  1. Get the countach, its far and away the coolest. Make it the most pristine car available, there are too few Countaches to "Mod" and it'll be stomped by every contemporary sports car anyways. Get a LP500S, no need to spend the extra money on the QV, all you really want are the looks anyways. Transport yourself to an era of infinite coolness with the Countach - its still the most striking car.
  2. All these track time comparisons for street cars are ridiculous. I've never been interuppted mid-commute for a road course race to the death. All that has to matter is that it feels exhilerating on the street. Besides, street cars are always slow and useless on track compared to proper track cars.
  3. Car looks unfinished - there's scaffolding in the back.
  4. The question is would the name change to Allan's Fieros Kills all?
  5. Go Drive it! Enter the Unlimited class... in any one of the following: http://www.lateralg.org/speeding/rallys.htm Choose from: 1) Pony Express Open Road Race. Based out of Battle Mountain, NV on State Highway 305, this 83.55 mile road course is a fast, challenging road with long, smooth straightaways and exciting canyon turns. The current course record is over 194 MPH in the Unlimited class. 2) Silver State Classic Early September Nevada Highway 278 is a shorter and more challenging open road racing venue which is run in both directions. Although there are no "Narrows" such as are found on 318, there are more challenging curves, hills, and a long straight-away before the Finish Line that will delight all you top speed lovers! The entire course is in Eureka County which is a much more pastoral setting then found on 318 with low rolling hills which create more elevation changes on the roadway. Although the course is only 55 miles in length the driver and navigator will probably be expending as much effort as they do on the 90 mile 318 course due to the increased turns and other challenges of this exciting open road event venue. Although we don't expect to see average speeds over 200 mph on this road, such speeds are not out of the realm of possibility. This venue is combined with a run on 318 the following weekend with many automotive activities in between in the City of Ely, all combined into a unique open road racing event covering over 200 miles known as Silver State Speed Week. 3) Gambler's Run Last Updated by LateralG on Apr 1, 2008 Total distance: 66.88 mi MKM Racing Production Late August We invite you to participate in our most challenging racing event, the Gambler's Run Twin 50 Open Road Race,. This event is run on scenic State Highway 225 out of Elko, NV, and is the second of our two exciting "two-way" events this year. This beautiful and challenging highway runs north out of Elko for 50 miles. On the first leg, racers will wind their way through a fast, curvy road demanding their complete attention; then, after a short turnaround, the racers head back south towards Elko. If you are racing as a team, you can each take a turn at the wheel, as driver changes are allowed at the turnaround. Straightaway speeds on this road are expected to exceed 200 MPH for the super-fast Open Division cars! 4) Nevada Open Road & Silver State Classic Last Updated by LateralG on Apr 1, 2008 Total distance: 91.03 mi Silver State Classic Mid May & Mid September The Nevada Highway 318 events are identical, differing only in the time of year. They begin just South of Lund, at White Pine County just north of mile marker 9, head South through Nye County, and finish at Lincoln County mile marker 7. The journey traverses 90 miles of two lane highway which has recently been repaved and is in excellent condition, with long straights, twisty sections, and dips, which for the faster participants, may result in an airborne experience. Entrants receive a set of Course Notes and a video tape to help them prepare for the event. The cars are run in classes at five mile per hour increments, from 95 mph to 180 mph, with the class determined by the vehicle's safety equipment, the driver's experience level and the driver/navigator comfort level. There is also an Unlimited Division for very experienced drivers with full race-equipped cars. Vehicles are started at one minute intervals and 30 second intervals, beginning with the 150 mph class and working back to the 95 mph class. Once the last 95 mph class vehicle clears the course, the Unlimited Division and the higher speed brackets over 150 are run as the final group. Chris....
  6. I can already tell this is the wrong car....Rolls Royce is advertising performance and handling. The word handling should NEVER be mentioned in the same breadth as Rolls Royce. Furthermore, what cock-bag is going to go out shouting how his RR does 0-60 in 4.9? A 'drivers' rolls is a bentley.
  7. Allan, don't waste time looking for straight, uncrowded road within L.A. county.... head out to Mojave towards Vegas and you can get some absolutely stretches.
