  1. Are you saying I blew up an engine? I am suprised so many people seek my services (including in the Lambo community) if that is the case since I did the original setup/tuning on it. The engine has been absolutely flawless (and is currently to this day) and I dare say I have far greater control and safety measures in place on it than any other Gallardo TT has. You have yet to see us push that engine to the limits. If you think the power it has is pushing a properly built 5.0L V10, then you have a lot to learn (or you have been taught wrong along the way). The NERA engine has never been apart, in any way, shape or form, since it originally was built. I have been there every step of the way, and have driven it multiple times myself. If you guys want to talk trash that is fine by me, I am always down for that but at least try and stick to the facts when it comes to bashing.
  2. Looks sweet! Any dyno sound clips of the external w/g dumps? It is rare I hear those that I like but the 560 could change that!
  3. Congrats on finding the Gallardo and it will be in excellent hands with UGR! Are you running the Supra this fall in the mile?
  4. You are a horrible influence! Thanks for sharing your driving experiences with the car Ronnie, sounds like you are having a blast!
  5. They are right, Lambos do attract males. I am loving that one! Sounds like a typical racing dog box style transmission with ECU controlled flat shifting. Perhaps even paddle actuated on the steering wheel, aka EGear on steroids.
  6. Congrats Alex! The color combo and blacked out kit looks SICK!
  7. Congrats on the build and numbers Ronnie! Your car is beautiful! I think it is a bit disrespectful to hound an individual about what they paid for anything, be it a car, watch, clothes, house, etc unless they are someone you know personally (i.e. not on a public forum). I know Kevin is taking his family for a much needed vacation, so he may not even be able to post pricing info for a few days. However I think most the tuners have entry prices posted on their websites, and it would be a safe bet to assume that a bolt on turbo kit would probably fit into "entry" category. Again, I don't speak for any of the builders nor do I have pricing info. Just me drawing my own conclusion based on simple logic. Perhaps the websites are out of date. I bet if you call UGR, Heffner, DLM they would all be happy to provide you pricing based upon what YOU want to build.
  8. First, mods if this is the wrong section let me know and/or move it. It pertains mostly to TT Gallardos at the moment but is available for TT Murci, Diablo, etc (anyone running or wanting a MoTeC ECU system). More and more of the Gallardo guys are going MoTeC for good reasons, and below describes one VERY good reason. MoTeC recently released their knock control for the M400/600/800 series ECUs and they have raised the bar for what is available to those of us outside of a Formula 1 team. The ever infamous UGR Nera has been fitted with this system and more Gallardos are being fitted/tuned as well. For anyone wanting to run maximum power on pump gas, it provides a level of safety and control not usually found in the aftermarket. The below log snapshots are from a Viper because that is what I had handy on this computer (but the Nera logs look similar, though less ambient noise due to an engine that is much quieter mechanically by design). The SKM (standalone knock module) can be used with any M400/600/800 ECU and any knock sensor (though some sensors work better than others and I can make recommendations based on your application). Tuning is fairly complex, and should only be done by properly trained MoTeC dealers. The SKM has definable "center frequency", meaning the frequency band it focuses on when looking for knock. This frequency band varies engine to engine, and build to build. If you change your rods/pistons, add iron sleeves for instance, or bolt turbos on, you just changed the frequency that knock will "ring" through your block/engine assembly at. Think of a glass of water, change the volume or mass inside and the frequency changes when you tap it. The MoTeC ECU also generates a programmable knock "window" which narrows the window it is looking at the knock sensor to a certain number of crankshaft degrees. So once we set it all up correctly (a fair bit of work), we are now targeting a specific frequency band and a specific window of time per cylinder to look for knock. This makes the end result very effective. Since the MoTeC knows our firing order and cylinder count, it also knows which cylinder just fired (as it is then looking for knock on that cylinder). This allows us to not only do individual cylinder knock retard, but we can also log knock sensor activity by cylinder. Tuning this way also allows setting up the individual cylinder timing trims to take some of the burden off the knock control (engine is tuned properly, knock control is there for unusual conditions). Below are a couple of log snapshots from a Viper. The first shows normal knock sensor noise, along with my defined threshold (above that I have determined to be knock, and corrective timing action will be taken. The second snapshot shows a forced "ping" on a couple of cylinders (done under carefully controlled conditions this poses zero risk to the engine). Let me know if you guys have any questions! MoTeC is tough to beat once you start factoring in safety and control such as we have above, along with traction control, boost by gear, etc etc
  9. Couldn't have made a better ECU choice, IMO. They have been working flawless for the Gallardos. +1 for pictures, I can't wait to see how the body looks when you are all done! Going to be one wild G, congrats man!
