How big is it? S class/A8 big? Or more like a 4dr 6 series bmw?

I'd like to see that in a 2dr drophead version.

Larger than a 7 series

Love it, it actually looks like upscale Arnage with Rolls features. And the interior is sick.

If it is actually bigger than an S-Class or 7-series it will be a hit. Half of the Phantom experience is the physical size of the beast.

EDIT: New text from Autoweek

Rolls-Royce has christened its latest concept the 200EX--a name that picks up on traditional terminology harking back to some of the company's more flamboyant pre-war "experimental" prototypes and subsequently revived on the 100EX back in 2004.

However, it is well known that the luxury sedan will head into production as the long-awaited 'Baby Rolls' rival to the Bentley Continental Flying Spur.

The 200EX will be unveiled at the Geneva motor show in early March. The official line is that the traditionally styled four-door concept car provides "clues to a new Rolls-Royce model scheduled for production in 2010." Don't be fooled. What you see here is the car Rolls-Royce plans to roll into showrooms, right on down to the exterior and interior detailing.

Rolls-Royce design chief Ian Cameron gets the credit for the 200EX.

By showing the new car early as the 200EX, Rolls-Royce hopes to stir more interest.

We're told the new car is set to adopt a traditional Rolls-Royce name-Spirit, Camargue, Shadow, Wraith, Cornich, Cloud, Seraph--take your pick. Rolls-Royce won't give any hints yet on which one will be used.

However, with rival Bentley having already taken it for its own luxury sedan, it is safe to say the name Spur isn't among those on the short list.

"It's a modern execution of timeless Rolls-Royce elegance, breaking with some areas of tradition but retaining the core values," says CEO Tom Purves, He adds: "We expect the more informal, agile design to broaden the appeal of Rolls-Royce."

We won't have long to see the real thing. The production version of the 200EX is due to appear at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

The new car will be assembled alongside the Phantom at Rolls-Royce's facilities in Goodwood, England, although much of its mechanical package will be pre-built at parent company BMW in Munich, Germany.

More streamlined than the hulking Phantom, the 200EX cleverly combines traditional Rolls-Royce styling elements with modern design touches.

Neat features include an imposing grille, squinty LED headlamps that house the turn indicators, a stainless steel hood, bold chromed door handles, rear hinged rear doors up back, a prominent C-pillar and a subtly angled trunk line - all of which give the 200EX clear visual ties to the Phantom. Seven-spoke, 20-inch wheels complete the look.

Commenting on the new car's most controversial design features, its new grille treatment, design chief Cameron said: "We wanted it to be less reminiscent of the traditional Parthenon style and more like a jet intake." In other words, it's sleeker and more laid back than any Rolls-Royce.

The official studio based photographs don't show it, but the 200EX is a good deal smaller than the Phantom, stretching 212.6 inches long, 83 inches wide and 61 inches tall.

The new Rolls-Royce shares much of its underpinnings with the long-wheelbase version of BMW's latest 7-series. The wheelbase measures 129.7 inches, and the chassis is set up with air springs biased toward smooth ride quality.

Rolls-Royce remains tight lipped on just what engine the 200EX will use. The only detail being released was that will be a "new generation V12."

Our sources suggest a twin turbocharged gasoline unit with direct injection mated to a new eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Whatever the capacity, expect the powertrain to provide maximum torque at just a tick over idle.

In the words of Purves, "It might be our smallest car but it will still possess the indispensable Rolls-Royce quality of waftability."

It's 4 feet shorter than the Phantom, so I think the Phantom will dwarf it. I park my Phantom everywhere, never too big even in shitty parking garages in old casinos.

I wouldn't kick a phantom out of bed (so to speak) ;) -- But when I lived at Panorama Towers in Vegas I used to see one there all the time.... just looked big to me :(

True, but it's also a foot longer and a foot wider than a 760iL.

It will have massive presence with specs like that. In fact, only the Phantom will be larger, no other sedan comes close. I was doubtful when this project was first revealed a couple years ago but it appears they got it right.

I like it better then the Phantom. The Phantom is just TOO big, and the stock wheels and tires look like semi truck tires. Not my cup of tea.... :(

:iamwithstupid:

I like this one a lot although for the grill I am with the old school and prefer the Parthenon-style upright design --- a RR signature that shouldn't be tempered with.

I think rolls once again hit another one out of the park, can't wait to see one in black or white. I also believe this has a unique presence relative to the phantom, I guess you can say it looks more "aggressive" than the phantom. Rolls is on a roll.

I guess what surprises me the most is for a baby rolls they gave it a V12 still. Wonder if Heffner would TT my Phantom. :)

Love it. I wonder where they will price it. If they are trying to compete with Flying Spur sales it will need to be less than 200k. Somehow I think this will still be another price point. I would bet closer to 300k.

I think $250k is the magic price point. More than that is playing with fire, because they claim they want to move big numbers for this model and a $300k+ price point won't allow that to happen...just too close to big brother.

:iamwithstupid: Remember, Rolls Royce can price this at 250K as they really do not need to compete with the VW based Bentleys.

If they want to take Bentley Flying Spur customers and that is what I have heard they cannot do it at 250k. The 175-200 market seems to move cars but 250k+ gets to be much tougher. Either way it is an awesome car and I look forward to seeing it.
