1. Congrats to the Swiss Cheese cars that competed, that is a very impressive finish. They can't compete in speed so they built cars to compete in the first 1/8th mile. It's hard to make that ground up in a mile, the p-cars launch HARD...

2. Congrats to UGR, they built a car, sent it to another country, and the thing goes 236 the first time out? SIMPLY AMAZING!

These two summed it up best:

Maybe it's just me, but running a mile race based on ET seems kind of pointless as it's still all about the launch. Doubt the results would have been much different if they had just run 1/4 mile at a dragstrip. Which is why all the mile racing over here is based on trap speeds, I thought.

That's essentially what I was alluding to in the thread in the GTT section. I could get the same results at a normal drag race. I thought all out power indicative of what to expect in a roll race was what we were after in these particular competitions so we were just looking for biggest speed without factoring things that typically matter in a short distance drag race...along the lines of what we are after with the 60-130 info, vbox, etc.

Kevin or someone from UGR should fly out for the next event and drive the car for him...

:iamwithstupid: Probably what it will take, lol.

With their race being based on ET, it's perfect for the Porsches and GTR's with more effective launch control and about all the power they can hook up with it. Obviously if the same group of cars ran in TX where mph is what matters, the TTG would have crushed them.

Personally, I don't really "get" the whole ET thing for a nice street car because almost all street "races" are done from a roll (whether impromptu or planned), for a lot of good reasons (e.g., races from a dig are much harder to arrange and conduct, are much harder on the driveline, and unless you have AWD require changes to tires and suspension etc. that make the car less enjoyable to drive, and so forth). Hence the trend in the U.S. toward comparing 60-130 times rather than 0-whatever, which makes a lot of sense IMO. Not knocking drag racing if that's your thing, but it's not something I want to do with a TTG or any other true street car, much. No doubt it takes skill to launch a high horsepower car, but it's a rather pointless exercise unless you make changes to the car that make it a lot less "street" and a lot more "track." I'll take my "racing" from a roll, thank you very much. :turboalex:

182mph for a stock 458 is pretty good! Wish they ran a superg!

Exactly.
