  1. https://autos.yahoo.com/news/watch-2-000hp-...-140423151.html Watch a 2,000HP Lamborghini Gallardo Drag Race Into a Pond Boldride By Zach Doell 6 hours ago The Lamborghini Gallardo is by no means a slow car, but that hasn’t stopped tuners from bolting on huge turbochargers and giving it more get-up-and-go. This twin-turbo Gallardo is one such car, and at this weekend’s WannaGOFAST runway shootout in Ocala, Florida – it did just that. Except it didn’t stay on the track. After damaging its rear diffuser earlier in the day, the driver of the 2,000 horsepower Lamborghini gave the car one last run at the half mile, lost control of the car, and careened headlong into a nearby retention pond. Luckily, the driver was unhurt and the car appears not to have suffered any visible damage. Take a look. Damage on a car like this means a massive repair bill, especially considering this Lamborghini, known as the ‘Heffner Gallardo’, started out life as one of the limited edition Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradales. In essence, it’s a road-going version of Lamborghini’s Blancpain Super Trofeo racecar. That meant 570hp, zero to 60mph in less than 3.4 seconds, and a top speed of 199mph. Now it dials in over three times that horsepower and notches top speeds in the 220 mile per hour range. You wouldn’t say it’s exactly a sea-lover, though.
  2. Sad. Sorry to hear about your troubles! I hope everything gets worked out in the end. Whether you fix this one or get rid of it and get another........Don't give up on Lambo ownership! When you get the right one, the experience will definitely be enjoyable and worth it!
  3. Great vid! Thanks for posting. IIRC, there was a pretty in depth video done by Harry while he was at the 50th Anniversary. He went over details on his own car, plus a walk around discussing details about other Lambos that were attending. That was also a very enjoyable vid.
  4. Great Video! Happy New Year Everyone!!
  5. Wow!.....I can believe how high the bids are going on these. That one with the Baboon's ass is currently at over $38K! Then, check out this beautiful Aventador Roadster currently at over $32K! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-...=US_Cars_Trucks
  6. Murcielago LP640. Or as described "MERCIELAGO LP640" http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-...=US_Cars_Trucks
  7. Thank you. Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays everyone!
  8. That's fairly old news, but still just as shocking! There's a guy that had engine trouble with his Porsche 911 and "killed" it with a firing squad. Crazy owners!
  9. Chipster: That was exactly what I was thinking before, and I see you posted it already. I know I've been back to some of those threads on Countaches and I still kick myself for not buying one back then! haha! Back to the original topic of this thread........It seems like this car has a few things in its past, but it doesn't seem like anything real major has come to light on it, even through discussions. Still seems like a decent buy for the price in today's market. Def a much better deal than the one that has been discussed here for $79K with a rebuilt title: http://www.lambopower.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=74281
  10. It seems that most owners have this same issue when it comes to the history of their car. Quite a few show odometer discrepancies and it's usually to do with the entries between KM and miles. On my 1991, the speedo shows graduations both in KM and miles, so people who don't know will just assume they are miles. I would consider this a non-issue with this particular car. Seems like a decent deal in today's market........especially since it's complete with the tool kit, owner's manual, and the rear spoiler.
  11. Seems decent and the price seems decent too. Looking at the CARFAX, it looks like it has changed hands a few times and has been a part of a few dealer's inventory, but overall seems okay with no accidents or anything else alarming. Imo, the seller should put up more detailed pics, plus a better and more in depth description though.
  12. That's a great story SingleSeat! I love it! I see a pattern here........almost everyone has made a connection to their childhood and the passion for these cars started early. Very cool! I have a 3 year old nephew who also has a passion for cars at his young age. Everything revolves around cars for him at this point. I just know someday that he's going to own an exotic car too, and I wouldn't doubt if it was a Lambo! For me, it was no different. As a kid, I had the posters on the wall too, watched Miami Vice, read the magazines, etc. I think the one that really left an impression on me as a kid was that TV show Automan. It was a crappy show and didn't last long.......but the car definitely left a lasting impression. I really didn't know what the car was on the show and I thought it was just some fictional car. It was just too wild looking to be real. Only to realize later that it WAS real!......It was a Countach! Looking at a Countach in magazines, in pictures and on TV is nice, but the first time I ever saw one in person, it was heartstopping! I couldn't believe how amazing it looked in real life! Lamborghini seems to have the same goal in mind when they design a car.........which is to stir up people's emotions when they see it. Even to this day, you can see that same look in people's eyes and smiles whether they're a kid or a senior citizen!
  13. Ran across this on CL. A little too accessorized for my tastes and a has number of drawbacks imo........but it may fit someone's "needs". I'm personally not a fan of the wheels, pin striping or the side logo. Price is on the lower side, but looks to have a rebuilt title and also needs a clutch. Probably not such a good deal after all of the needed work gets done! Looks like the owner is open to offers though. http://palmsprings.craigslist.org/cto/4705074388.html =============================================================== DIABLO LAMBORGHINI 1991 SPECTACULAR CAR - $79000 1991 lamborghini odometer: 26200 fuel : gas transmission : manual title status : rebuilt 1991 Lamborghini Diablo automobile , ITALIAN MADE beautiful black with red exterior , black & red interior $15000 in Custom Asanti wheels , odometer showing 42000km which equals 26000 miles, car looks and runs great,( clutch will slip if you accelerate fast) but normal driving its fine) last owner owned car 15 yrs. 14. Flowmaster Exhaust Helps Student Get Laid....
