Countach sideskirt.

Got hold of the original owner of this car a few weeks back, and got to ask him about the skirts on the car, and he said that he was at the factory and ordered the car himself there since there was no scandinavian dealer at the time, and he ordered it with the ving, skirts and the US-rear light-surrond/bumper. He understood that both the ving and skirts was sourced from an outside supplier, but mounted and painted at the factory. As for the US rear bumper, he really did'nt know why he ordered it, but as he said " at the time, I just wanted all the add-ons i could get to make the car stand out".. As if a Countach in the beginning was hard to see;)

Car was original red, and the rear bumper was taken of when the car was painted black around 1995.

It's great to get some info from original owners. From this story and a few others i have heard this year that are basically the same i would be willing to bet that the majority of lower sill additions came about the same way and were ordered and installed by the factory with fewer being done later on by the owner. Very interesting.

This is correct...the Low Body 1981 S2 in Black that I had a while back was a one owner Original car. The owner verafyed with me as well that he ordered it with the side skirts and it was installed, completed, paint etc at that factory which is where he took delivery of it as well.

I had the side skirts taken off and we sourced NOS lower fender arches and placed the car back to that condition. I have since sold the car..it is currently for sale in FLorida with another Dealer..

I still have the original Side skirts, in Black, in excellent condition if anyone wants them..they are for sale..???

i have the same side skirt which was indicated by a "countach specialist" from another board that it was not installed at the factory.... so much for his expertise... Contrary, Bobileff, whom I purchased the car from maintained that the skirts on my car were delivered from the factory as such.... The way I see it, anything done at factory would be considered as a factory option... ie walter wolf...

Any of the lower fender arches still available? Might be interested :) ... if I change this, did I alter my car back to factory specs or did I change it out of its original state from factory? lol...

I have reason to belive that they came from Köenig, but if you payed, Lamborghini would put them on for you. So it is not a genuine Lambo-piece, same as the wing, but on some cars an "original" part since it was delivered with/on the car when new.

You have the same as on the black car on top? If mounted on when made, I would actually say you would take it away from being a factoryoriginal, but I can not imagine anyone would care or ask.

yes I do. And yes, it was mounted by factory as I checked on the inner section behind the bottom fender well.... no paint and all undercoating.....as only the factory would have done... As to who would even care? Believe me, there are people out there that would care... just go on to the "other" forum where you will likely see people who probably would DNA out whether a pubic hair left under the seat was Ferrucio Lamborghini's, have it framed and call it part of a factory original and mark up the value of the car... llol I personally think as long as the car doesnt have any crazy mods that completely change out the general look of the factory that it would be fine. Better technology that can be applicable but not apparent is fine.

:eusa_dance: I think its just sad when there are "enthusiast" that use their knowledge to bash other enthusiasts, the people they work with, just to feed their own ego and wallet... Thats not what Lamborghini is about. Hell, that type of mentality is why Lamborghini started building cars in the first place... just pretty ironic if you ask me...

+1

I believe it was discussed that it was not a factory option rather a request. But, was this option documented during the build? Or just added at the cutomer request and not documented?

Some people might like the skirt, and some not, but I would think it is the same as with the ving that is not original, that it comes to the different persons preferanse on what looks good since both part is not a original Lamborghini-piece, but slurver from outsidere suppliers, but removing the skirt if you got them would probably be the same to someone as if you remove a factory FI-system, and convert a US car with impact-bumpers to a euro-specific car. Most enthusiasts would not mind at all.

Yes it is the same as many of the parts that varied the cars as back then, an exotic car company did whatever it took to make sure their clients were happy. Often, factory relied on outside suppliers to provide the parts and probably the distinction would lie in whether the factory installed them during production process to confirm its originality. It is true most enthusiast wouldnt mind about these gray areas. However, these "gray" areas have increasingly become a subject of interpretation, scrutiny and tool for those who seek to either devalue or increase the value of vehicle in question for personal gain. The unfortunate part is that the factory never kept great records to confirm these parts, allowing for such manipulation by these self proclaimed "experts".

Personally, I really dont care for the anal probing by these "experts" and what they bring to the marque. But I guess there has to be one of these guys for every brand out there, vamping enthusiast who are willing to pay for the hype these guys drum up....lol..

I got mine from Evans. They are "reverse engineered". I cant vouch for the fit as mine are waiting for installation this winter.

Should look great. When you get it done, make sure to post some pics:) I think I might just keep mine for now because taking them off would require to paint the bottom of the car since THE FACTORY didnt bother to paint under those " aftermarket" factory requested side skirts... That being said, unless I decide to repaint the whole car, it is always good to know there are those pieces available :) Thank you:)

When I wrecked one of the skirts on my 88.5, I found out that Lamborghini didnt have a part number for it, Lambo London suggested I post the pieces to Italy for them to have a look at & compare to their drawings.

Not fancying the hassle, I had a pair of moulds and new skirts made locally. If anyone needs them, drop me a PM.

Hi 5.7. Tried to PM you--didn't work. Can you PM me? Thanks.
