  1. Hey guys- so my buddy back in Kentucky just sent me this pic of an orange Murcie in Danville, KY (of all places)- he's seen it cruising around several times- this anyone on here? Just curious- it's nice looking. *Also, if this isn't the right area for this post please move it
  2. It does seem like there have been a lot of big quakes this year- I just recently found out that the largest quake on record was a 9.5 in Chile 50 or 60 years ago that must have been one helluva thumping!
  3. Ditto- fugly IMO. The V8 was awesome but i'm glad to see the return of the 6 EDIT: woops ^ meant to quote roguetrader
  4. I was literally just looking at that thinking "uh...what?!"
  5. this should work- havent tried it myself, but version tracker usually has good stuff http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/30342 EDIT: just noticed it wasn't free- oh well- you should be able to find something free (or just pirate it) also, you should check out msj.com (mac serial junkie) - those guys seriously know everything there is to know about macs and anything related to them- they definitely get nerdy and SUPER technical sometimes, but there is still a lot of good shit on there.
  6. I just finished 'Final Theory' by Mark Alpert- really cool book- kind of similar to Tom Clancy novels (which I also really like) but it's about one of Einsteins last theories (the theory of everything) and how it could be used to make basically super-weapons (maybe not the best description, but it is a real cool book) My all time favorite book though is Battlefield Earth by L. Ron Hubbard- the movie was an utter travesty compared to how epic the book is (and no, it has nothing to do with scientology) My favorite Tom Clancy books would probably be 'Rainbow Six', 'Debt of Honor' and 'Executive Orders' (they kind of go together) and 'The Bear and the Dragon' Timothy Zahn is another one of my favorite authors (sci-fi)- he does a lot of star wars books (nerdy I know, but they are really well written)- but his other stuff is good too (the Conquerors Trilogy especially).
  7. ^ That's the one! I saw you driving around within my first week of coming up to Pittsburgh- and I knew it was a sign of how awesome that city is.
  8. I've seen a grey Gallardo (I think a superlaggera) driving around Pittsburgh a couple times now- havent been quick enough to snap a pic- its nice looking though- that anyone on here?
  9. That is one of the most amazing things i've ever seen- you are truly living the life!
  10. You gotta love the exhaust pipes coming out the side- the Deusenburg SJ's were supercharged- were rated at 320 hp- pretty crazy for the early 30's
  11. ^ ha, thanks- it's actually and homage to a car my dad and I were restoring- he had a 1964 Buick Riviera which had a 401 c.i. Nailhead V8- it was a buick designed engine that had vertically oriented valve covers- the combustion chambers were subsequently slightly hemispherical in shape- good engine.
  12. just happened across this right after i left this site when i was surfing some of my news sites: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7512586.stm
  13. There's no telling what will be discovered/invented/whatever if this thing works even slightly. I was just thinking about how when the Wright brothers did their first flight, if you told them that within the next 60-70 years (whatever it was) that man would be flying to the moon on rocket ships they would have thought you were completely looney- there's no telling what is possible in just a few years time.
  14. Does this thing make anyone else think of Half-Life?
  15. i like how they say this things PROBABLY won't cause uncontrollable black holes that will destroy the planet- haha, you gotta love these crazy huge physics experiments
  16. ^ I like Jay's review of it- very well done. He does make a good point comparing uber-complex engines like the Veyron's with the relatively simple twin-turbo pushrod V8 of the Ultimate. Is it worth the price? Well that's subjective- If somebody buys one and is happy with it, i would say it is worth it for them. "i see some german food up ahead, it's a porsche, lets eat it!"
  17. suh-WEET :icon_thumleft:
  18. Ditto- that'll come out when Duke Nukem Forever does
  19. ^^ WOW and DAYAMN! are all i have to say
  20. oh man, yeah should've hung on to that one!
  21. ^ Yeah, for sure VegasSE, I can even appreciate a cool "ricer/import/whatever" as long as it's done cool (aka no stupid wings and kits). I am into performance cars of every era, from the 1911 Mercer raceabout, to the 1932 Deusenburg SJ (which had an inline 8 engine which was supercharged, had four valves per cylinder, dual overhead camshafts and hydraulic brakes, could do over 100 mph), and so forth. I grew up more of a muscle car kid, but eventually came to appreciate all cars.
  22. ^Ha, thanks- it's pretty hard to get the launch/wheelstand at it's peak, i was either too quick or too slow. I know what you mean about buick torque, i've got a 401 nailhead out of a '64 Riviera that i want to find a cool 40's or 50's sled to put it in- was originally going to fix up the Riviera, but the floorpan was entirely gone and decided it would be too much effort/money to bring it back so i sold the body and kept the engine and tranny. Anyway, the 401 is factory rated at 365 hp, 445 torque. I picked up an Offenhauser aluminum intake manifold for it a while back, built for three two barrel carbs- gotta love the six pack.
  23. Always loved the muscle Buicks- i went to the Buick GS nationals last may here in Bowling Green (they have 'em every year) and it was pretty amazing- there was some serious power there. here some pics Broken Axle, at first when he launched off the line we heard a bang and just saw shards fly out from underneath, we all thought it was the turbo and everyone kinda groaned, but "luckily" it was just the axle.
