TurboGallardo Report post Posted January 23, 2018 I don't know, that 720S seems more impressive than the Performante to me. Imagine what the LT version of the 720S will do, if they make one. Not to mention, the Senna.

Not to mention, the Senna. The reason why the Performante impresses me more. The Performante has an old school NA V10 very simplistic, the close competitors are all TTed, hybrid, carbon monocoque shells, very sophisticated tech going on, cost a lot more, to me the fact that the Performante kicks ass at that level makes it the more impressive car to me, if it had more power it would’ve made up the difference the McLaren gained in the straights I bet, unfortunately there is no hiding from a 800 HP car which is 200 kg lighter. By that logic you should be even more impressed by the Viper ACR, which is curiously absent from that list, but would probably set a lap time at or very near the top of that list. You want low tech, you got it in the ACR...Pushrod engine, manual transmission, front engine rear drive layout, tube frame with fiberglass body...But that's not a Lambo so you probably don't find it as impressive. Performante is a track special with some pretty trick aero. Also to call its V10 engine simplistic compared to the McLaren engine is a bit of an overstatement; the only difference in tech is that one has turbochargers and one doesn't. Yeah, it doesn't use a carbon chassis, but why not? McLaren has figured out how to offer a carbon chassis at that price point, why shouldn't Lambo? Don't get me wrong, I love my Performante, but come on...before it set the Nurburgring lap record you went on an on about how lap times were meaningless and not the point of these cars...then suddenly when it held the lap record lap times were important again. Now that other cars are emerging quicker it's the fact that they're N/A and simplistic in design that makes them so special. We get it, you love Lambos. This is a Lambo forum. I love my Performante too. But to dismiss other cars because their tech is better therefore giving them an "unfair advantage" is misguided. Fortis Report post Posted January 23, 2018 I understand why you said that but in my defense I’ve never seen a Viper in real life so I can not get excited about it. I like a bunch of other cars not just Lambos but I am the type of guy one ass one seat, I broke my rule by buying a second car and I never use it, because of that rule I buy what speaks to me the most and that’s Lamborghini. Also I apologize, I must clarify, it’s 1 am and not thinking straight, I meant simplistic the overall design/concept as in a simple formula, I wasn’t referring to the engine alone. Also I don’t think I dismissed the other cars, I am simply saying that the Performante impresses me more because it does a lot more with less. SV-N-IT Report post Posted January 23, 2018 personally these are both my favorite brands. ive owned 2 mclarens and 7 lambos over the years. after getting hurt resale wise on both mclarens I'm sitting out for a bit. with that said both the 720 and perf are great cars. the perf is more exciting to drive, faster on most tracks and sounds like an animal bone stock! the 720 is faster in a straight line, has some badass tech etc but I would still take the perf any day of the week unless it was at the drag strip IMO. now when the LT version comes out I'm back to McLaren camp, unless lambo has something new and crazy out by that time. JUST IN! Robb report named performante car of the year!

APB Report post Posted January 23, 2018 From the Ford GT article: The Ford GT also beats, in order, the McLaren 675LT, Chevrolet Corvette Plastic mess-06/Z07, Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 and Aventador LP 750-4 SV, Nissan GT-R NISMO, and McLaren 650S. (The others mentioned above in the 0–60 test haven’t been lapped at this track.) Among those "others" are Performante, 720S, 488 and etc. That means: 1. They haven`t tested/lapped the other cars yet, and the times are only estimates. 2. They have tested only 0-60 for the cars that are mentioned there. Have a read here: http://www.motortrend.com/cars/ford/gt/201...st-test-review/ Also the overall record at Willow Springs belongs to Viper ACR: 1:21.

APB Report post Posted January 23, 2018 Those other times have been done already. In fact, before the Ford GT. lap record was a manufacturer effort. Not apples to apples. Those other lap times HAVEN'T been done already, they exactly state it: "(The others mentioned above in the 0–60 test haven’t been lapped at this track.)" This doesn't get any more clearer. Motortrend themselves are stating it right after the lap board. Or do you believe in flat rumors and lies? Also you talk shit about lap times, yet you don't even notice or mention that Viper ACR was lapped by the very same Randy Probst in that video. It doesn't damn matter if it was manufacturer effort when they had the very same driver that was lapping these cars.
J_sta07 Report post Posted January 23, 2018 Someone has to say it but not really any conclusion that can be drawn from different laps on different days separated by mere seconds. Were the Ford GT and 720S ran on the same day? Were they ran on similar style tires (Mclaren on Trofeo Rs)?

The 918, Performante, and 720S are faster than it. Hell, I can show you the lap video of the 918. The extra statement is to regard cars in the 0-60 mph list such as the NSX, Camaro, GT3, GT3RS, F12, ThethetheFerrari, etc that weren't run at Big Willow and thus aren't on the laptime list. You think they friggin make up a laptime down to the hundredth and put it on their board? Dellusional ALSO, the ACR was lapped by Randy Probst at Laguna Seca, not Big Willow. The record setter for Willow Springs was C. Winkler... At least get your info right if you want to discuss lap times.
