  1. It gets better! If you pick up the Nov, '05 issue of Motor Trend, you'll find an interesting article on pg 80 about Malcolm Bricklin (Yes, that's the same Bricklin that made the "Bricklin" car in the 70's). The spot light on him is concerning his new incredible idea to import Chinese cars into the U.S. Some of you might have already read about it in the Wallstreet Journal. The company is to be called "Chery", but GM is currently in legal proceedings with Bricklin in that they say it sounds too much like "Chevy". They already have 5 models picked out and ready to go. Pininfarina-designed Conv/Coupe (200HP Turbo 4) $19000 Coupe (3.6 L V6) $25000 Sedan (AWD 3.6 L V6) $19000 Crossover (SUV w/same V6) $19000 Minivan $19000 The cost will be $200 Mil Plus to get the project going. Yes, this is the same guy who imported the Yugo into the U.S. in the 80's. The project is already processing... Lord Help us all!! Willy
  2. That's easy... '05 LOTUS ELISE! New from dealer (not the ones that have gouged the price either!!) $43K. 0-60 in 4.6, and unarguably the BEST handling in anything under $50K, if not $500K! For another $6500 from Force Fed (Installed BTW), Turbo charge it and then it gets 0-60 in 4.0!! Let's not forget that it's a true Exotic car as well! Nuff Said =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> The Iceman
  3. Looks like it would have a great front wheel turning ratio... if it can even turn at all ](*,) moon3
  4. Wow, your almost comparing Apples to Oranges here! If you want handling and exotic, go with the Elise... if sheer straight line power and comfort is more your thing, the Plastic mess-06. By the way, you can Turbo charge your Elise for under $7000 with warranty from two different U.S. Elise specialty shops. I can get the contacts if you're interested. IIRC, that's about 80 extra HP. Just my 2 cents and then some
  5. AMEN!! :supz: :supz: :supz: :supz:
  6. Too bad we can't take this 1400 lb. baby on the street (legally at least ) And Lotus is just getting started (again!)...
  7. Let's see now... 1978 Porsche 911SC 1971 MG 1979 Lotus Esprit "JPS World Champion Edition" 1964 Porsche 1965 Mustang Convertible (Rare Baby Blue) 1967 Pontiac GTO (Had the Tri-power in there for a while ;-) 1989 Ford Escort GT 1991 Ford Mustang 5.0 Convertible 1994 Mazda MX-6 (Design ahead of its time) 1991 Honda Civic 1998 Chevy S-10 Pickup 1997 Ford Explorer (All around Piece of SHIT) 1997 Porsche Boxster (1 of only 3300 actually produced in Germany Porsche Factory) 2002 Lotus Esprit "25th Anniv. Edition" (#94 of 100, Last Azure Blue Esprit made!) 2002 Mercedes Benz CLK-430 Convertible (Special Order White/Blue top combo) At least that's what I can remember for now... Man, Forget sliced bread :butthead: Thumbs up to the combustion engine!! :supz: :supz: :supz:
  8. WOW!! Can you guys talk some serious SHIT!! jry Anyhow, THANKS Plastic mess-06 for just being out there for us!! I have two very close buddies out there with families over here... it ain't a pretty thing. As for Limey, what was it that you drive?? Noticed you said Miami, FL. Get your ass out to Tarpon Bend tonight around 7pm and hang out! I'll have my Esprit with me and another buddy with his Murci. All in all, we're all car guys and I'm a firm follower of anything that can take me around a 70 degree turn at 70+ MPH :supz: Although in my world, LOTUS is what does it for me :notworthy
  9. My only comment is "DAMN! I wish I were there!!!" What parts is this "spirited run" taking place?? I need some more of you guys down my way (Miami, FL)... You'd love our FL Lotus Club Keys Poker Run. I also agree, fastest is fastest and that's that, but even if it were, there's ALOT more to any high performance car than just straight line racing, boys! I can't tell you how many times I've confidently overtaken cars on the curves or simply due to proper maneuvering and shifting. Although I don't doubt whatsoever that you were able to take out those 360 F-Cars... I can easily atest to that Keep the Street Parties Jam'n!! :partyman:
