Yes I am quite proud of that we contributed to develop this list. All in all 6 companies around the globe were asked. Our field is mainly Europe and we are specialized on Central America, which was also one of the main reasons we were asked.

I've traveled to one of the extreme high risk countries recently, and to one with high risk. It seems i am ok :)

I'm going to guess you're not white and did not wear your Nebraska Cornhuskers jacket?

I can say i have darker skin than the average european being arab in origin (huge advantage in this case), and yes no cornhuskers jacket :) One of the high risk countries is Lebanon, i would not say it is that unsafe, despite the recent turmoil.

The trip to the extreme high risk country is pretty dead on... Scary

Situation is very unstable. At times it could be ranged at 2-3, also depending where in Lebanon, but as I stated "With high risk in at least one category and region".

And yes ameer. Having dark skin like yours IS a huge advantage, it is a very important factor.

Côte d’Ivoire: 5 - With high security and travel risk; extreme security and travel risk in rebel-held north and near western border.

Real pity about this country, 20 yrs ago it was relatively safe, stable and prosperous. I would add Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) to the list. Same thing happened there, what a complete waste. Initially was the blueprint for integration. Driven out all the white farmers, destroyed the economy and infrastructure. Rhodesia was known as the bread basket of Southern Africa.....and now they are starving.

Though there they disturbing signs even then in the Ivory Coast....the leader at the time in 86 or so was building a palace the size of a football stadium. I wish I could find the picture I took from this hill over a sea of shanty towns. The palace was so fcuking big it blocked out the sunset.

I would think if you put El Salvador and Nicaragua on the list, you would have to include Guatemala - that's a dangerous place. Though Tulum is worth a visit if you can scare up an armed escort that you trust. The US has been fcuking up these countries for at least 50 yrs. Belize (nee British Honduras) is very pleasant though, good diving off the middle and southern parts of the country, occasionally you'll see a whale shark if your lucky. Go in May. Avoid Ambergris Caye, too touristy and way too many mosquitoes. Caye Caulker has better restaurants, an amazing Spanish restaurant called Sobre Los Olas, the ocean literally washes under your feet. Plus Caye Caulker is closer to the great dive sites. If you are not on a budget another island called Cayo Espanto is highly recommended. I proposed to my wife here...........Cayo Espanto. Tiger Woods had rented out the entire island a week or two before.

Haven't kept up what is going on with Congo, Angola and Namibia......they were always hot spots when I was working. Gotta love those diamonds.

No offense.....it's obvious you are not white. If you were, it would be a whole different experience.

My facial features help as well :)

Anyways, i would say that blending in is the most important thing you should do when traveling no matter where. Tourists are always targets ranging from pickpocketing, common scams, in safer countries to kidnapping, mugging, and even murder in some of the most dangerous and unstable parts of the world.

Probably, but that is not always a guarantee. You seem to have a lot of experience in Africa, i would most likely be regarded as an outsider as well in all of Africa except the northern arab/berber populated countries.

I agree, skin color helps, however ultimately how you conduct yourself will determine whether you get home or not.

Because Royal Caribbean's "Labadee" is fenced off from the rest of the island.

I love these posts by Monaco Bodyguards! good info.

:iamwithstupid:

I have traveled to some of the places above and keeping your eyes open at all times is a must. I found that doing your research before hand serves as the best defense. Some places keep getting more and more dangerous so its important to stay up to date. I'll be checking back on this post from time to time. :icon_thumleft:

Very good information!

It would also be interesting to see the LEAST dangerous places on Earth, or something to compare - say Chicago, LA or Munich - what the security rating would be there.

I'm curious to know this too. Brazil is more dangerous than people think.

As for Colombia and Venezuela, yeah, I've heard about their dangers esp. Colombia.

Looks like a fun yet dangerous job. If you guys need pilots with a TS clearance in a couple years I might hit you up. I have a buddy flying C-12's (King Airs) as a contractor in Iraq right now making stupid money.

cool thread.

i have a YHM Cobra supressor on one of them now. no pics though. you have to remove the Nielson device from the can to shoot it from a fixed barrel, as opposed to when its on the Glock or Taurus 9mm.

lots of fun

He he so my instinct was good, very good.

By the way.... nice Armenian girls... we have another Armenian member living in Scandinavia...

Read this from one of the former answers and you will get my drift:

My school buddies ( 6 or 7 in total ) got back from a 4 week trip to Cuba, Mexico, columbia, Chile, Panama, Guatemala and Puerto Rico.

They are ALL white New Zealanders. They stayed cheaply ( hostels ), got blindingly drunk and high ( coke and weed ) in all of the countries bar Chile ( 2 buddies HITCH-HIKED from Chile to Bogota!!!! ), went to the Darien Gap where they came across military/ border guards/ militia carrying machine guns, who proceeded to laugh at them when my buddies told them they were sightseeing. Bordered a plane carrying "medical supplies" from somewhere near the Darien to somewhere closer to Panama City. Trekked for 5 nights through the hinterland of Panama on horseback and generally got up to complete mischief.

Loose doesnt begin to describe it, and they all came out scott free ( other than getting hassled by the Panamanian Police for not carrying their tourist cards.

A trip is as safe as you make it. You probably couldnt do it more dangerously ( in terms of experiences/ situations ) than what these guys did, and they came out fine. Blinding luck perhaps, maybe not.

These pretty much sum up the trip. Taken in Boca Del Toros.
