I'm not so sure. They jailed 6 seismologists and 1 official for 6 years each because they failed to predict the 2012 earthquake. Apparently the Italian court believes that scientists have crystal balls.

Little girl arrested for drag racing on Miami Beach
stefano replied to abolfaz's topic in Automobili Lamborghini
I can't say I'm surprised. We all saw it coming, his irresponsibility knows no bounds. -
I'm interested in knowing which is more engaging to drive. The Huracan certainly has the looks, but Lamborghini's decision to drop the stick shift is a major downer for me.

Marine in Mex...no wait, Marine urinating on Taliban
stefano replied to SingleSeat's topic in Off Topic
Boils my blood how our troops are forced to treat an enemy with respect when they in turn give us none. The taliban killed 100 people and hanged their bodies as a warning to anyone who might defect, torture and executions are a way of life for them, morals are certainly not. If these marines had been captured by the taliban I'd bet you they'd meet a far worse fate that just being urinated on. It's all to easy for the political class and the bleeding hearts to lynch soldiers who act "inhuman", for they aren't the ones with their lives on the line, they aren't the ones seeing their comrades being blown apart by IED's, they aren't the ones who know they'll face certain death if captured by the enemy, often brutally too. The taliban aren't a conventional army nor do they abide by the geneva convention. -
And yet we hear next to nothing about this story, just like the other potential massacre at the Portland Mall that was prevented by a CCW holder. So much for balanced reporting.

Roman, I think the bigger issue here isn't just that kids play/watch these violent games and movies too much, but more that the parents let them do so when the game/movies are clearly aimed at a much more mature audience. All of the Call Of Duty games are rated 18 here in the UK, but I'm willing to bet a large chunk of its players are barely into there adolescence, much less their adulthood. As for maniacs mother, I'm puzzled as to why she was planning on getting him committed yet at the same time she trained him to use firearms.

True, I heard somewhere that the gun deaths figures also include the deaths of criminals at the hands of law abiding citizens. No idea if it is true, but if it is, maybe they should separate the official stats from where guns are used legally vs illegally.

Gun violence in the US is mainly tied to illegal firearms being used by gangs, with another large chunk being suicides. As for the law abiding citizens, yes guns are used to save far more lives than they take (roughly 2.5m times per year). You just never hear about it because the media (mostly) only like to broadcast guns being used in crimes. To get to the core of the issue, violence in the US is a cultural issue, not a gun one. Here in the UK, our gun crime rate (back in the late 1800's/early 1900's) was lower than the US's gun crime rate even when we had no gun laws at all.

I have aspergers syndrome and I bloody hell know the difference between right and wrong. I'm seriously getting pissed off at how many people are using the condition as a bloody cop out. It's a socializing disorder, not mental retardation.

Lamborghini Cheetah Concept Promo Video
stefano replied to a007apl's topic in Automobili Lamborghini
Probably because Lamborghini aren't well known as a defense company and the cheetah being a concept. -
I never said today, I referred to the rise of drones, and it will happen sooner than many think. 20-30 years isn't a great amount of time when you consider how long it actually takes to develop a warplane today, the JSF started in 1996 and wont be combat ready until 2017. I'm willing to bet that there will be a fully autonomous warplane by 2030, possibly before. Just looking at computing power alone today compared to 20 years ago, it's not too hard to imagine.

Glad the pilot ejected, but the F-22 is a waste of money, just like the F-35. Both programs have been plagued with cost overruns and delays, add the fact there was no significant need for them either. The advance of Drones will render both of these planes obsolete.
