  1. Thanks Placid. That TJ payday is...terrible...wow...for an ex-champion...I'd switch up my agent ASAP...has to get that cheese up. Wondering what kind of PPV deal Brock got. He made LOTS of money on Saturday...dang... -Olivier
  2. It's going to be a phenomenal card. I can't wait to watch it!!! wait...oh yeah right...my GF's best friend is turning 30 that week-end and I'm stuck partying with them instead... :eusa_wall: :eusa_wall: and btw porter, JJ never really did lose his title...so...small caveat there...but yeah, impressive amount of title changes for sure.
  3. Just wondering if anybody from the boards is coming to Montreal for the GP week-end? Driving in/flying in? I’ll likely be in town all week-end. Open for drinks if anybody is open to it. Cheers. -Olivier
  4. I've had conversations like this before with friends of mine. I have friends whose parents are worth multiple millions (some of them multiple tens of millions) and the other half of the same group comes from working class. We all get along, we all worked very hard, no matter the background, and everything we own, we've achieved on our own...for most of us anyways...some of them have had nice shortcuts handed to them, but mostly through hard work. However, I have other people in the "acquaintances" circle which cannot be put in the same "hard work" category and I always laugh at them a bit, living completely not bothered by the fact they are surfing on life without putting much of a grind to earn anything they have. One of my friend is always there to defend them, and as much as I'm not jealous or mad at them for doing what they do, I just do NOT understand how you can live your life, feeling fulfilled, without ANY type of "grind" to make you proud. That does not mean I expect the son of a billionaire to go to work 9to5 "just to work", but if you are into helping young African kids to get educated, go ahead, get your hands dirty and make something happen...the thing I can't stand is flashing the money, spending, not working, and living life as if it's all "normal" and they should not worry about anything...the emptiness feeling inside must be disgusting to live through...
  5. It needed a drop badly seeing the first pictures...did you have it dropped? I like the upgrades you did. Congrats on the purchase!
  6. Mendes losing to Frankie Edgar by KO on Friday was quite surprising. It puts in perspective what Conor did to him...Conor throws heavy leather, no doubt, and has impressed massively in the last few years. Yet, I can't shake the thought that Aldo will probably make him look quite a bit worse than his previous fights. Not saying it will be easy for Aldo, because I don't think it will be, but he is more versatile than Conor, which is quite uni-dimensional to be honest. The only truly impressive wins from Conor are Poirier (how easy it made it look to KO a pretty solid guy) and Mendes (he was coming off the couch, with like 14 days warning). The rest of the guys he faced are simply not really impressive wins in terms of quality of opposition. Aldo has been beating everybody in the division, and making it look pretty easy, for quite a few years now; Conor simply faced a couple of selected guys who tried to bang with him instead of taking him down like Chad did. Anyways, it will be VERY interesting. There is a lot of pressure riding on his shoulders, and I don't give a fcuk what he says about how "light it feels" to carry this whole game, it is now. He wants that $100M contract and all the perks that come with it? He needs to demolish Aldo, plain and simple, to silence the doubters and get that money. If he loses tonight, everybody, except the Irish nation, will point and laugh. If that does not mess with your mind, just a bit, the day following a horrendous weight cut, then he truly deserves to be world champion. I just don't think it will happen.
  7. Just watched the weigh-in and I found that Conor looked soooooo strained due to the weight cut. He looked TIRED...it looked like a tough weight-cut honestly. He did not look exactly like this in his other weigh ins. Maybe just me, but that was my impression. Aldo looked like his normal self. I guess we'll find out tomorrow night. Having a bunch of friends over and making 5 lbs of pulled pork with beer tasting. It's going to be a good evening.
  8. They own 20% of Suzuki, the Japanese carmaker. Selling that stake would most likely be MUCH easier and faster than carving up the empire. The stake in Suzuki is worth in the ball park of US$3.5B so that would be a nice start.