  10. Worked perfect Alex, thanks again! I will let you know if I need more stuff.
  11. Great looking car and I love the wheels. Congrats!!
  12. Likes/Dislikes? I haven't driven one yet, was just curious what guys thought of them so far. Though once you go TTG, pretty much everything else sucks..... LOL
  13. Any pics of the ZR-1? Maybe you need the "R" package Murci.....
  14. Not really sure how what order things happen matter, not like UGR is on here bragging about some huge hp stock engine Murci (not that I saw anyway). Sometimes the schedules shops work with are not their own (custom parts development, customer needs, etc). I know the owner was excited to have it in Florida to show, and doing a proper engine build in the time frame available was just not an option. The turbo kit shown was the fully functional finished product which also allowed a bit of stock engine testing in addition to attending the show. Now the engine is being built to suit the goals of the customer and exceed his expectations. I think everyone is excited to see what it will do, but the owners goals/wishes for the Murci are different from the Nera so don't expect a 1500+ hp monster. Either way, I am impressed with what I have seen of the build thus far, very high quality. Maybe Kevin can post some pics of the engine and stuff as it goes together, pretty cool looking stuff!
  15. Looking good Jason, the black piping is a nice touch for this car.
  16. Not really a pissing contest for me, just sharing an opinion on what I thought of how it drives. I simply find the stock Gallardo gearing a bit "busy" with the power band/potential of a bigger power TT car (but find it quite enjoyable with perhaps a stock or mild TT build) . Everyone has different tastes though in what they like, which is what makes having options nice. Kevin would have to share specifics, I don't have any data on the gears themselves. It isn't just the top two gears though. I believe top mph with a standard redline is roughly 250mph with the gears currently in the Nera but I know Kevin said he had different options available depending on what guys really wanted to do. Raising the rev limiter a couple hundred rpm, different tires, etc can also impact your speed at redline.
  17. Sorry if this thread is a bit old, but thought I would throw my last two pennies in on it. I personally really like the new UGR gearing. Anyone thinking about it should not just look at the peak mph number as the only criteria for wanting them. The car is SO much more relaxed just cruising around (especially on the highway), much less shifting and I think it really compliments the wider power band of the TT cars. It is worth a test drive in a car with the upgraded gearing, just to see which you prefer. And for those nut cases wanting to go 230+, well they work fine for that also. As far as a road course, I know we are planning to take the Nera out for some lapping days here in the NW this summer. Perhaps a few other Lambos will be there (or know of some "can't miss" events that we may want to run). I spent about an hour driving the car around Charlotte the other day and it is very mild mannered in traffic, still well balanced in the turns and of course just flies when you want it to. The Motec boost by gear works perfect, and with the right boost dialed in the car really doesn't get out of hand in any gear (even first). My biggest worry on the road course will be brake temperature if it is being run to potential. The power/boost can be fully managed (heck I can even trim the boost based upon lateral G loading to tone it down while cornering) but as with any high performance car it will take someone doing the right things behind the wheel to get the most of it (or just not be stupid and go over your head). But I really think it is an error to say that it will not be balanced or handle well simple because it happened to run a fast drag pass. It is still very much setup for handling (which is why the drag pass is relatively poor in terms of speed vs ET when compared to an actual drag racing car).
  18. Ripper, congrats on your upgraded Gallardo! I saw it right before it left and UGR did a beautiful job on it. Kevin let me take a spin in the green car, and it is impressive to say the least. Drives really nice, very easy to cruise around and then pulls like a fighter jet on afterburner when you dip deep into the throttle. Hands down best high performance street car I have ever had the pleasure of driving. In regards to the theme of the past couple of pages, if none of us shared the spirit of pushing the limits then there would be NO modified Gallardos (hell, perhaps no Gallardos at all, for what is the point of a high performance car if staying within the bounds is all we want). Allen's Lambo makes a good point for some, in that seeing a few cars gets done can make one more comfortable about a given process. But for the rest, the race for more is always running and nobody likes being in second place. Hats off to UGR for really pushing the limits, and paving an upgrade path for others to take. Even those who think these horsepower levels are rediculous must rest a bit easier at night knowing just how much farther the platform is being pushed without any real drama. I have seen how Undergrounds green car gets driven, how much it gets driven (including letting guys like me take it for a rip) and it doesn't act like it is stressed at all. Just another low post count newb....
