the guy on the title. You could avoid all of the fees in between, but you will also be penalized for not transferring the vehicle into your name within the 30 day time period from the purchase date. The purchase date will obviously be the date in which the owner signed off on the title. The penalty iirc will be based on a percentage of the total fees and penalties due including the purchase price sales tax. Don't forget, there is also a legal liability with doing this. First, this IS what they refer to as title jumping which is illegal. Secondly, you are responsible for anything that happened with the car in between the time when the title was signed off and now. Worse case scenario......Let's say the vehicle was involved in a hit and run or used as a getaway car and was stowed away for years? You will be in trouble as you supposedly owned the car at the time. I hope this information helps. Good luck!
  14. Lookin' really good slownrusty! I love how the rear wheel/tire really fills in the wheelwell to the edge!
  15. Has anyone tried adjusting their instrument pod with this button and actually get it to move? I tried it in my car and the instrument pod is totally solid! I can't get it to move at all, even by pushing on it fairly hard. I see how it supposed to slide up and down in the owner's manual, but it's definitely not happening on my car. I don't wanna push any harder for fear of damaging something.
  16. A woman is concerned with deer crossing the road and causing accidents. Her attempt to remedy the problem! LOL! https://www.facebook.com/OrganikRap/videos/...53364540404438/
  17. Never heard of Nikki Glaser. She's pretty hot tho!
  18. How about the comedy of Lisa Lampanelli?? Yikes!!
  19. Wow! Fantastic job! Great detailed write-up and pictures. Thanks very much for posting. This will definitely come in handy when I'm ready to do this job myself. What a great upgrade with the aluminum 6.0 handles. I didn't even know about those. Thanks again!
  20. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271880653181?_trks...K%3AMEBIDX%3AIT In the description it says: "Built by professional replica company, and the pictures say it all!!" I guess that statement IS true! Looks like it has the big brake rotor upgrade kit too. This is the new braking technology that doesn't require any calipers either!
  21. I have some more questions on the factory tool kit for an early Diablo. Any input/info would be appreciated! 1) I've recently learned that my 1991 came with a factory Hella emergency worklight that plugs into the cigarette lighter. These lights seem to be fairly rare as I didn't know they came with one and others I've spoke to didn't know this either. What years/models came with this model of light? Countach? Later Diablos too? 2) Original Can of Tire Inflator: Which one was correct for a 1991? Is it the can with the Lamborghini emblem, in black and white with the words "Tyre Inflator" on it? Or, is it the one with the red, orange, yellow and the 3 white tires on the design that only says "Ripara e gonfiagomme"? What kind of case/pouch came with this can? The black nylon case with what looks to have velcro and 2 plastic buckles? Another case I saw looks to be a black thinner bag type one. Or, for 1991 is there a leather case that would match the outer tool kit pouch? I saw in one picture what also looks like a formed styrofoam holder for the can and a grey colored pouch with a flap on top that opens up? What exactly is this can of tire inflator anyway? Is it essentially a can of Fix a Flat? 3) The tow hook bracket: What exactly does this assembly consist of? Looks like it has the main bracket and two pins? Where does this thing attach to on the vehicle? I don't see any mounting points underneath my car. 4) I've also seen a replacement light bulb and fuse kit in a black and clear box? Is this correct for a 1991? What exactly comes inside of this kit? 5) Does the original kit come with replacement drive belts? I've seen pictures of some complete kits with and without. Essentially, I'm curious on everything that came in the tool kit with my car when it was new. Is there maybe some sort of factory list with the part numbers? Thanks very much in advance!
  22. Thanks for the reply and for the info! I appreciate it! I'm not sure the 80's/90's have anything to do with it though. It seems that it all depends on the manufacturer as the stock units for the Gallardos are still code protected. Both the cassette decks and the nav units.
  23. Thanks! Yes, that would be great! Also, do you know exactly what is involved with this changeover? I remember reading an thread way back when and IIRC, there was more than just removing the old pod and installing the new one? There were some wiring mods as well I believe. Are you able to use the same gauges? Or, are new ones required? I remember when I was reading about it, I got kinda turned off as it was fairly involved. Maybe that was only one person's experience? I would also be interested in a rough cost of the parts as well. Thanks again!
  24. Is the original Murcielago Grundig head unit security code protected? Would it be useless to buy a used one without the code? Thanks.
  25. I haven't tried it as of yet. Do you get any movement of the instrument pod at all? I would imagine that there isn't much room for a lot of adjustment there.