  9. it will be great to see McGregor against Aldo finally. I wonder how much damage Aldo can do with the kicks. I'd honestly love another Holly Holm moment with Aldo shutting the Irish's mouth...I think McGregor will likely attack the body of Aldo to try to find that weak rib...if it goes to a 5 round grind though, I would not be surprised to see Aldo win. I just hope his weight cut goes well and has gas in the tank, because Connor certainly seems to have a lot of gas. Weidman vs Rockhold...tough tough fight to call. I would not be surprised to see Rockhold win it. Woodman has great wrestling, Rockhold great BJJ, but I feel like Rockhold has the stand-up game...and supreme confidence... Jacare vs Romero...I go with Jacare on that one...Romero always gasses...it will be a perfect time for a trip by Souza. Maia vs Nelson...I'll go with youth and Nelson here...rapidly improving athlete...must have had a great camp with SBG... I hope Max Holloway can pull it off too against Stephens... I'm VERY excited for this card. -Olivier
  10. Congrats. Happy to see another one rolling in Canada.
  11. Telesto is my favourite color on the LP. Congrats!!
  12. I'm having trouble processing this is a "used" car. Jeezzzzzuussss it looks good buddy!! The stable is a lambo-fan wetdream. Now, can we have a few pictures of your music-listening room to compare how crazy the OCD is between cars and audio??? :icon_mrgreen:
  13. So it looks like UFC 194 will be pretty awesome. McGregor vs Aldo (lightweight championship unification) Weidman vs Rockhold (Middleweight championship) Souza vs Romero (Middleweight number 1 contender spot, i.e. next title fight contender) I'm buying this one.
  14. A 5 round decision would be very "interesting" as I feel that would play into Aldo's hands. He seems good at keeping the distance and moving in and out, kicking the shit out of the legs and body of McGregor. Conor is lower but more impactful output from his recent fights. If Aldo fights a boring, careful bout, keeping his distance, kicking a shitload, two or three takedowns with a bit of ground and pound, this could pay in his favour. I don't mind the McGregor era, but dear god it would be beautiful to see him lose and listening to that post-fight interview and conference...
  15. Opening odds are 2 for 1 for McGregor...I mean...I'd be willing to put a bit of money on Aldo with these kind of odds. A healthy Aldo on a full camp will be quite a handful for McGregor. I think he's a more compete fighter than McGregor...but Conor has so much power...it can be lights out at any point.
  16. I need to watch a Bruce Lee documentary. something awesome I saw not long ago.
  17. It was actually 34 seconds.
  18. Been reading all the Bleacher Reports on the app...so frustrated I could not watch that card. I'll have to wait a few months on ufc.tv and then I'll see the action I guess. I was rooting for Rory but it's too bad he could not survive the last rounds. As for Conor, I don't hate the guy, but I just don't enjoy the non-stop boasting (in any industry, in any situation). I'm a guy that enjoys humble people in general, so not a huge fan of the individual. He's quite the fighter though...his striking is so precise and technical. I think Aldo will need to be on top of his game to get his hand raised...I'm afraid his mind is not in the right place though and he's done as a champion...which is kinda crazy when you think he's only 28 years old... Betting odds are 2 for 1 for Conor right now vs Aldo, btw...who would have thought that just a few months ago...
  19. Yeah it's really too bad. I think it causes Aldo's downfall, unfortunately. Connor is good for the sport, but annoying as hell. I would LOVE for Aldo to shut him up good...but I don't think it happens. Shit CM might even KO Aldo...with a leg kick to the midsection as the start of his ground and pound...
  20. OC

    D-Day

??? Great thread OP...it is indeed a day worthy of a good thread/reminder.
  21. Who else deserves it? Bader?
  22. Announced tonight: DC vs Gustafson Weidman vs Rockhold McGregor HAS to win this fight, otherwise his hype train (and the UFC's) is over...Also has kinda hinted at retirement this week after the fight? His coach is retiring pretty soon I believe. I really hope he runs through McGregor...but it will be closer than what a lot of people think I believe. If it goes the distance, I think Aldo does it...I'm only worried about an early barrage of shots from McGregor. I think DC will have his hands full with Alex... Weidman vs Rockhold is going to be a HELL of a fight. Coin toss between the two I think. I think Lawler beats MacDonald, although Rory has looked GOOD in his last few fights. Anybody's game there also. And yes, Rousey gets it...
  23. Cowboy destroyed the guy's jaw. I'm looking forward to his rematch with Dos Anjos now!! Rockhold and Weidman would be a fantastic fight, much better than Jacare me thinks. Rumble's issues are in between the ears, now his defence. That guy needs a mental guide/sports therapist or something to bring him to the next level. And to improve his cardio. Belfort without the juice is just another highly skilled but very old (for this sport) athlete. He's going to fight again, maybe lose against a top tier but not top 5 guy and retire. The only interesting fight for him to do is against Machida in my opinion. Brazil vs Brazil could be a great headline for a Brazilian arena...otherwise, I don't think he has any credibility left IMO.
