  1. Yellow is THE premier Diablo color
  2. I don't think its sad at all......we all knew this was coming, just like it did with the Miura, just like it will with the Diablo. Its the way the collector market works. If there is somehing I want, I either need to make smarter decisions earlier, work harder, or let it go without regret. At my place in the world, there ae some things I'll never have.....just the way it works. So I'll admire a Miura or Carrera GT from afar and enjoy what I have.
  3. I wouldn't waste money on any other modern car if I had a Carrera GT . It would be that and some 60-70s cars like Miura and a Daytona spider.
  4. There were 12 MOMO Diablo roadsters made, 6 in yellow, 6 in red....with opposite color schemes (what is yellow in my car is red in the red ones). My car is #1 of 12, and was driven (so I'm told) by Mario Andretti at the 1999 running of the bulls event. One of the 12 was wrecked, and 2-3 have Un-MOMOized their car like I was going to do.
  5. Nothing wrong with liking the Aventador color scheme, just seemed like your first post was like so many others that have not ever seen a MOMO in person or even decent photos (these are from an upcoming magazine feature) and dismiss it based on thinking about how a red/yellow combo might look. I think the MOMO scheme probably is MORE accepted today since the advent of Skittle colors in the mid-2000s. More Lamborghnis are around in the outrageus color schemes. OTOH, on my search I saw a Superman 430 (blue over red) in person and that was hideous.
  6. Not sure what the vitriol is all about.....I like having a car that is different. It stands out, even from other Lamborghinis......isn't that what is suppossed to make us a breed apart? If I wanted to be all status quo and boring I'd have a red/tan 430.
  7. The roadster is the star of that family, saw it in person at the Houston Lamborghini Festival, incredible presence. What a shock seeing another '99 roadster in the flesh.
  8. Thanks, So I bought the car in March, and while negotiating I did alot of research on MOMOs. Seems like every post was negative, so I thought who is going to buy this car so I played hardball with the owner. He wanted $145k , I paid $121k plus $2k for a set of tires, telling the guy I'm going to swap out the interior with part of the discount. Decent deal for a 1 owner, 9k mile car with service records. So he was like the car wins every show it enters and once you see it in person you'll forget all about changing it out.....blah blah, typical owner hype. So I flew up for the PPI, and he was right....it really works in person.
  9. IDK, I get nothing but complements, including from Valentino....
  10. Guy came by recently to take some shots for a magazine feature. Some interesting angles you don't see everyday.
  11. Early cars will NOT be the most colectable, they were built in the most numbers, and have some features (interior, power, brakes) that will always be less desireable. It is a mistake to compare the Diablo to the 365 Boxer and early Coutachs. In the other cases, the car are much rarer than the cars that came later, AND they were carbuerated, which is a big deal. In the case of the Diablo, they made fewer cars after Chrysler exited and improved the breed.
  12. As a MOMO owner, I hope it fares well in the future.....but it would be because it is a '99, which I think will do really well in the future. After all, the Roadsters have a feature that NO previous V12 car had.....and remember the old saying When the top goes down.......well you know the rest. I'm kind of surprised how well rceived the MOMO has been in public after reading post in threads from years past. People go nuts complimenting the interior, after I had set aside te money to chuck it.
  13. Been trying to pick between a Murci and Diablo. Most Diablos I've looked into buying have single repair bills for $20k+. I want to budget $4k per year in maintenance, so a $20k bill would be a real buzz-kill. I'm assuming a little German Engineering has made the Murci easier to live with, but have no information. What have you been spending on a yearly basis, and what large issues have you encountered? I'm aware a clutch is an $8k replacement every 4-5 years. Thanks
  14. I've narrowed my search down to a $160k or less 12 cylinder roadster. Have been looking at both Diablos and Murcielagos. On Diablos, I'm seeing alot of $20k+ repair tickets. I'm not seeing anything like that on Murcielagos. Can anyone familiar with both comment on reliability and repair cost differences? Has Audi ownership made that much of a difference, or will Murcielagos have those same issues 6-7 years down the road? Thanks
  15. It will be an 8 year journey come August....funny, but I don't feel rewarded...LOL
  16. You're welcome Maybe I'll be able to join you some day in Lamborghini ownership...
  17. OK, no show stoppers.....but THOUSANDS of dollars to get this right. Shows alot of issues for a 6k car, that alot of maintenance has been deferred. That said, these cars are of the age where polymer items need replacement. The ask price was $150k. I would expect seeing this laundry list, you should be a buyer at $135k or less.
  18. So you can use trickle chargers that plug in to the cig lighter?
  19. Are you looking it over this weekend?
  20. Maybe a dumb question.....but do these cars have a cig lighter you can use?
  21. Ironically, this car is now for sale (or was a couple of weeks ago) at Prestige. List was $174k, after some negotiation they were down to $158k.
  22. I called about this one.....the owner is conveinently dead (alegedly), the shop can't find the service records, they won't send any better photos because the car is at the dealer owner's house, the dog ran away...Yada, Yada, Yada..... The dark blue looks like a good car, keep on it. I'm also looking for a '99 roadster (light colored).
