  1. Hi LP TT owners:), I have been told by a local 'experienced turbo tuner/installer' that with age, the precats in the headers can break up and send nice metal bits into the 'hot' exhaust side of the turbo destroying the impeller/Turbos. Such an unwelcome event may lead to problems on the cool inlet turbo side caused by the hot side destructing sending bits of impeller from the cool side into the engine with appropriate disastrous consequences. I have not personally seen the precat screen in a LP560 engine header, but if it is anything like the precat screen in my RS6 TT headers, you need a pneumatic cold chisel to remove them from the headers!! I assume the precats in the headers in the LP560 engine are the same. Very hard to remove and thus hopefully not prone to disintegration? Any comments/advice appreciated. cheers, john
  2. The Lamborghini Gallardo can be a successful rally car as seen by the white family race team with back to back wins in the 2012-2013 targa Tasmania http://www.speedcafe.com/2013/04/21/jason-...asmania-titles/ However, not without challenges when tarmac rallying and I would suggest a very large engine bay Halon fire system! Unfortunately the last fire incident put a stop to further rallying. http://www.themercury.com.au/sport/local-s...f-1226815860480 I am installing an engine bay halon fire system in my TT and I don't rally.! cheers, john
  3. nice photo fortis. Somewhere in the dandenongs? looks like a nice road for a blast cheers, john
  4. Hi Dustin, you are right about the attention you get from general public. Goes with the mystique of the marque, etc. The R8 is thought , unfairly IMHO, by many to just be a TT on steroids. However from my limited experience it is a more comfortable car than the Gallardo and on the track circuits I have seen an R8 out handle a Gallardo due to the R8's active quattro AWD system. You can see the continuing evolution of the Gallardo towards being an R8 in the new Huracan, a criticism of the new Huracan being a little soft compared to the Gallardo LP series. Having said the above, I will keep my LP560TT bolt on until I see how the Huracan bolt on TT's evolve. Coming from Audi ownership, I can still console myself with my factory RS6 V10 TT I am sure that your R8 TT 2R or X will be a king of the street car and continue, if not exceed, the high standard you set with your Gallardo 2R:) cheers, john
  5. I have just been driving on R888's on highway for 2 days for 13 hours a day from Perth to Eucla and back (2,800kms) and can say that is what Bose noise cancelling headphones are for:) cheers, john ps some gratuitous photos from this driving stint attached. In the picture with two 'cars', my lambo is on the right:) Can anyone tell me what the pickup is. Looks like a '39 something. Other picture shows what a great bug catcher the front scoops are. Extra layer of mesh tie wrapped to grilles to stop radiators getting clogged.
  6. I know that some gt3 lambos use air shifted dog box for circuit racing. cheers, john
  7. I don't know about the ceramic kit above, but if you are fitting 390 mm front rotors , you do need spacers to retain the original calipers. You can see the spacers on this R8 V10 big brake 390 mm upgrade that I installed on my LP560-4. See this link http://www.another board/vbforum/f4...nstalled-61386/ cheers, john
  8. FWIW I am running the R8 upgrade 390mm front and 355 mmrear Alcon /stasis steel rotors on my oem 19" wheels. Pull up hard and no fade on track. http://www.stasisengineering.com/products/...-355-mm-rear-r8 Full details on http://www.another board/vbforum/f4...nstalled-61386/ cheers, john
  9. Hi 2007 Gallardo, Congrats on a great win. I loved your enthusiastic response at the win jumping on the roof I still have a soft spot for the manual Gallardo. cheers, john
  10. You mean just like the Alpha lambda lambda lambda and the lambda lambda lambda and the omega mu mu GTR35 that won Texas Invitational and just ran 7.7 sec and 186 mph on the quarter mile with street tyres-not! http://blog.caranddriver.com/watch-2000hp-...nds-at-186-mph/ cheers, john
  11. I have 390 mm Alcon steel race rotors on my front and calipers just clear my oem 19" rim by 2 mm, with minor scraping on inside of rim. some slight grinding on the back of caliper to remove raised logo cured the scraping problem. Strangely enough, miniscule caliper clearance on my OZ Superleggera 19" rims, but calipers did not scrape inside of rim as slightly different offset to oem rims. Probably accounts for the OZ Superleggera rims with Michelin PSS scraping on the fender liners on full lock. cheers, john
