I have received the email telling me that I have to drop my car off next Thursday for prep and shipping. Now it feels like its getting close!

I wouldn't be surprised if when you get there they give you the keys to the museum and tell you to help yourself!

Have you got info on the rest of the hotels?

As usual, here, we are given the mushroom treatment, kept in the dark and fed crap :icon_mrgreen:

No I only had specific hotel info for the first night. Got quite a detailed itinerary sent through though - mentions pretty much everything apart from hotels...

It says 700 people & 350 cars - yikes!

I finally got a quote for driving insurance. For 13 days, AU$300,000, Haggertys quoted £5,350!

Who is anyone else using?

I am waiting for the Organizers to come with a quote for driving insurance. I sent an email regarding insurance and received reply that they are negotiating with two companies, one in London and one in Germany and will soon have a quote for all participants.

Meanwhile, I was testing my car before dropping off and pushed my Murcielago little hard for about 2000 feet twice and when I pulled the car into the garage, observed rubber burning smell from engine bay and opened the hood. I could see little smoke or vapor coming from around entire engine for few seconds. I am wondering whether I failed to change gears at appropriate revs, or burn the clutch or some hose got burnt. Did anyone have this kind of experience? Looked like overheating of the engine. Please advise.

I found lot of incidents on Google where Murcielago or Aventador or Gallardo engine catching fire when they tried to race for small distances.

I am planning to drop it off at dealer today for inspection. I hope they can fix anything found during inspection, before it is picked up for shipping in next few days. I am afraid, whether this leads to some major repair and I may have to miss the event, after preparing and paying for it for 6 months.

Please have a Lamborghini mechanic look at it as soon as possible. Make sure you tell him before the inspection. Rubber hosing finding a hot spot on the engine is one way a fire can start. I highly recommend you have it looked at immediately. It could be a very quick repair consisting of moving and reseating a wire. Get it checked. Best of Luck!

Lambo_Manju I hope the car will check out and you won't lose the opportunity to join the party, it would be a terrible shame after the anticipation.

Fingers crossed.

Lambo_Manju I really hope it is nothing. or that it is easily fixed

Ragingbull, Fortis, Teamsalamone

I turned out lucky. The car checked out perfectly OK. Dealer could not find any issue with the car performance or visible damage or any error/issue when hooked upto computer. They did all kinds of performance tests, called the Lamborghini factory to figure out the source of burning smell. Final conclusion is that I burned the clutch a bit with sudden revving. Clutch still has 80% life. Only thing my dealer recommended is to do the flushing of all fluids like normal service including brake fluid, for $750. I am doing it now as I can not find record of last service from the dealer I bought the car. I thought its worth it as we will be doing 1200KM driving.

SO, I will see you guys in Milan. I will be in 2005 Red Murcielago.

What is the best practice to use e-gear? To take little pressure off accelerator while shifting up or keep the pressure constant on accelerator while shifting using paddle? Any recommended speeds at which I shift to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th? I found Max speeds for each gear, not minimum. If the speed is not appropriate for that gear, it will not shift up even if I press the up-paddle. I thought that is guideline enough. Please advise.

Thanks

Great news Lambo-Manju looking forward to seeing you in Milan, beautiful car you've go there, it will be hard to miss :icon_thumleft:

Did we come up with a sticker for Lambo Power members to recognize each other in a crowd of 700 people / 350 Cars?

I remeber someone from Lambo Power administration mentioning that the stickers are already ordered.

Also after the Giro the cars are held for 11 days so I made a call and made some arrangements

As you know we asked if anyonbe knows of anything after the Giro.. for example there is the mile migre (spelling) very famous...the Gumball etc but here is what we are doing and we are open to any suggestions or hints and if anyone is interested that should be fine

We are arranging for security; a Concierge; and a luggage/support travel vehicle with reputable international co.'s

and we are doing this

after the trip:

Travel 170 miles to one of the greatest hotels in the world Grand Hotel Villa D'este in Lake Como for the lake view top suite

travel 335 miles to Hotel Sacher Salzburg through the Stelvio Pass (@Raging Bull may or may not be open our guides will go ahead the night before and scope out our route) (no seriously the Beatles and the Rolling stones love this place)

Travel 286 on AUTOBAHN HWY to Zurich through Bavaria!!! then stay at the Baur au Lac (no seriously folks a 150 year tradition of fuking balling here)

_walk the town with guiedes and security and concierge Old town; Lindenhof Roman Customs house; fortress and roman baths the

travel through the great Oberalp Pass!! to the GREAT ...VICTORIA JUNGFRAU SPA AND HOTEL!

Travel 160 miles to french speeking Switzerland and on to Beau - Rivage Palace ON THE WAY WE WILL DO A CABLE CAR ALPINE EXCURSION TO THE "VILANS LAIR" IN THE JAMES BOND MOVIE "ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE"

Note in most all team Salamone trips there is one James Bond theme day

Go through Lausanne the old town and gothic cathedral of notre dame!!

wow NOW ALL OF THIS IS FULLY ESCORTED; SECURED AND WITH AN EGLISH SPEEKING GUIDE AND A CONCEIRGE THROUGHOUT AND A SUPPORT LUGGAGE VEHICLE!!!!

I think I did good...lol

Anyone want to spend time after the 50th call me 631-697-9951 and discuss cause I am still just "thinking" and nothing is set in stone. If there is anyone who knows of something else going on please email [email protected]

That is my personal cell that will be with me in Europe and please feel free to call and say hi.

If any of Concubine's Family answer dont worry, Really, she rented them. Yes we are renting an entire family for her!!! its awesome.. and the goats...lol dont get me started...

I am happy about the pre giro.

THE GIRO IS AND WILL BE THE GREATEST SUPERCAR EVENT EVER ATTEMPTED

My little euro drives after are cool; im up for suggestions and if anyone is interested in any post giro sight seeing I am up to doing anything ...as well as continuing to plan the above trip.

Are you registered? If you are they should've emailed you the info, only the name of the first hotel in Milan was communicated to us.

I don't have it with me now, if Zack gets here first he might post it if not I could do it later.

I have been notified by the organisers allocation to this hotel:-

Westin Palace

Piazza della Repubblica, 20

20124 Milan

I am not sure if we are all in the same hotel at every stop. Due to participant numbers I suspect they may have to disperse us.

Does anyone know something about the stop in Rome? Hotels, where the cars will be parked during the night, if at the hotel or in a private parking, etc..?

There is no information as such on the guide we've received, no mention of the hotel name and no mention of the car park/display exact location.

It simply says that the cars will be exhibited in specially designed areas of he city centre with night time security surveillance of th cars and the car park.
