  4. Befitting a sale focused on cutting-edge design, early entries for RM’s 2015 New York event are led by a unique 2006 Lamborghini Concept S, chassis 001. Conceived by the marque’s then head of design, Luc Donckerwolke, the car was introduced as an extreme interpretation of an open-top Lamborghini Gallardo. First presented as a non-running design study at Geneva in 2005, tremendous public interest in the Concept S prompted the decision to build a functional version of the vehicle in order to further gauge potential customer demand. The fully operable version debuted at the Concorso Italiano the following year; a proverbial show-stopper, it remained true to its concept yet seemed even more extreme. The so-called “saute-vent” windscreens, re-designed and lowered for homologation, were even more radical than the original design, serving to visually divide the cabin and creating a “spine” that runs between the passenger and the driver. While a limited run was originally planned for the Concept S, the exceedingly high cost and time-consuming production ultimately ended with the first example also being the last, rendering chassis 001 – the vehicle slated for RM’s New York sale - a true, production-ready, one-off Lamborghini. In single ownership from new, the current owner took delivery of the Concept S soon after it’s unveiling. It proved so popular that it was routinely invited back by Lamborghini to be shown around the world, including twice at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Fully operable and street-legal, it has been driven only 180 km, with many of those accumulated during initial testing and the remainder on the show field (Estimate: $2,400,000 - $3,000,000). Ian Kelleher, Managing Director of RM Sotheby’s West Coast division adds, “The Gallardo Concept S is downright wild and an absolutely perfect car to be featured within the 10th floor galleries at Sotheby’s. The Lamborghini’s blend of avant-garde style and uniqueness sets the tone for what will be a theme carried throughout the entire catalogue. As we carefully curate the 2015 New York offering, we will continue to place a strong emphasis on significant design contribution throughout automotive history. It will undoubtedly be another watershed event.” http://www.rmauctions.com/ny15/new-york/lo...ncept-s/1076697
  5. Saw it in Geneva in March and like it. But the true is, that's not so special
  6. Lamborghini is to build a roadster version of the Aventador Superveloce (SV), the fastest and most extreme version of its Aventador hypercar yet. The new model’s production was confirmed to The Telegraph during an interview with Stephan Winkelmann, the CEO of the company, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. 500 examples of the Aventador SV Roadster will be revealed, and all will share their mechanical specification with the coupé version. So all will get a 740bhp version of Lamborghini’s famous 6.5-litre V12 engine, enough to propel them to a top speed in excess of 217mph, hitting 62mph in a shade under three seconds along the way. Also shared with the coupé will be the lighter, more aerodynamically efficient bodywork, carbon ceramic brakes with six-pot calipers, and a variable-ratio steering system. No pictures are yet available of the new car, but Lamborghini will unveil the new model to the world at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August, with orders scheduled to start shortly thereafter. In his interview, Winkelmann also reaffirmed that Lamborghini was committed to the SUV sector, though he didn’t rule out the possibility of another four-door model, possibly in the form of a saloon, at a later date. “If I have to put a pound on one segment, then I would do it on the SUV,” he said. “This is the segment of the future. People want to sit higher, and it’s also the sector where you have much more opportunities without getting into too tight a corner in terms of the power-to-weight ratio.” By Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/goodwo...V-Roadster.html
  7. More about this event: The Blancpain Endurance Series round in Le Castellet on June 20th-21st also sees the premiere of SRO Motorsports Group’s newest concept, the Ultracar Sports Club. With the presence of at least 16 of the most exclusive automobiles on the planet, the first meeting of the Ultracar Sports Club can already be called a success. Ultracars are a special breed of cars. Their DNA means that their natural habitat is the race track, but past experience proved their running costs are not compatible with the budget of a race team. But somewhere in between professional motorsport competition and valet parking at a five-star hotel, Stephane Ratel and his SRO team thought that track time within prestigious race events would give the owners of these prestigious cars the ideal environment to fully enjoy these magnificent machines. They were right. Already four manufacturers have given their support to the first meeting of the Ultracar Sports Club. McLaren will give the P1 GTR its first public track appearance, with test driver Chris Goodwin at the wheel. Lamborghini brings one Veneno Coupe and one Veneno Roadster, a car of which only nine units have been produced. Then there is Bugatti, with official driver Pierre-Henri Raphanel at the wheel of Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse / World Record. Aston Martin will also be part of this very exclusive line-up, bringing a One-77 to Le Castellet. Beside the manufacturers’ essential contribution to the event, a number of private owners have entered a couple of ThethetheFerrari, an highly exclusive Pagani Zonda R, a Porsche 918, an Apollo Gumpert and six McLaren P1 are also confirmed, bringing the total number of Ultracars to sixteen to date and likely to grow. These magnificent machines will obviously not only be on display for the admiring fans, but will also have time reserved for them on track on both Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June. Stephane Ratel (CEO and Founder of SRO Motorsports Group): “This is a dream come true. I feel very passionate about the Ultracar Sports Club, because I believe that these beautiful and exclusive machines belong on a race track. I am very happy to see that the manufacturers of this breed of hypercars share my point of view and will bring some of the most iconic examples to Le Castellet.”

  12. Lamborghini has announced production of an exclusive new special series, the Aventador LP 700-4 Pirelli Edition, created to celebrate the long and ongoing history of collaboration with prestigious Italian tire manufacturer Pirelli. The partnership began back in 1963, the year the House of the Raging Bull was established, and since then all Lamborghini cars have been equipped with Pirelli tires. The two firms share not only their Italian origins but also, and above all, a constant quest for technological innovation. The new Aventador Pirelli Edition, available in Coupé and Roadster versions, will be produced in a special series and is available to order now from dealers, for delivery early summer 2015. The super sports car maintains all its unique technical features, first and foremost the carbon fiber monocoque, the V12 engine, pushrod suspensions and the permanent all-wheel drive, which underlie the Aventador’s global success. The special Pirelli series is enhanced by exclusive equipment specifically designed by the Lamborghini Centro Stile. The exterior sports a two-tone color scheme in two options. The first is matte black for the roof, the pillars, the rearview mirrors, the engine hood, and the front, rear, side and moving air intakes, in contrast with six glossy finishes for the rest of the body (Giallo Spica, Rosso Mars, Bianco Isis, Nero Aldebaran, Grigio Liqueo, and Grigio Ater). The second option is glossy black for the upper parts of the car and the air intakes, in contrast with four matte finishes for the rest of the exterior (Bianco Canopus, Nero Nemesis, Grigio Adamas, and Grigio Titans). Another distinctive element of the body is a thin red stripe that runs along the roof and the engine hood, the rearview mirrors, and the outer profiles of the air intakes, a stylistic feature designed to evoke the unmistakable Pirelli branding. The Pirelli logo, once again in red, is visible at the start of the two roof lines and on the tires. Standard equipment for the exterior also includes the transparent engine hood, the engine compartment in carbon, glossy black Dione 20’’/21’’rims, P Zero tires with red logo and red calipers (yellow only in the case of the Rosso Mars exterior). The interiors of the Aventador Pirelli Edition are upholstered with black Alcantara with red contrast stitching. The red stripe on the body is also repeated on the inside, running along the interior ceiling and the seats, which feature the Lamborghini and Pirelli crests embroidered in red. Leather inserts adorn the door panels and the seat sides. And finally, to underscore its exclusiveness, each car will have a ‘‘Pirelli special series’’ plaque inside. The plucky powertrain providing 515 kW (700 hp) at 8,250 U/min combined with the ultra-fast ISR transmission enables top-level performance for the Pirelli model: 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 2.9 seconds and top speed reaching 350 km/h.
