  1. I say don't write it off... we have talked about it a lot off and on and i say at 75 buy the damn thing. Listen, no offense, but Albofaz hasn't agreed on the price of any of these cars in what? 4 years LOL. and Allen just paid a ton of money into his to have someone else bring it up to HIS high standards, which is great but when you can do a lot of the work yourself it's a whole new ballgame. Taking the engine out and apart is not difficult... then ship to Evans and have it rebuilt. Recover the interior and live with the outside paint for a while... get to know the car and worry about the paint after you've earned a few rock chips. As far as the injection system goes, talk to Mike at Evans. He will have all kinds of info and suggestions on how to improve it. It is a good system for what it was meant to do and it seems to work reliably but Yes, of course, like any injection system, up until 15 fifteen years ago, brought the power down.... so what?
  2. Then have Roy work the deal for you.... let him check it out and buy it with the understanding of selling it to you. Don't deal with the headache... let him do it. You have to be a little crazy to buy one of these and that seems to come out when the person puts it up for sale, so don't expect normal sanity and if you find it then consider it a bonus. Plus, NEVER assume a countach has working a/c. If it "WORKS" then it is usually in the ad as a selling point. Odd since the a/c systems on these are easy to fix and entirely new compressors (the usual problem) can be bought for $120 dollars new. Roy reasonable so i'm sure he wouldn't be looking to charge you a ton over his time needed. I would inquire with him. A countach is your best bet for value right now as any other model, except a miura, you will probably loose money on.
  3. Good luck Johnny... you have been looking for your project for a while now.
  4. Mike Fuschis' old car.... i mean Johns' old car.... Tonys' old car... in action
  5. i have wondered the same about that Hemmings ad. i also think you may have to look overseas and import a car.
  6. You can't find any "no need" cars for sale...in fact there are not many for sale period so i am a little surprised to see you say that they are "over priced". Add in that there are others that are also shopping around (as you stated the Rainman car sold) and it makes for a really tight market. I have a friend actually in the northeast that didn't buy one 3 years ago because he didn't like the price increases back then....now he is completely priced out of the market. He also was a previous owner and i think was heavily influenced by memories of his 1st time around and old prices.... buy smart but remember they are not going to go down.
  7. That's carbs and hot exhaust ie. normal
  8. I know a lot of bashing was forced on the maroon repainted one that sold on ebay the other day but wtf... it sold for 74 grand and has nice paint. Interiors are not expensive to have redone. Albert showed the work and price by the best and it was reasonable. A lot of the cost is taking it apart and putting it together BUT the secret is out and here it is: IT IS EASY TO DO. So have that engine totally rebuilt and clean up the compartment and what then did you pay for the car? 75 plus 50 is 125. Seems like a smart buy to me.
  9. Singleseat has some good points for sure... i have been advising against the statement "buy the best one you can find" for two years now just for this reason. I bought the best one i could find and then rebuilt the entire engine sooooo that plan failed. Plus, buying the "best " one usually means the most expensive. You can however pick your personal lesser of all evils. Do you want perfect paint and interior and would rather know EXACTLY what you have engine wise by going through the mechanicals or take the car that "seems" mechanically excellent and needs some paint/body/interior work. I also am surprised at the steep price increases in the States but you have to remember that we have been shipping them all over seas for the last three years now. In one month alone last year we lost 15 cars. I think it is finally catching up with us as many people just this year start off telling their countach purchase story with the same sentence "Can't find any".
  10. Chad Bolles always gives out that advice.... which is good advice to give, but maybe he knows. Followed by the words "star washers" LOL
  11. turn up the volume for mine... 45seconds for effect, 53 seconds for sound, taxi driver and asian restaurant for fun.
  12. Those always LOOK really bad but usually not a big deal.. just rinse the car down. Coolant is very bad for paint.
  13. ????? my computer conversion thingy says 6foot 2and a quarter inches for emilio.
  14. Where have you been with this issue for the last two years? Guys have been trying to get in touch with you over this for a very long time with no response, according to them. You have been accused of not returning calls or emails. If you did indeed sell these to Evans and had to replace some for him (his customers) then you knew there was a problem. Why didn't you come on here to see what was happening and communicate with everyone? Someone even went so far as to send someone to Tampa to go "look" for you.. and from i understand you are pretty damn lucky they didn't find you. So what do you have to say about letting this issue go so long that people just gave up and swallowed the expense of your mistake?
  15. Mental note to self: DON'T BUY ANY fcuking JOINTS FR0M EVANS. ok, moving on now.
  16. oh yeah .... i know. So does Vic. George is great with documenting everything with photos. Mike (at Evans) has probably redone more of these engines than ANYONE else. Make sure they update/improve/tune up your A/C system.
  17. Cool man... let us know when the show will be on. DVR will be set. I think more and more recognition is being put towards these cars. Hope all is well buddy.
  18. just found this thread ( i usually just check the Countach section)... Great to see what is happening here. Evans totally rebuilt my engine too and i love it. I went with the bore out and bigger pistons though, which i would have recommended because Why Not? ...that part of it actually didn't cost much, but then again you did say your car only has 3,000 or so miles. It will be a fantastic example and at the age of these cars now, this is what MOST of them need.... sadly it's rarely done. Wing= from a guy who is wingless i will say that the car looks great either way, but as someone who likes it with and without then i think the best option is to trade off every couple of years.... just make sure when it's off that the holes are not covered in a half-ass way. a few repeat photos but wingless from different angles (all of my friends cars have the wing so it's a good way to stand out). if others you hang out are wingless then leave it on.
