  1. The engine does not rely on the bonnet vents to effectively keep itself cool. Those vents are just there to help control 'underhood' convective temps (i.e. helps keep wiring, sensors, and trim from 'overheating'). The actual cooling system on the Gallardos is incredibly efficient and needs little help even when the TT guys stuff 1300+ hp through it. The vents on the side panels above the rear wheels were really just there for aesthetics. If you looked through them, there is just part of the exhaust pipe that runs below it, but it is well insulated. I kind of miss them on my LP560...I thought they did alot for the car looks wise...The LP looks too refined...But I guess that's called 'evolution' .
  2. Yeah...Pretty sure we followed a harness in the engine compartment - May have even went through a grommet where all the computers and fuses are on that 'deck' behind the seats. Once you're in there, you can just snake your way into the center console, and get to the radio, etc. If you need instructions on how to take any of that stuff apart, MACarbon has good instruction on their site. lol
  3. Oh, I did that on my 04 G. It's not that bad. Can't remember, but I think we did go through a Grommet for the bonnet release, and then ran through the center console. It really didn't take long and wasn't that difficult.
  4. Hmmm...You must have little arms like a T-rex! Oh well...I guess the wheel extension would be a good thing then.
  5. Ummmm....The Gallardo steering wheel does move in and out...Just move the lever below the wheel (the one that makes it adjust up and down) - and just push or pull on the wheel, and it will slide back and forth...Then you can sit back in comfort!
  6. It's never easy, no matter how humane it is doing the right thing. Sorry to hear this. RIP
  7. Welcome - What year/color/trans you looking at?
  8. I used Cor-vet Z-o-6's as my track car for years. I've had three of them, and they are probably the most cost effective high-hp track car you can get. At the bottom of the price bucket would be a Miata, but they have no balls, so on big tracks they are at the back of the pack - and for me - Fast=fun, so I need powa!
  9. Cool vid...Well done. If you read the comments it looks like he got a tire sponsorship by Yokohama and will be doing a longer version in a better location. Should be fun to watch that, too.
  10. Totally different e-gear system and software. For the most part, the transmission itself is identical to the 06 with minor revisions. You could pour the finest quality olive oil from Sicily in the transmission, and it would never be as smooth as the 560/570's. The direct injected 5.2 liter motor makes a bit more torque which also helps the car feel smooth.
  11. The Gallardos are know for terrible radio reception. Satellite should sound good, though as well as CDs as DJ indicated. The sound should be 'ok', but don't expect club like bass response.
  12. Belfort looked good. We'll see if he can keep a streak going.... This weeks fights look good. I don't see bigfoot winning, though...Didn't Cain already bust his head open a few fights ago?
  13. I believe that part of the agreement with PowerBall is that you cannot remain anonymous. What are you worried about anyway...You're already rich!
  14. And they make them park in the dirt!!?!?!??!??
  15. Damn...I'm not a Porsche guy, but that is really nice! And congrats to you for wrenching yourself, and putting the time in to complete your dream car...I know it makes it all the more rewarding when you have a major part in rebuilding your own car. Enjoy it, and keep it forever!
  16. Isn't there a fuse diagram in the owners manual? (I have a 560, or I'd check mine...They have different electronics altogether.)
  17. Stronger? Not sure what you mean...But the 5.2 is a 'better' engine in terms of efficiency and power. Direct injection, cross plane crank angle, blah, blah, blah.. Are you really concerned about this?
  18. Yes. It's how EVERY one of my cars drove around for the first 10 years of my driving history. Once you break a little bit of it out, the rest will just crumble away. Get a hammer, a piece of ~1" pipe, and a big screwdriver and have at it...Should take you about 10 minutes each cat. Pop them back in, and enjoy the sweet sounds of 'test pipes'.
  19. Just take care of it like we used to in high school with our Mustangs...Take a hammer and a piece of pipe and clear that obnoxious honeycomb out of there. = FREE straight pipes!
  20. I can't see how that's possible. What fuse was it???
  21. You can't get ATE Gold near you? Most BMW and Audi dealers will have it. Try the ATE Gold Typ200 or Motul RBF 600 if you can get it. But yes, any *quality* DOT 4 brake fluid will work. If you are not tracking your car then it's really not a big deal at all. The only advantage to the more expensive fluids is the dry/wet boiling points - Both of which you will never come close to on the street.
  22. Which fuse was blown? If an engine bank went out, it shouldn't cause the cat to overheat since no fuel/spark should be entering the chamber. Glowing cats usually indicate a misfire or something wrong with the cat causing a resistance - I would pull that cat out and look at it and make sure that the honeycomb is undamaged. Misfire tubes/sensors just detect misfires - they do not control or modify the spark angle.
