05LSV Report post Posted March 29, 2012 Let's say you're at nice restaurant and they have valet. You know they're going to have you leave your car right up front, and you don't want them to have the keys (I don't let them have the keys at least). What do you tip? Just curious what everyone's norm is...

BLACKBULL Report post Posted March 29, 2012 I would give them a normal tip, then throw an extra $20 - 25 for me keeping the keys.
FXRcR1 Report post Posted March 29, 2012 I was a valet for a couple summers at a very exclusive country club in Chicago. Lambo's and Ferrari's were not unusual, Porsche's weren't even worth mentioning they were so common. Surprisingly most everybody was happy to let you drive their exotics, but you could always tell the real car guys just by the condition of the car, you knew there was no chance you'd be parking their car. In my experience it was generous if they gave $5-10 for you to NOT park their car while they leave it up front, of course, that was almost 10 years ago so I guess $10-20 would be an equivalent norm now.