  15. Thanks for the info on the bolt differences. Thanks for the comparison pic too! I am planning on installing Diablo 6.0 wheels on my '91. Any idea on if I will run into the same issue? Do the 6.0's use 14mm lugs? Anyone know?
  16. Thanks everyone for the feedback. Definitely agree that these Diablos are a lot of car for the money! Essentially a bargain. My friend is currently in between this car and a 1992 that is being sold locally for $90K. I think he's leaning more towards the 1992 since the history is well documented and he likes the color more (black). We were hoping to find some more history on this yellow one or perhaps be able to make a connection with a previous owner. Thanks again for all of your feedback.......we appreciate it!
  17. A friend is considering this 1991 on Ebay. The bid is currently at $86K with no reserve. I do remember seeing this car for sale on Ebay awhile back at $99K or something around that price? It looks and sounds in decent shape and the Experian AutoCheck also looks good. What do you guys think? Anyone know the history or know the owner? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks! 18. Ran across this on Craigslist. Not mine. A little too much "accessorized" and customized for my taste, but I thought I'd share. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/4597255812.html 1994 Lamborghini Super Diablo California Speedster - $99999 (santa ana) This is the one of one only made ,1994 Lamborghini Super Diablo California Speedster with 2600 miles ,V12 Twin Turbo with 750HP ,this car is 7inches wider than normal diablo ,i am going out of country and want to sell this car ,no other cars can compete with this monster ,email for more info ,only real buyers
  19. Wow. Looks like they did track the owner down though: http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2014/06/10/...w-jersey-crash/ http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/lamborg...-crash-24070106
  20. Evans Automotive in OH and Evans Coolants have nothing to do with each other. They just happen to share the same name. http://www.evanscooling.com/products/coolants/
  21. I see you've still got a few things to do on your list. I'm looking forward to seeing those things too! I noticed that you've been doing some fairly extensive research on different oils and trans fluids. Are you planning on using any special coolant? I have been thinking about running that waterless coolant made by Evans. I've heard good things about it, but I've never met or talked to anyone that actually has used it. It's supposed to be used straight and contains no water, hence there is no corrosion.....Ever! It's also supposed to be a lifetime coolant and you never have to change it. Definitely sounds good. Jay Leno reviews it on Jay Leno's Garage:
  22. Thanks so much Chipster for the detailed description of your operation! I can pretty much see exactly what you did (in my head) as I read each of your steps. There's some fiddling to do, but for the most part it's re-adjusting everything as you remove the engine, and double checking as you progress, to make sure everything clears. Glad to hear that you really don't need any special or super expensive lifts for this job. I have to say that you have some big ones to do it all on your own though! My hats off to you, because you did it, and did it successfully! I will definitely get some help when it's my turn though. I'm chicken! With each bolt you that you turn and with each part that you install yourself....you can feel good that you are learning and saving a bunch on labor at the same time! I had a Ferrari 308 before my Diablo, and this is exactly how I learned about it. Bought a manual and read it, Googled it, asked questions and looked on forums, then I would dive in and just do it. I'm still no expert, but I got to know the 308 pretty well, and I would now feel confident to tackle pretty much any problem with one. Thanks again for the thread. I will definitely be following it!
  23. Wow.....With everything basically gone through in 2010, after you're done with this current refresh, you won't have to worry about anything for a good long time! I saw your latest postings and pictures for the fuel filters and clutch. Good job! I'm learning a lot here! Overall, nothing looks really that bad to disassemble. Just some patience and good documentation on how things come apart, are probably the main requirements. Googling and asking questions (as you mentioned) are also essential. Thanks to the forum and the great people here that are willing to share their knowledge......we are able to do these kinds of jobs at home. You know, one thing I was curious about was when you removed the engine/trans assembly. The new hoist you bought was obviously able to clear the bodywork, but did you happen to have a picture of when you had it lifted at its peak? Did you make or were you able to borrow the lifting fixtures? Lifting the engine up and out would be the most intimidating part of the job for me. Everything else I would be more comfortable with doing. Your clutch does look good..........are you changing it anyway since you have it apart? How does your intermediate shaft look? There was a previous post in which someone posted a picture of one with stress cracks. From what I understand, there is an updated/stronger shaft available if you need to replace it. Keep up the great work!
  24. Great job Chipster! Everything is looking great! I haven't been on the forum in awhile and I just found your thread earlier today. I started at page 1, and have been going back to computer everytime I had a chance throughout the day to read all the posts. I finally got to the last page a few minutes ago. I think the blue color scheme on your engine looks good! Very unique! The blue wires will really look sharp! Great idea on re-finishing the rear grille with the plastidip too, the finish came out nice! Then your wheels........the black pearl lips really make them stand out! This thread is of special interest to me since my car is also a '91. Thanks for starting it and for the detailed documentation with pictures! I always told myself that if I ever needed to do an engine out service, I would also be tackling it myself. From your diary here, I am seeing what I will be up against. Keep up the great work! Looking forward to following more of your progress!