  12. Hi david, nice looking set of paddles. Have you considered wrapping the paddles in gloss carbon fibre wrap as the wraps have improved considerably in quality. Alternatively the carbon fibre wrap skinning process? Or the carbon fibre hydro dipping process. I am sure as a manufacturer you can get a good price from the providers of these respective kits. I am not aware of the wear factor for these carbon fibre skins, but I believe the skinning process as it is a resin wrap is the most durable. Don't know how it feels, but I wear the audi leather touch tec nano conducting gloves anyway to stop oily and sweaty hands damaging alcantara and aircon/fan controls. http://audicollectionusa.com/Accessories/L...-driving-gloves Just my two cents worth. cheers, john
  13. Here's another challenge with trying to dyno RWD giant WHP TT cars So if wheel spinning on the dyno, what is it going to be like on the street with street tyres and this is not a viper. cheers, john
  14. Would be a very impressive machine indeed. I would think it would be a handful on street R888 tyres trying to keep it in a straight line. cheers, john
  15. Lol. I am always asked by my son-in-law in his GTR at the start of a half mile side by side run against my RS6 at this years "Racewars" here in Western Australia. "Tell me if my brake lights are working" Once I had to say they were. Another run I had to say, I didn't see them All good fun! cheers, john
  16. Hi quatariot, I am new to driving bolt on TT with 800whp. Have been driving my AWD LP 560-4 for 2 days now at various rates of acceleration and speeds:) If you TT your RWD, you have to have boost by gear. If you don't have boost by gear. you will lose traction very easily in 1st and second definitely. Almost I would suggest under hard acceleration to point of being unmanageable. eek! If you are going to TT, much safer to TT an AWD, for with a RWD, if you lose traction at low speeds, you can probably control, but if you lose traction at high speed, you may end up doing a backward spin off the road! Breaking traction and spinning the wheels gets old after a few times and all you then long for is total hook up and the jet fighter acceleration without worrying about whether the back end is going to let go on you. Even with AWD you have to be careful. Check out the video on you tube where a high power AWD Gallardo tt broke traction on changing gears and spun off the runway! I would suggest this would be a more common occurrence with RWD and TT power. just my two cents worth. cheers, john
  17. the main reason I traded my 2006SE e-gear for a 2011 Lp560-4 e gear was no 'bucking' ever with the LP e-gears, unlike the 2006 SE e- gear that I drove for 5 miles before trading it for the 2011 LP e-gear. You can still destroy the LP e-gear clutch in short time as I did once by reversing up the slope in my driveway with my one foot on the brake and the other on accelerator:( I wont do that again! just my two cents worth. cheers, john
  18. as per numerous other posts, always drive in sport mode. Also avoid feathering the clutch as promotes slippage. wherever possible avoid reversing up hills /slopes as this will wear the clutch. just my two cents worth. cheers, john
  19. Hi David, money burning hole in my pocket for the extensions:) cheers, john
  20. Hi Dustin, Very interesting and thanks for posting. I would have thought that with LC you would have a higher half mile trap speed? certainly a quicker time/ET? cheers, john
  21. Hi Mike, good to see that your family are fans of the VW-Audi group, as I am. I have been tempted to add an R8 V10 coupe as well, but have run out of garage space at home. Wifey thinks all too silly. welcome to the forum. cheers, john ps The xke is in the stable as have owned it for 30 years and it was my first 'almost supercar'.
  22. Hi E7ITE, event is snowymountains 1000. Held at cooma in nsw on Saturday November 22, 2014. All cars have to run on street tyres and pump gas. No race fuels allowed. I expect GTR's will be quickest, as usual. Lambo should be in top 5, I hope. Biggest wild card is twin turbo SRT jeep. Ran 2nd last year!. You can see last year event times on the website. cheers, john
  23. Thanks Dustin. Actual distance will be 0.62 miles ~ 1,100yards. Expect I should be able to run the standing start around 18.5 secs and 182 mph. A launch control start should be interesting:) This meet is small beer compared to US half mile meets, but should be fun. This will be the first sprint in Australia where a Lambo TT has competed. At least I will have 900 metres to brake from 182 mph rather than 400 metre of braking area from 160 mph in the RS6 that I had at the Wyalkatchem 1000 metres sprint. That was a bit of a "whoa nelly" deal, I give you the big tip:) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=588...e=1&theater cheers, john
  24. Hi Dustin, thanks for the information. Much appreciated. cheers, john
