  1. Don't see much of a facelift, more of a "make-up" job, but I already liked the previous GT3, so this is just a step up!! I like it (again)! Hey xavibass, I can sit here and look at your signature vid (R8 chased by Porsche) all day.... WHere's the rest of that clip??
  2. Still like the previous gen any day! Nice find!!
  3. The Ultima, with the factory engine/drivetrain, (I think there's 3 different setups), will do 0-60 in 2.7 and the 1/4 in around 10.5 I believe. Here are some specs on both the Can Am and GTR. http://www.exoticcarsite.com/pages/ultima-gtr-640.htm http://www.exoticcarsite.com/pages/ultima_can-am.htm http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarrevi...ultima_gtr.html
  4. Great event guys!! Hope to be joining all of you again soon! Looking forward to the Feb event (should all go well with my delivery that is... )
  5. Beautiful car, although other than the bigger front corner scoops, not much different from the current model. If the Fisker Karma S is not released by or within 2011-12, this will most probably replace my wife's CLK.
  6. Not too familiar with the L Islero. Were there any models made as a cabrio/spyder??
  7. QUOTE (Jason_B @ Jan 16 2009, 01:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow, amazing! Is the F430 stick? I can find out more details for you today if you're interested. Send me a PM, but yes, I believe it is manual 6 spd. Thanks...
  8. I just got word from my gov't contact on the following: 2009 Porsche GT2 $145K buys it (delivery in 2 to 3 weeks, as State finalizing processing) (not sure of the color yet) 2005 Ferrari 430 (red) w/tan interior. $125K takes it (recently appraised at $155K). I believe this one is about ready for delivery. I can't confirm whether they're repos or confiscations, but from past experience, they are in great condition. PM me if anyone is interested and I'll put you guys in contact with my guy.
  9. That vid's been out for a while, but I can never get tired of watching it!! Awesome car control!!
  10. Damn, what GREAT inspiration these pix bring at the start of what will be an awesome New Year!!! Thanks for the pix and sorry to the SoFl group that I've been MIA for over a year... too many projects and awaiting that much time for my car. If eerything goes well this month (Rossion Q1) I'll be joining you guys along with another 2 or 3 of my buddies. Bill, PM me if you get a chance, have a question(s) for you regarding this year's events... Thanks... BTW, what did you guys think of the Rossion Q1 (saw Dean with the Titanium & Blue Q1's in the pix)??
  11. I must agree... I live on Miami Beach and most cars people don't see in a life time I see daily over here, and the R8 still perks my 1st rate attention since I never see one around. I understand that our two local Audi dealers can't keep them on the floors. I've been told though that there are quite a few trade-ins or trade-ups going on with those who have bought the car thus far. It seems that it not that they have been dissatisfied, but rather not impressed. Someone always comes in and scoops it right up though...
  12. Thanks for the pix! That is truly a unique sight and moreover a classic truly deserving "props"! Would have loved to hear it roar down the track, I understand the M1 has a very unique throaty exhaust note...
  13. Interesting... Didn't know the GT-R went that far back (and even farther after some research...). Hot looking little classic.
  14. Well I'll always pick "passionate..." Man, that is my fav Porsche of all time, right next to the 356 of course. it's so damn good that they brought back the design for the latest 997 series. What's a well sorted '95 993 going for these days?? BTW, I just ordered a very descent Canon SLR, wouldn't mind taking some Hi-Res pix on whatever your project is to test it out...
  15. Been there done that with most of those mentioned... but you don't need to spend a fortune for good scotch/whiskey. On the other hand, this kind of liquor is definitely worth the big bucks once you get experienced taste buds. I just tried a new one that isn't very common, Compass. Try the $70-$100 bottles, although the $55-$65 bottles are just as good. It's a true wopper!! BTW, stick to single malts...