  8. I got tired of Paaaahhhkkiinnngg caaaahhhs in Boston and moved to Laguna Beach. Seriously though, would anyone be interested in running an orchestrated drive through So-Cal roads? We could try to mix twisty roundabouts with long straights (until allan's 60-130 converges to 0.1 seconds). I've got a lowly zee-oh-six, but would be willing to be lead/radio car. Chris
  9. Ortega is incredibly boring.... too much traffic. Try www.lateralg.com; there are some excellent references in there. Best road within easy access of SoCal is Tuna Canyon Rd. in Malibu, 1 way, and very technical, but by no means high speed or long and sweeping. Chris
  10. A 548whp ZR-1 is VERRRRY different than H/C Plastic mess-06. Plastic mess-06 powerband is peaky with a gradual torque build. ZR-1 has over 300lb-ft of torque at 1000 rpm. It will develop power and torque much in the same way the SLR delivered. Also, GM has knowingly lowered power levels through constraining themselves to stock hood height. If a large intercooler were used GM engineers have said the car will hit 700 bhp while being 50-state CARB legal. To those of us without SLR's or TT Gallardo's I'd be weary. Chris
  11. Impressive. That being said, the car was riding on Pilot Cup Sports. Similar rational a 360 CS laps more than 10 sec beyond a standard 360.
  12. Is that Noah driving? Exhilerating to watch, although I can't say I fully endorse it. While I'm no one's moral judge, I wouldn't want to be in any one of the passenger cars there. Thanks, Chris
  13. Some quick videos of a slow drive-by: And a bit more sprited in-car action:
  14. Hi all, After all the building is complete, I'm ready to take on a new project. Car is available on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...em=150276274017 Thanks, Chris
  15. Why do we care about N-ring times again? I've never found myself on a racetrack shouting to other drivers how I could be 0.64mph faster in the hands of a true driver, but since its me they've managed to lap me. Its all 100% academic as far as I'm concerned.
  16. I am primarily a lurker on this forum, but having met RomanDad by chance at cars and coffee in Irvine, CA I just wanted to mention two items briefly: 1) His 88 1/2 Countach is absolutely stunning! Despite being the most photographed car in history, pictures have never done justice to the Countach and his car in particular. Parking across from the normal Ferrari 430/360 exotica helped highlight just how wild and exotic the Countach truly appears. 2) How hospitable and enthusiastic some board members can be. Just at the mention of L-power, Roman answered all of my typical non-owner questions. He was truly a class act! It was great to finally meet some of the members on this board. Chris
  17. This just popped up amaingly for anyone looking: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1977-Lotus-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  18. One of the all time greatest cars. The purtity of the concept and execution are peerless in modern automobiles.
  19. I did it as a technical challenge and to have something unique. Its a hobby. I didn't want a car everyone could have, and I could custom tailor a large portion of the car to my liking. I could ask the same question why would anyone buy an Exige S? Anyone with 65k can have one, they look identical to every other Exige S, and they really lack performance and presence. I also find it interesting that everyone is quick to criticize. I like it, that why I bought it and did it, same reason anyone else buys anything. I'm not delusional to think its a Lamborghini/Ferrari/Exotic substitute, but rather an interesting alternative in both execution, function, and from a hobby builder standpoint. If I wanted a 65k production car I could've had one. An Exige S is cramped, flimsy in comparison, and looks like an Exige S. A Viper SRT-10 is ugly in my opinion, and looks like an SRT-10. I preferred the unique look of the GTM, and wanted a technical challenge. I had the money, I could've spent it however I wanted and I chose this. It will also SPANK a 20k pumped NSX. To give a quick reference, a mild GTM on slicks outlaps a GT3 cup car. If I add a Kenne Belle, only a Production Veyron as a street legal US production car is faster accelerating. C&D tested one this month, check the figures.
  20. My seats are also different from shown in photo, leather and seude. High bolsters, and difficult to enter/exit but very functional. Interior is 100% black with Carbon Fiber center dash console.
  21. Total Build cost without labor was a knick over 65k. Not cheap to build at all. It takes between 1500-3000 hrs to complete. Interior is not 100% finished (I left off my door panels) so I'll post more pics later.
  22. At long last I have completed my <GASP> kit Factory Five GTM. This thing handles amazingly! And accelerates like a #*((*$##@&$, 2300 lbs and 400rwhp can do that. Here are some photos:
  23. Pretty sure that the Gallardo would be slower with wider tires. Increased rolling resistance and increased unsprung mass....Total contact patch on a Gallardo is huge (4wd) compared to the 430. Additional power (IE Heffner's twins) show that the Gallardo benefits tremendously from increased power.
  24. Mine will weigh 2300lbs (power locks and A/C add a bit of weight), 430 bhp, and 6 speed gearbox. Gear limited to 196mph. Should be running in the 11's all day, a 345bhp model will do 12.2's without a LSD.