  10. Man, I'm gone for 2 days and miss another great thread! :rant Let me also cut in here if I may... First of all, let's keep in mind that due to warranty issues, any stock Lotus Esprit after 1998 comes pretty much "governed" from the factory at 350 BHP. Just FYI, I have a '02 V8 Esprit that I dynoed in April of this year. The temp was around 98 degrees, Very Humid (Miami!) and worse of all, the fan they had in front of my radiator seemed like it was being manually spun by George Burns during his last years (May he rest in peace)! hb Considering my Dyno results (8K miles on car at time of dyno) of 312 RWHP & 264 lbs./ft of Torque, I must say then, either the loss of power at 11% (350 Stock BHP to 312 RWHP is a loss of 11%) is TOTALLY GREAT & CORRECT, /OR/ the Esprit comes STOCK with at least 367 BHP (considering a loss of 15% as the standard goes) or 380 BHP (at 18% Loss). Either way you look at it sounds Very Nice! :supz: Although due to other research details, we suspect the 365-370 stock BHP. Lotus only offers 3 factory options/upgrades for the Esprit: Removeable Glass Roof, High Torque ECU, and Lotus Red ECU. The ladder puts the Esprit where it should be power-wise. Considering a 15% power loss from crank to wheel, and as per Allan's dyno numbers, his Esprit should be running 435+ BHP at the crank (450 BHP with an 18% loss). Imagine if you added a charge cooler to the damn thing!! Anyhow, that's my Lotus-101 for the day. And as Allan said, I also think the Esprit is faster than the Gallardo. Not only cuz of this, but also due to a fun previous "spirited run" on I-95 with a Blue Gallardo which proved this all to well. That was one fun ride, anyone on the list??
  11. On a Turbo Charged car, you can help those 0-150 times by installing SSBOV's. This will prevent you from any backflow, thus loss of power, on the up-shifts... hence a much healther, smoother (provided proper shifting technique) and QUICKER ETA to the Goal! On a Non-Turbo/Superchared car... Install a Turbo or Supercharger :supz:
  12. T88's Huh! NICE!! As for the Dyno numbers.... HOLY SHIT!! REALLY NICE!! Whereby are you in Miami?? maybe we can hang for Happy Hour this Friday and I can see what Turbo's the size of JaLo's @ss look like!! "abolf" (or how ever you spell that ID) also wants to hang.... Any suggestions?
  13. I saw the vid just so I know what the car looks like incase I see the darn thing on the road so I can just hang next to it respectively..... until we hit a curve or corner of course :anal
  14. The V8's come with Garrett T25's. It's a 3.5 V8. And definitely, if you want anything over 1.0 boost, you'll need to start looking at bigger turbos. Furthermore, once you do start getting into anything over 1.5 BAR, you also will need those Intercoolers and even changing out your pistons for Forged ones. Those Charge-coolers do make a difference though. An Esprit pumping anything over 450-475 BHP should do some amazing numbers. The best performance will definitely be in 2nd and 4th gears. Together with a much more experienced driver, we "soundly" were able to get 0-60 in 4.04, and that's just with the Lotus Factory High-Torque ECU option, K&N's and Hyperflow exhaust... and that's also including Cautious shifting/driving. THis was achieved with 2 passengers in the car, one of them controlling the G-Tech Box. With the Race ECU, you should definitely be able to get under 4.0 without a second thought. This was also before I had my Gear box Blueprinted. BTW, when could we expect the Esprit in Makes & Models?? Man, how do you get these hook-ups, here I am driving, testing and upgrading my Esprit, and the only attention I get is from innocent bystanders :notworthy
  15. Wow! I have no words! Maybe he forgot to mention that the Lambo was racing him in reverse??? :finga:
  16. Z-Man, Allen, forget all the idiots, and always know that After the second guy, the story will always get warped Beyone All F@!!ing Recognition. The FUN factor is still in as long as YOU guys keep it that way. I will admit though, lots of sh!t talk on that forum. I still say the Plastic mess-06 is a very formicable car. All prejudice aside, I have raced 2 Plastic mess-06's in South FL so far, one moded and the other stock (I think...). Blew away the stock one on an open city road from a red stop (although he did spin too much...), and I the moded one on US1 from around 30 mph to 100 mph with 2 cars length. Keep in mind that a modified car is one that has various options OUTSIDE of manufacturer options able to be obtained when new. Allen only has the better ECU offered by LOTUS and sold that way if you so request it. Aside from "adjusting" or "tuning" his wastegates, his Esprit is also at a stock level. Either way, when runs or race bragging rights get "interesting", I always take it to the track ... and usually win ;-) Laterzzz, Iceman "Strive to Drive Ice Cold... No Mistakes!... Nuff Said"
