  1. Most people didn't get to the place where they can afford an Aventador by "not sweating" 20K here or there.
  2. Tattoos and advanced life planning are often not synonymous. Barkley - jeeeez... although the guy that gets beaned at 1:20 should have expected it.
  3. Me too. I think the last couple episodes have been a little flat compared to the rest of the show. Perhaps this is the calm before the (M-60) storm?
  4. If people would GIVE the attention in a polite manner, then perhaps the 'jaded' owners would return it in a polite manner. I had some super cool moments with kids freaking out that I was letting them jump into the drivers seat for a picture with their Dad, etc. That puts a smile on everyone's face. But for each time that happens, I have had a walk-by flatbill ghetto DB's that just wants to make a scene, or people that pace you for miles right in your blind spot, etc. It's not torture, but it is annoying and makes me think twice about when I am going to take the car out.
  5. Maybe 7/10. It's akin to dating a hot/high maintenance chick. It's fun to "land" one, exciting to explore it for a bit and experience some cool stuff together, then your synapses acclimate and the hassles/costs aren't worth it anymore. Neuroscience 101.
  6. Same here. The majority of people are non-genuinely interested in the vehicle/driver. They are the "People Magazine" types that just want to know how much the car costs or what you do for a living. fcuk off.
  7. I have the wide cassette because I ride my DH bike just about anywhere. I did Noble Canyon on it a few months ago. The Hammerschmidt comes in a freeride version with a solid (i think) spindle BB and stronger crank arms. I got the lighter AllMountain version because I'm only 155# and I ride pretty smooth. I dunno, it's hard to keep up with the technology. I'm about 5 years behind. Apparently they make rear derailleurs with clutches now and the Hammerschmidt is passe. Who'd a thunk? Lowrider DH bike!
  8. Well, since you asked I forget what front ring I have, prob a 42, and with a 32 rear I can climb most trails on M1. I just got a Hammerschimdt yesterday for the above pictured UzziVP, so we'll how that goes. Never used one before... but it might be good for my DH bike too!
  9. You've got a good site for an elevated negative edge. I'm a big fan of negative edges - it's a nice way to juxtapose the functionality of a pool with drama of backyard art.
  10. Before the Obamanator, I bought my WASR-10 in the Cabela's parking lot, outta some guys trunk, from an ad on craigslist, for $300 cash. You know, exactly the type of scenario demonized by the investigative reporting shows. It's what a WASR-10 is supposed to be: inexpensive, basic, somewhat clunky and loose, and goes bang every single time.
  11. Huh. Never seen a 'wrap plate' before. Interesting!
  12. Me too. I bailed out on HOA managed communities and will never go back. In this case, you're probably screwed. Hopefully you know someone that can move your cars for you. Otherwise just chalk up the towing fees to "HOA Bonus Dues" for August.
  13. I watched an interview with the Homestead owner. He said that he's ready for another "project". Apparently he gets his jollies from building the places and spec'ing them out, not necessarily living in them.
  14. Gymkhana RZR edition! What a great location they found for that video. Those side by sides are so popular out here in the desert, perhaps partially because they're street legal.
  15. Agreed. 14.5" doesn't justify the hassle/expense of the tax stamp. 10.5" gives you the shortest possible barrel length while maintaining "decent" ballistics. My nicest .223 AR SBR is a 10.5", and my next project is a 10.5" ACR.
  16. I always measure the shortest OAL. But, what if you get a different stock someday? Your OAL will change. Yet another reason the OAL requirement is goofy.
  17. Yeah, I agree with everything you said and that's the way we're forced to do it... The difference is that to me, a 900 mile drive is a big fcuking hassle! At the risk of getting more complicated than this forum practically needs: Form 1: Assembling an NFA weapon from unrestricted parts. That's how I usually do my SBRs/SBSs, and it does not require an SOT at any point. You take an unrestricted AR15 Lower receiver, apply for your stamp and then assemble the SBR once it's approved. So, if you have an old AR laying around and want to build an SBR, you wouldn't need to drive 900 miles... except for the 12 seconds it takes your SOT to "pre-assemble" your parts and measure your OAL. In order to follow the letter of the law, that's what you gotta do. Driving 900 miles for a 12 second step seems kinda ridiculous. People like you and me have an SOT on every corner, so it's not a big deal. But if you gotta drive 900 miles....My objection is purely from convenience. Form 4: Purchasing a 'factory' NFA weapon that's already assembled, and must stay in possession of the SOT until approved. All of my suppressors were transferred on Form 4's, since I've never built one myself. So in the case of Form 4 weapons, you must involve an SOT for the whole transaction and make a few trips to their shop. ps - my original post (#1584) should have had "*unless your SOT does this step for you, then it's legal", or something to that effect.
  18. So long as they've paid their SOT Most of my SBRs were done on Form 1's where I'm the "manufacturer", thus subjecting me to the quandary in my previous post. Thankfully I have an SOT buddy down the street from my office, but it's still a goofy requirement. What if you live in Alaska and the nearest SOT is 900 miles away?
  19. Walking Dead was a little flat last season, but still ranks high. Breaking Bad is my current favorite and Boardwalk Empire gets honorable mention.
  20. Which has always seemed weird because the only way to provide BATFE with an accurate OAL is to (illegally) assemble an unregistered SBR.
  21. Or 9 months if you have ties to a TEA Party organization.
