i understand this, but first hand experience with 2 X countach 400s and second hand with LP400 and All sort of later countach i drove, know or heard, (including many friends that owned one) you are one of the less happy with it

so probably or was not the car for your taste, or your car, even rebuilt, restored etc... was Still a bit down on power or not the best performer

i Sure believe the XJ220 is much better built and better driving car and yes... has to be expected being a 10-20 years younger car Built to be a F40 contender

FYI i know personally a XJ220 owner that had a very nice collection in UK: diablo Jota, F40, countach, etc.... and he said the XJ was the worst car of his collection.

i believe his 220 was simply a "bad" one, but he still think the model is a overrated sport car

more or less the way you feel about the countach

i found with vintage sport cars of 20+ years the difference btw a very good one, a average and a bad one is unbelievable. some countach were better than others when new...same goes for EB 110s and probably XJ220 to

i am still a huge XJ 220 fan and i am sure a good one is a great car... i almost bought one 5 years ago in green and still regret not having pulled the trigger at the time.i got a diablo instead but the XJ is a MUCH more special car imo

These cars are like art, so the like or dislike is very subjective. My LP400 was very well sorted, i would rate it as one the best driving Countach out there. I spent a ton of time sorting out the carbs, there was no bogging at full throttle and sorted out all the minor bugs. Very frustrating at times.

The LP400 is not fast, it looks great and sounds even better but it is not tomy driving taste, more like an art piece on wheels.

The XJ220 is very special, very well built and i agree with you, it is not that hard to drive or fix, just has a bad rap.

@Emilio: I like your comments with regards to the Countach. And congrats to your one, what a cool combo white/red. At the 50th tour was a white/red one with German number plates, I loved it.

When I was the GRANDPA AGE of 26, these shitboxes could be bought for a low six figure song....and a Testarossa for maybe $50k.

Oh man, those were the days of 2005. ;)

Your opinion is junk lol

You're giving a very indirect push for the 512 TR, which many on here would claim is no better than a CT.

That car may not be very nimble but it can brake from 130 to 80 with authority and felt pretty easy to drive otherwise. It felt a lot like a Diablo just not as fast.

And this one for Lpdaddy! :thefinger: :icon_mrgreen:

You should have wiped off your come stains off the car , you are the only person I know who takes the same pictures of the same car at the same spot over and over . Obviously no fcuking life .

I will send you some Viagra some you can wank off repeatedly without too much interruption .

Everything I described as a problem with the countach was from first hand experience , I restored the LP400 when i bought it , some of the issues are fixable and some are not. FYI I also own an XJ200s that is being restored , cannot compare the 2 cars , the XJ220 is infinitely better built than a countach and much better driving car , but that is to be expected .

I think it's not easy to find someone in the USA that can properly restore and service a Countach: it's very hard here too (and we are exactly where the car was built and I even sent the car to the shop of the former Lamborghini factory internal assistance point boss). So I can easily imagine that restoring and servicing one in USA can be a nightmare and/or an ocean of money. Reading what you wrote, maybe you didn't found the "right" shop: the car hasn't all those problems, trust me. It has several, but not so many and so big.

Here there were a lot of rumors about the Ferrari 208 turbo early model: bad working and so on. All bull s h i t s.

I have four of them, so I know how things are: you just have to send the car where they know how to properly fix/service it and pay the money they ask. Just then you will have a great car.

In any case no shop can erase the car's faults, that are the ones I wrote: no more, but no less, of course

ciao

I actually think the opposite. There are several places in the U.S. that are fantastic to fix/restore/maintain the Countach. Versus looking at say your build where you had constant issues with your car after restoring it. Gives adage to the saying, what makes you think they can fix them, when they couldnt build them right in the first place.

At the end, as I restored other cars after that unlucky Countach, I learned this: my carburator specialist was a dog. It did another disaster on an F car, that I had to fix with a much better carburator specialist. And now (that I just own F cars and a Maserati) I finally found an excellent Lamborghini specialist here around. I have to say this: you too need to have some experience to restore a car, while I hadn't it when I got my CT in 2009, that was my first classic ever. So: the judgement you have of your classic car, depends also from your ability and your restorer ability. I always wonder how could have been my experience with my former CT if I had the knowledge I have now: much better for sure and some money saved too.

For sure... Carbs are a nightmare if they dont know what they are doing. Hopefully you get another so you can do it again!

And Sidedraft webers are exponentially more difficult than downdrafts.

At least with downdrafts you can use a hand held syncrometer to balance them out.

With sidedraft you do not have the room. So you either have to have a multi cylinder manometer or have the engine out of the car on a test stand to tune.

The 308 carbed has downdraft carbs, but he did a big mess also there. I just learned this when my F mechanic told me "please tell to your carburator specialist to change work, as soon as possible". I asked why, then he asked me "do you have a bit of time? please wait here and see". Then, in twenty minutes, they showed me why. Just then I realized why my CT almost never worked as expected: Too late, unfortunately.

Carbs must be redone completely, with ducts ported and new butterfly valves too, new gaskests (all...) and same pieces for all of them.

So, coming back to topic, Countach is not so bad if properly restored and serviced: it's always an enemy, but sometimes very pleasant. My one just worked well for two-three hours after changing all the spark plugs. But also during those (very nice) two hours it had all the fault of the car (they cannot be fixed): it's not an easy car, but it's a fantastic experience to drive and own one.

It took me almost a month to set up the carbs on the LP400, i would go out for a drive, come back, do adjustments and repeat the process. I did get it right, the car ran perfect when i was done with it.
