Curious about the Veyron's Nurburgring time?

Sure it's got a thousand horsepower and AWD, but it's also 4,300lbs...how does that odd mix translate in terms of a Nurburgring time?

Well according to "Wheels Magazine" of Australia, lol, it translates to a time of "7:40". Which if a legit time, is identical to SportAuto's time for the SLR, and slightly faster than cars like the 996GT2, the Zonda C12 S, the ZeeOhShit, and the Murcielago.

Not by much though as each of those cars is within a few seconds of the mighty Veyron's time, and a few cars like the CGT turn in times roughly ten seconds faster.

We'll see what SportAuto can do with it with Horst behind the wheel. But right now, the time is 7:40.

:| i would think it would go much faster. How much does the SLR weigh? CGT is 10 seconds faster? I know the Veyron is more of a 'GT' car, but 1000hp is a good amount for a high speed track like the ring.

Is this a joke? I thought with all that power and great brakes it would be doing a 7:15!!! amazing...Guess the CGT is still the boss ultimately. Incidentally, its a really interesting track, and many cars youd think would do very well really dont, namely the F430 and the ford GT based on power etc. Porsches backyard:)

I think the Veyron in the hands of a solid driver should do better than 7.30 at the ring. There are lots of fast straightaways where the car will absolutely fly

Get Von Surma or Stuck behind the wheel and it would drop ten seconds easy. Can't compare a first attempt to the CGT, which has done over a thousand laps on the course murclovr.

those guys who have driven the N-ring 3000 times are probably very good drivers and can handle the cgt easily.

definitely cant compare, I thought this was a multiple run attempt and the best they could do, for sure sarma or someone that spends their time there can do better than 7:40, a GT2 can nearly do that...

I think the Veyron in the hands of a solid driver should do better than 7.30 at the ring. There are lots of fast straightaways where the car will absolutely fly

This isn't asking for too much at all.....

If Stuck got a 700 HP X5 around the Ring in 7:49, then what do you expect from 300 more hp, superior handling platform, and AWD to keep the power in check??

The Veyron crushing the Ring under 7 1/2 minutes is cool, but I'm more curious what it could do around a typical F1 track.

What they don't tell you about the X5 is that it was a purposely built car.Everything was modified on it,not just the engine.

The Veyron has lots of HP but is also very heavy.I don't think it would set any records around an F1 track. And with AWD,it probably has a lot of understeer in tight corners

As BMW is saying, the veyron is entirely a road car, the x5LM, was really just an X5 skin propped up on an LMP racer! the suspension would be brutal, the engine might not even idle consistently! overall, the veyron will surely have an admirable showing, but its home is long long open highways:)

It still amazes me that an SUV can be made to handle very well. I guess as long as you don't provoke the achilles heel of one (very sudden change of direction), you can in effect make them corner at high speeds.

The Veyron was never intended to be a track monster as you note. Thing is, people expect this $1M car to be able to do all things perfectly, and they don't realize that engine performance doesn't equal handling. It probably would do nicely at the Ring, but if I had to put my money on a Veyron vs. Gallardo SE or Murcielago at Monaco , I'd probably put it on the Lamborghini!

So Vanha,

Which is it, Corvettes are faster than whatever you own or is it just the standard, lame, jeolous, European excuses about corvettes: too big, fiberglass, etc...Also, the 7:56 time for a POS C6 was NOT posted by Dave Hill, he is the freshly retired chief engineer for POS. You obviously don't like corvettes which is your choice, however, do all of us own corvettes (and enjoy them) the honor of not calling them POS's.

Thanks,

Jimmy

You are more than welcome to have your own opinions and to voice them.

You might want to be a little more diplomatic and have less attitude considering you don't know anyone here.

In case you don't understand,CHILL OR SAY BYE BYE
