Unotaz Report post Posted January 11, 2014 Can someone explain this to me? Why does every Lamborghini engine (eg. Gallardo, Gallardo LP560/570, Aventador) is positioned slight off centered? Is there a specific reason why they do that? Other manufacturers like Ferrari or Mclaren always have their mid engine right in the middle (in comparison to the left and right side).... Chipster Report post Posted January 12, 2014 It is even off center on the RWD Diablos although they may have been already planning an AWD system so they did it to minimize changes for the new setup.

Fortis Report post Posted January 17, 2014 The Balboni/550-2/560-2 are RWD with an exact running gear as their 5XX-4 counterparts with the front diff and axles removed, positioning of the engine and gearbox should be identical across the range. Yep, the engine in my Balboni is also slightly off center.
Lambo_Stalker Report post Posted January 17, 2014 This edition is RWD But on the same platform, so the chassis design wasn't changed to minimize the cost of production I guess.
whiteout Report post Posted January 17, 2014 Yep, all of them are off center (not sure about early Diablo's/Countach).

LAUTLOS Report post Posted January 18, 2014 Fwiw, the second picture at http://heffnersperformance.com/ttgbuild.htm shows the 08 SL corner weights as LF=756 RF=702 LR=930 RR=924 total=3312 After almost 63k miles in mine, I have come to terms with the right front being a tad light. Where can I find the corner weights for a -4 vs -2?
TurboGallardo Report post Posted January 19, 2014 And in the Gallardo Balboni ? They wouldn't move the engine back to the middle for one model in an entire range.
SSR Report post Posted January 19, 2014 Today at the track I saw a GT3 Gallardo and the engine was off centred too.
emanon Report post Posted January 19, 2014 Today at the track I saw a GT3 Gallardo and the engine was off centred too. They all use the same frame and motor mounts so every Gallardo will have the same position.
