100% street legal. They can get more expensive, you can get the Civic R motor in on for about 43G which is still a bargan. Think of it this way 600bhp per tonne! its faster then the enzo and will out corner any exotic. If you can shift right nor to sixty in 2.9 seconds!

Those things don't look too safe on the road to begin with, what about airbags ? If it's street legal it has to have airbags, right ?

Whoa, the vids I've seen are with the Honda engine hauling ass, GM's Ecotec engine whups it in torque , that little bastard has to fly with the 300hp 250tq s/c Ecotec.

I would have got the 300hp version.You can kill yourself in that car no matter what the hp.And 140hp will get boring really fast

The SCed version must be blistering quick and must be such a wild ride!! I remember seeing it on Top Gear and just fell in love with the concept.

For the extra 10K you can basically double the HP and TQ. Call 'em back and change your order.

I watched the top gear test on this thing as well. Looks pretty damn fun. Are you required to wear a helmet since it doesn't have a real windshield or is that up to you? I agree with the others, spend the extra 10k and have the best bang for the buck you can get. Congrats!

I dont think ur required but im going to for my personal well being and not being molested by bugs and such. And i did opt for the SCed Ecotec

How do people see you on the road in that thing?? Looks super dangerous == not because of your driving -- but because other idiots not paying attention because its so small and fleeting. BTW, looks super fun!!! Congrats.

Which s/c version? Better be the 300hp option, that sucker already has almost 100ft/bs of torque over the equivilent Honda setup. I'm sure we all saw how quick the s/c Honda version was, imagine that sucker with an extra 100ft/lbs of torque :twisted:

 

I read something online where GM will tell you everything you need to get about 1400hp out of the ecotec engine , heh, 1400 hp Atom = death wish lol.

Good point, you would be invisible coming up the side of a Hummer or Suburban not to metion being behind any of these type of cars trying to back up. I guess on the track you would be fine but on the road you better watch everyone else like a hawk!

Well it has the same inherite problems as a motorcycle but your in a shell which could help in a small fender bender etc. BUT its harder to get out of if in a major accident. its a trade off ya know?

True,but with a motorcycle you are 5 feet tall and can be seen through a rear window of a car in front of you. In the Atom I am guessing you are maybe 3 feet tall at most and someone like my wife would back right over you as she was talking on her cell phone! That said it is still one cool machine that looks like a blast.

I seriously think I'm gonna buy one of these as it fits my billing quite well.

 

#1) I dumped my Harley because I was just too dangerous with all the idiot drivers here in Phoenix. I miss riding my bike and the open air.

 

#2) I miss my fast convertible -- I crashed my Viper SRT.

 

This little go-cart is like a bike, convertible, god-awful fast, eye-catching and god-darn it, I live in Phoenix which means I can drive it 8 months out of the year.
