Has anyone tried other tires besides R888 on a TT?

There is Michelin pilot sport cup tires in a couple sizes that MIGHT work:

305/30/19

315/25/20

345/30/19

To match the rears, they make a 245/35/19 which is a little wider than Toyo.

The R888 are limited to 305 in the rear and 235 wide in the front.

The michelins have a short wear pattern and I think they heat up quick? They will suck in the rain but who wants to drive a G-TT in the rain :)

Keep in mind that my GTT is a bolt on kit which I usually run it at 750whp.

With the new wheels on the car, I run Pilot Sport Cups

245/30/20 & 315/25/20

Can't really tell a difference compared to the stock Corsa's with regards to traction.

I used the cup tires on 800 and 900whp and they were excellent!

I have the new ss tires on cgt and they are just as good FYI

I had the cup tires on my Viper ACR and hated them, they really need to be warmed up to stick and they are worse than the R888's if you hit some wet roads.... stick with the proven R888s if you can stay with the sizes they come in....

Thanks for the reply guys. I'm confused now on what route to go. The car has 20' in the rear and 19' up front already so a 315/25/20 pilot sport cup would be ideal without having to spend another $3k on a set of rear wheels in 19' to run the R888 if I can get away with it.

When you say the sport cups took heat to work, you mean more heat than the r888 takes to work?

I remember the white gtt convertible with sport cups and that was a fast car. Did you just leave traction control off and it was able to be controlled once it slipped for a moment and hooked?

Yes you can use those sizes no problem with the 305 on stock wheels.

I'm trying out this week 315/25/20 and 245/35/19 with Michelin Pilot Sport Cups on some HRE wheels to see if these will work well.
