Mako Report post Posted September 29, 2005 Highs: Iconic presence, surprising roominess, mega-performance. Lows: Noisy interior, driveline shuffle, poor fuel economy. Mako Report post Posted September 29, 2005 It looked better in the C/D pics than that early coupe we saw last year. Much more impressive.

Mako Report post Posted September 29, 2005 dont convertibles usually weigh more than their coupe counterparts? Not in this case.

Mana Report post Posted September 29, 2005 Something wrong with those 0-150 numbers. How does the coupe with more weight and the same power get to 150 2 full seconds quicker than tha convertible. Aerodynamics can't be that different. Can they?

Aerodynamics can't be that different. Can they? I would think the drag is a little lower on the coupe. The numbers may lie a touch, as the next tester may get a lower number, but the coupe will definately have the better aero. Aerodynamics can't be that different. Can they? Massive drag on the drop top Mana. The cD alone is probably three or four points higher. Put your hand out the window at 140mph, see what happens. Mako Report post Posted September 29, 2005 I like it; but....it needs to up the performance game...117 in the quarter? thats it? Inconsequential due to who knows what kind of launch/traction/etc. Look to the 0-150mph time for a better reference, which I provided for you. Extremely fast car. Mako Report post Posted September 30, 2005 Even with the top up? Worse, amazingly. It's no small feat that cars like yours, and that Lingenfelter that was tested last month, can hit 210mph+ with such massive drag created by the softop being up, or the cabin being exposed with it down. The resistance is increasing at an exponential level as mph rises, yet the Viper TTs still hunker down and soldier on to blistering levels of speed. Put your engine in a SRT-10 Coupe, with the right gears, and you'd see 230mph easily.
fastlambo1 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 Agreed. In fact, I seem to recall the soft top lifting off the damn viper at high speeds in that test, and they had to tape it? Thats got to be terrifying.

fastlambo1 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 If thats a 522ci TT, I'd be terrified to drive it. On those tires, and that suspension, you'l' be incinerating the tires at a buck plus mph. Even a stock viper is a twitchy sob, its going to take a very tempered personality to avoid wadding one of these up. Even at the 600-700hp level, youve got to make sure youre straight and level, and nothing in the way for a good distance before you hammer it.
