Update on the last 2 kids. 1 was released last night and the other is making great strides:

The final hospitalized victim of the Franklin Regional High School mass stabbings “has made great progress in recovering from his injuries,” his parents said in an emailed statement released Tuesday morning.

Greg Keener, 15, is listed in fair condition in the intensive care unit at Forbes Hospital. His parents, Rick and Julie Keener, said in the statement that their son is alert and “able to engage in daily activities, including sitting in a chair, some walking and watching the Penguins.”

Connor Warwick, 16, another victim of the attack, was released from Forbes Hospital Monday evening.

Unless more is written about the victims these 2 updates should close out the thread.

An 18yo Senior and Private First Class in the Army is awarded a medal for his actions that day:

With a brand new medal on his chest, Zachary Fleischauer stood motionless and straight-faced on Sunday morning as fellow soldiers applauded and hollered.

The Franklin Regional senior was humble about the Army recognition.

“I honestly don't think I should get this,” said Fleischauer, 18.

It was his immediate response on the morning of April 9 at his high school that earned him the Army Achievement Medal. Fleischauer, a private first class, used his military first aid training to help treat the stab wounds of several fellow students.Fleischauer was at school, early as usual, on April 9 when he heard screaming and then a fire alarm. He tended to a male student's stab wound outside the school with first aid supplies provided by fellow senior Alex Pasculle, who is an emergency medical technician with Murrysville Medic One.

Fleischauer said he patched the student up “as best I could” until ambulances arrived. Afterward, he helped three more injured students and calmed them until paramedics got to the school.

Also the last victim went home!!!!!

The final Franklin Regional Senior High School student who was a victim of the April 9 mass stabbing at the school was released from the hospital on Saturday.

Greg Keener, 15, was discharged about 2 p.m. from Forbes Hospital, said Jesse Miller, spokesman of Allegheny Health Network, in a statement.

The family has asked for privacy as the teenager continues to heal, Miller said.

His sister, Rachel Keener, expressed her reaction on Twitter.

“I am the happiest sister in the world, because after 38 days, Greg is finally coming home!” she wrote in a tweet on Saturday.

Reporters won't be tweeting, blogging or texting when a Westmoreland County judge hears evidence on Friday about whether a teen accused of stabbing and slashing 21 people in a Murrysville high school should be transferred to a mental health treatment facility.

One of the kids who saved her friend's life was honored with an award this week.

Gracey Evans, a Franklin Regional senior, was honored Thursday with a Hobie's Heroes Award recognizing her for assisting classmates who had been stabbed at the Murrysville high school, allegedly by a 16-year-old male sophomore wielding two kitchen knives in a first-floor hallway.

Twenty students and a security guard were injured.

Evans applied pressure to Hurt's wound inside a classroom where a few other injured students and witnesses gathered. The gregarious teenager humbly accepted the award in front of family and friends, as well as the Westmoreland County commissioners and other local, state and school officials

A forensic psychologist testified Monday morning that a 17-year-old charged with slashing and stabbing 20 students and a security guard at Franklin Regional High School “would not survive” in adult prison.

Dr. Bruce Chambers testified during a hearing in Westmoreland County court that REDACTED of Murrysville needs to be in a juvenile facility where he can continue mental health treatment.

REDACTED was escorted by sheriff's deputies to the courthouse from the Regional Youth Services Center in Hempfield where he has been held without bail since the rampage on April 9, 2014. He is charged as an adult.

Asked by a reporter if he thought it would be fair to the victims if the case were moved to juvenile court, REDACTED responded, “Yes.”

During his testimony, Chambers said REDACTED “is quite remorseful,” and now understands the impact on the victims.

Medication and therapy have reduced REDACTED depression and paranoia, Chambers said. “A marked improvement was obvious,” he said.

REDACTED mother cried quietly in the courtroom as Dr. Christine Martone, a psychiatrist, described his depression before stabbing.

Martone said REDACTED depression and psychosis have subsided, but he needs to continue medications and therapy. He is aware he needs further treatment, she said.

REDACTED “has very minimal risk” of future violence, Martone testified. “What fueled this act was mental illness, not antisocial behavior.”
