  1. Beachbummed - where (state) are you in? PM me. 1. You can upgrade but you have to do some wiring. When u PM I'll give more info. 2 & 3. I purchased an 18" acrylic saftey mirror (the kind used in warehouse for blind corners, etc). Cut a pattern of my outside mirrors, then cut the saftey mirror to shape. I took double sided 3m tape and attached the new mirrors..the plexiglass is very light and they hold up perfectly. The mirrors give 160 degrees visibility each (180 is a straight line), so you virtually have Zero blind spot and even can see a car next to you at the same time. The mirrors take care of the blind spot while driving, but I had a problem with backing up into a parking spot and judging distance (I know how to do the door open, hanging out routine - but sometimes it looks akward). Anyway, for this the back up camera works. The key is to get a camera that does not distort the distance, as most are wide angled used for blind spots while driving, and not "real distance" imaging. I can give u a few leads or do a google on back up cameras. You basically have 2 choices - a cam built into the license plate frame or a bullet style (which I have) that fits neatly into the rear fan grill. Most cams on the market come pre-wired with a standard VHS RCA jack and are 1 or 2 Lux, meaning you can see in the dark with them. For the head unit - Either Alpine or Pioneer. Both are camera ready and have features that allow the cam to come on automatically when you put the car in reverse. Pioneer (IMHO) is easier to use with a touch screen menu - but I went with Alpine to keep my car to original specs (came with Alpine). Go to Circuit city just to check out the features between models. For example, some have the screen, but if you want to change radio stations, you have to close the screen, change stations, then open the screen again - while others allow you to switch stations with screen open. The first thing I would do is the mirrors. It's easy and cheap. I think the mirror was about $50. I took some kitchen Glad Cling wrap and stuck in on the mirror. Drew a pattern with a sharpie of the mirror inside the housing. Cut it out as a pattern, then made an identical template out of cardboard. I used the cardboard one to draw on the plexiglass mirror. A dremel will not cut the plexiglass mirror, so I went to a shop that does plastic signs and they cut it out for me for $20. Best thing I ever did, makes the driving experience a whole lot better!
  2. Dave - One wire in a harness from ECU to sensor was not grounding... All is well now. Thanks and you have mail.
  3. Dave - Good to see you're alive and well. Have not seen any posts recenlty. BTW - In a nuteshell, what's the deal on the pax side intake runner? Open throttle and look for oil... lost me there... why or what issues are you looking for?
  4. Mike - well said. I respect your knowledge from former posts and know members here who's car you worked on - nothing but good stuff reported. Back to topic - seems they skimp on maintenance or it's someone who just ran into a lot of money (bling bling) and don't understand these cars. Sugarfoot - Roadster and 6.0 will always demand top dollar. Roadsters have unique issues with warping of the rear deck lid due to heat - your mechanic should be able to spot this. I'm keeping the 2WD and will be adding a Roadster within the next few months. For me, with the roof is down - it is the ultimate exotic Noticed your in Naples.. if you do a PPI down here I have a lead for you. They guy who did NOS to Allen's lambo is in Ft Laud and he's one of the best. PM me if u need info on him. Best FL
  5. This may help... http://www.lambo-power.com/phpBB2/viewtopi...+year+ownership
  6. I have a 92 and it's rock solid and easy to work on. The early cars are very fast. Some things to watch for: Chain tensioners. They did an upgrade mid-92, so if the car does not have the upgrade, you can have it done and it's not very expensive. The early cars (some) had a faulty head gasket from the factory. This could be discovered during PPI and would be a one-time fix. I bought mine a year ago with 9K on clock and have put 6K on it this year with very minor repairs.. Door light switch, power window switch, coolant temp switch. Had a minor running issue that turned out to be a broken vacum hose. Again, nickle and dime stuff. Later models, as previously stated, have been know for shock/lift problems, which can be pricey because the shocks are proprietary and there is no cheap replacement alternative. I wish Dave would chime in and don't wish to speak for him, but his problem was due to previous bad mechanical work where they dropped a foriegn object down into his intake... that's all she wrote and trashed the motor... not the car's fault. I like the early cars - no lift system, no ABS, no cupholders... fast and serious. The only drawback is that they also lack power steeering and that may be an issue for you. Try to drive both to compare. As mike said, it depends on how well the car was taken care of by the previous owner. They both can be bullet proof. But whatever you do, make sure you get a PPI by someone who knows Lambo's before you purchase.
  7. Good info Mike - I'm familiar with Quicksilver and their stuff is quality. I'm some what of inventory and have a few patents and copyrights. When I get mine I'll design something for cooling /decklid . I'll also contact you about doing the headers & shields.
  8. Not to mention the extra weight.... usually the ratio is 100 pounds = 10 hp
  9. That's interesting. I'm looking for a nice roadster (keeping my 92 forever). So what's the remedy beside leaving the top at home when going topless? Ceramic coating on the headers may help the cracking but what can you do with the deck lid? Insulation or custom build on out of aluminum? Funny - I recall seeing a roadster about a year ago that had 2 electric fans mounted inside the deck lid. Did not talk to the owner and wonder if that was why he did it, to push hot air down and back...
  10. Absolutely the best and they will last the life of the car. I have purchased 3 sets from Keith. Only drawback is it takes a few weeks to get because they are all hand made one at a time.
  11. BMWRacer Agree with you and long over due. The "negatives" you mention is what keeps me away from the General Forum...most days I don't even go there and only participate in the Diablo forum for info that can be shared with other owners. Sorry for any typo's - still no power from hurricane and posting on small laptop.
  12. Why are you going to change the injectors? If clogged - can be removed and cleaned. Just curious -
  13. Dave - Yes! Did u get snail mail? PM me please.