  16. Funny one of you mentioned the R8 to be a "hairdresser's" car, as there's a black one that (amazingly) is driven by exactly that... a hairdresser (and no, he does NOT own the salon!!) around the South Miami, FL area. As for all the comments on the R8/Gallardo comparison... I have also driven all the G's as well as the R8 (only the V8, not V10), and also agree that the R8 (V8) is somewhat underpowered. However, it is amazingly well balanced and probably one of (or "the") most DD exotics out there. The car is incredible eye candy as well. I for one love the LED's on the R8 as well as the Auston Martins, a true edge on the "cool" look, but like the glass engine covers, it will have it's trend as well. I have only driven the GTR for about a mile and it was straight line acceleration, and truly quite amazing considering it's 3900 lb weight, but not a nimble handling car whatsoever, but then again, I haven't tracked one yet and hear they are quite impressive. Now, in my world, I'm a hardcore "driver's car" fan, and therefore will always opt for the slighter robustness and feedback of the G. You can talk up the R8 all you want, but the feel is just not there. Maybe now it has the power, but still not the communication a good driver 'needs' to truly bring out the skills to circumvent tracks and streets alike. I'm a true believer in tech, having an IT degree which backs up my belief in it, but like everything else, it has its place. Sure, for my DD, I'd like my car to float over bumps, scan the area for ass, and make me coffee while I drive... but for nasty driving, hell with that!! I need to feel the road and have the car respond to every twitch move I make. Hence why I'm such a Lotus fan, and have ordered a Rossion Q1... even the greatest race drivers (whom have driven every exotic out there... hard!) will agree that driving it's predecessor (Noble M12 & M400) was "like nothing else". IMO, only the G Superleggera and Porsche GT3RS are in this class (well, the Lotus Exige as well, but sadly it's under powered). Funny thing... my wife tells me the other day as I'm driving with her in the Benz CLK around a corner that "these type of cars are not for you...". She said this b/c I tend to come a little too close to curbs and other interesting scenarios. These high-tech cars are designed to get you away from the "feel" of the road and your surroundings... Hell, I couldn't agree more... therefore I'll be ordering an ICON Landcruiser next... in a class of it's own...
  17. Yes, the one the Collection looks impressive, but $230K!!!!! I'd opt for the Maser instead, as it's more kin to a true GT and the 8C's performance specs are nothing out of this world. Again, it is a sexy lined design. Nice comeback by Alfa....
  18. Where can I get those wheels!?!?
  19. From some research I just did, 'most' U.S. vehicles tend to read on average 2-4% faster on the speedo than actual, but none that read slower (from factory). 7-10% though is a bit much... that means that at 200 mph, the Lambos are actually doing 180-186 mph...
  20. '02-'04 Lotus Esprit Turbo V8! Had 2 already... amazing cars that will make 500+HP with only $5K of "safe" upgrades, but an amazing exotic for the money no matter what... VERY rare as well... I TOTALLY agree with you as to the ABS as well... it will only hinder a well trained/experienced driver, especially on the track!! (I know this first hand as is why I don't have my Esprit any longer! ). Hence, why I've opted for the Rossion Q1... a street legal race car. As for waiting, if you're a true car guy, waiting will "kill" you in your sleep. If it's a matter of a year or two for the G, then wait... anything more, GET IT NOW! You won't see another buyer's market like this for a long time! (oncew we pull out of all this economic SH!T!). Great prices on the market now, and you only live once man! You don't know all the fun you're missing and all the great people you'll meet with your ride! On a bad day, I always feel better knowing my other "baby" is sitting downstairs waiting for me... anyhow, I understand the Mayans say the world will end in Dec, 2012... what're you waiting for!?!?!?
  21. VIPER... I've owned Porsche's and driven Vipers, and here's "my" take... Simply put, the Viper is an exotic and the Porsche is not. This is the same reason people 2nd guess buying into a POS ZR1 or Porsche GT2/Turbo b/c in the end, unless you're a car guy, it's just another POS/Porsche. On the other hand, my opinion is that earlier Porsche's are better all around performers than the previous gen Vipers, especially on the track, as well as being more of a daily driver (although I noticed you are buying it as a Toy). As already mentioned, if you can invest some time and money in the 'spacer' though (the spacer in between the steering wheel and seat, aka the driver!), the Viper can be a very formidable track foe given the right suspension setup. In a straight line though, a well sourced GTS Viper will clean house! In the end, I'm not a Viper fan only b/c I prefer mid-engine, all around performers, and the Viper is definitely quite the Godzilla hand-full... on the other hand, between a Porsche and Viper GTS, the Exotic Viper GTS get the respect and attention. I'll take a well sourced earlier gen Porsche GT3 anyday over a Viper, but the price difference makes the Viper a MUCH better deal!
  22. What's up!? Haven't been on a run in about a year! I had the modified Blue V8 Esprit and attended a couple of runs last year before the fateful accident in CO My younger brother owns the Orange Esprit. I should be getting delivery of my Rossion Q1 about a week before, so would definitely be down to attend. Please add me to your email list, as I reside in Miami Beach. Thanks....
  23. Not many around, and haven't owned one, but after driving it pretty hard for a day, it's definitely the next thing down from a Viper in the straights, but IMHO, handles much better and easier to control. If you're not sure, check out a Q1... Rossion Cars
