  1. > Nothing beats a Verde Lambo! Except a black Lambo. Just look at your profile pic. :-D
  2. > One of the things I have noticed from Lambo ownership (and I have owned 7) is that it ends up being 90% for everyone else and 10% for yourself. I found the opposite to be true. My 40k miles in the SL have effectively been 90% for myself and 10% for everyone else.
  3. > All of our TT cars pass in CA. So you have a setup with cats and CARB-approved components now? If so, then I'm all ears.
  4. > I was under the impression that with OBDII vehicles as long as you don't throw any SES codes you're good. Yes, OBDII lets the smog station's computer see if your car has any smog-related error codes stored... but it also lets it see live data (e.g. during a brief dyno run), and whether or not your car is running factory or modified firmware. Here in CA we get a visual inspection (which a TT setup will fail, since it's not CARB-certified), OBDII hookup (fail again, since the firmware won't be original), and a dyno run (which you'll be exempt from if the car is AWD, since they were not gonna force every station to have an AWD dyno). So would a 1000 hp TT car pass w.r.t. the various numbers? Without cats... I don't know. If it had cats, then sure, it could be done -- after all, the Veyron passes CA emissions.
  5. I do take my black 2008 SL to central valley every now and then. I haven't been to Visalia yet though -- so it wasn't me in this case.
  6. > Does anyone know if the windscreen on a 08 SL is the same as a standard Gallardo? The parts diagrams show: 2008 US SL = 403845099 @ $3,846.32 2008 US coupe = 400845099B @ $2,880.32 same width and height, but different thickness (to save some weight)?
  7. 2008 SL here -- it's a DD crossed 39k miles today still on my original clutch snapshots suggest that I will make it to 60k on it

    Dash cams?

I tried a GoPro, but didn't like it: the case it too bulgy. I preferred the Contour HD, and used that for a while. Including for my one week 3,500 mi road trip in 2010. At that point I realized that staring at asphalt/concrete in HD gets old pretty quickly. In mid 2011 a Lambo telemetry system came my way at a great price. Yeah, its two cameras aren't HD, but the telemetry is very nice. I get a ton of channels and a ton of samples per second (since it does connect to the 1 Mbit CAN bus, not just the 256 Kbit one) and it's easy to install/operate (read: I don't have patience to operate a VBox). Some drives I record, others I do not. For basic after-the-fact telemetry there's always those few channels that the RNS-E nav unit records -- it does sample once a second whenever the car moves and its memory holds ~2k samples i.e. just under 30 minutes of GPS speed/position/direction.
  10. > I read the thread title and thought Guy Fieri died in a car crash. His car was stolen 11 months ago. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=guy+fieri+lamborghini+stolen
  11. > Having a isssue with the covering on the R button coming off. > Does any one have a fix for this without buying a whole row of buttons for $1500. Since you say "R button" but also "whole row of buttons", this doesn't sound like it's a Gallardo. But... if it is a Gallardo, then the R button is less than $100... and if it's the rubber covers of the center console button row, then you could get CF covers from MACarbon. http://www.macarbon.com/about-us/173-Galla...r-Knob-Set.html
  12. > What would be the most you would spend on a bolt on SC for your Gallardo? > Stage one kit producing 150-200 additional HP, no motor build, possible DIY, > kit would be 50 state carb legal. CARB legal... as in "would pass CA emissions"? If so, then -- from the perspective of the daily driver like me -- that would be a pretty big advantage over the existing TT solutions... all of which would get me into trouble within just days or weeks. Also, when you say Gallardo, are you referring to MY 2004-2008, the 5xx, or both? (The existing SC solution is 5xx-only.)
  13. > Wow, lots of great info! Any educated guesses on the models that do not have total production listed? For recent years you can look at the Fiat financial reports. They are available online, as PDF files.

  17. > They were going to sell that car to me for 131k. Good to know. That means mine is still worth well north of $100k. :-)
  18. It's the little triangular pieces on the left and right edge of the dash which are only visible when the doors are open... Thank you MAcarbon! PS: Ignore the wiring from the telemetry system, which is plugged into the OBDII connector below the steering wheel and has its cameras on the passenger side window corner.

  20. Ah yes, aerial patrolling... the reason for why I don't bother with a radar/laser detector.
  21. > Instead of charging tax on each car purchases there should be a tax credit like other states. When I bought my G SL back in 2009, I... uhm... failed to qualify for this: http://www.edmunds.com/car-news/vehicle-ta...tions-2009.html
  22. > they won't give me a license without being here on a visa (apparently a visa waiver is no good > 4-5 months out of the year As much as the US might like your money... your total length of stay per year is bordering on making you in- eligible for the visa waiver program. I find it surprising that CBP hasn't denied you entry under the VWP yet... http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/contacts/tip_lines.xml http://www.ice.gov/exec/forms/hsi-tips/tips.asp

In terms of overall vehicle weight, the difference is... well, let me have another dinner feast first... However, in terms of unsprung weight, the difference is quite notable. Well, at least to me it is.
