  1. Is the "dark smoke" you're seeing when you rev it pretty clearly more black than the blue smoke (I assume) you're seeing when you start it? If so it may be from too much fuel, i.e., it's running too rich.
  2. The airflow issue through the center section was also discussed in the lengthy thread on the RSC bumper and while I don't remember Hershel's specific explanation, he left it closed for a reason. I think it related to the differences between the 560 and earlier G under the car. So most people seem to have left it closed.
  3. You still have my number? If so don't take it to Vegas.
  4. I gather there are a few people running PSC's in 19/20, but it looks to me like the only choice for the rear is a 315/25/20, which appears to be .8" taller than the stock 235/35/19 for the front. I would have thought that much variation in OD might well cause a problem with the AWD system (most people running more typical street tires in 19/20 run a 295/25 or 305/25, which is much closer to the stock sized front). Can anyone who is running PSC's in 19/20 clarify what size they're running on both front and rear? Thanks.
  5. I'm probably going to have film put on them now that I got the gouges removed. I'm not familiar with lamin-x though.
  6. Correct, the lens and light stayed in the car just like it was. Here's a couple of pics of the worst gouges. I'll try to take a pic of the lens now tomorrow.
  7. Actually yes. The clearagain guy I originally talked to is based out of the Tampa area, but his son-in-law has the clearagain franchise in Columbia, SC, so rather than pull the light out of the car and ship it to Tampa, the son-in-law ran up to Charlotte while my car was over there and machined the gouges out of the headlight lens. It looks great, and apparently it took several hours to accomplish. As noted earlier these were not light scratches by any means, but were gouges that were at least 2-3 mm deep. So the lesson is that kind of thing can be machined out, if someone knows what they're doing and is willing to tackle it. Thanks again for putting me onto the first guy!
  8. What size 20 are you running? The only one I see listed that would work is a 315/25/20, and it's .8" taller than the stock sized front tire--I would have thought that much differential would pose a problem for the AWD system.
  9. What is that supposed to be, exactly? It obviously isn't rwhp numbers if it's supposed to represent gains from an ECU tune, and if it's bhp numbers, did they really have the engine out of the car? Not to mention that if it's bhp numbers the "stock" power output (if that's what the lowest one is) is actually low for a 560. But the lowest one is right at "rated" power, i.e., 560 bhp, which makes me think it's one of these extrapolated dyno sheets where someone supposedly dynoed a car and then converted the numbers to bhp, which raises all sorts of potential issues with conversion factors and how they estimated driveline loss etc. and is pretty much worthless IMO. Why not just dyno the car before and after the tune and give the rwhp numbers for both?
  10. Thanks Ray! BTW the decklid turned out great--still can't believe how incompetent UPS is though. Wish I lived closer to you as I'd love to see your Murci!
  11. Yeah I noticed that stuff too. I actually have that car insured with State Farm, which was less money than a policy from Hagerty with a lot of restrictions and things on it. And I've taken it through the drive-through at a couple of fast food places. I've exchanged some email with the writer and plan to set something up with him sometime soon.
  12. Yes, that kit is called the "Tornado." There are ads for it in the back of many car magazines.
  13. Yeah I may have to draw up a non-disclosure agreement and have him sign it before the ride--I get editorial control and veto power over any subsequent column about the car. Lol.
  14. Yes. I think all three major tuners (Underground, Heffner & DLM) are doing bolt-ons now. I had mine done at Underground, and board member Kisco had his done at DLM. There are fairly recent threads addressing all the details in this section, the Gallardo section, and the General section if you poke around. But you'll get more power than that--even at 4 psi on pump gas you should see a 200-250 rwhp gain.
  15. I thought about that, and another thing that occurred to me is I could get a couple of other guys I know locally involved who have some cool cars (F430 Spyder, Phantom Coupe, etc.) and he could meet up with all three of us. I know the writer would be thrilled with either scenario, but with all the economic mess going on I'm sure there will be more than the usual number of people who perceive anything related to owning cars that cost six figures as obscene frivolity. But life would suck if you had to live it as defined by the whiners and haters, so I'm not gonna worry about it.
  16. Definitely gonna do that. Can't wait to see his face when he finds out it has turbos too!
  17. I know I don't live in a big city (city population is ~50k, and the local MSA is closer to 200k), but I still wasn't expecting an article in the local paper merely because I happened to pass one of its columnists. This is on the front page of the Metro section of my morning paper, and I was holding my breath when I saw it hoping that somewhere down in it it didn't say I should have been arrested and waterboarded for endangering the public, etc. But it turns out the columnist is apparently just a car guy and was excited. Who knew. What was this sleek black sportscar passing me on I-26?
  18. Looks great Jason--congrats! Looking forward to hearing about the power it makes.
  19. I picked up the Porsche trickle charger off ebay for ~$70-80 and it works great as a maintainer. I've linked one below, although that's not where I bought mine. It's basically just a plug for the cigarette lighter in the console and an AC adapter box with a long thin wire in between. Given where the battery is in the G, it's much easier to plug into the cigarette lighter than try to connect to the battery, and the wire is thin enough that you can close the door on it. I'm not sure if one of these would bring back a totally dead battery, but it would probably bring back one that was down enough not to crank the car (although it might take a while). Oh and lock the car while you have the maintainer on it; there is a big difference in the amount of current the car's electronics draw unlocked v. locked while sitting (i.e., it pulls quite a bit more current unlocked). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Genuine-Por...alenotsupported
  20. Good stuff Fadi, as usual! You're a one-man bolt-on GTT testing facility!
