Texas Mile is far from obsolete, in fact for most of us it simply reinforced what an amazing event it is both in terms of how professionally it is put on, to just the professional courtesy/behavior in the pits and camaraderie of the participants.

So very true and straight to the point.

For what its worth, I did 2 standing mile passes in my supra in the afternoon after things were re-calibrated. Both times I was at 8000 RPM in 5th gear which I just rode through the traps instead of shifting.

On the 28" tire I was on, 8000 RPM in 5th gear is 213 MPH. Both times the timing equipment said 188.

This is what the timing system reflected, I have referred your question to the techs.

Here is the answer I received:

MPH is a metric of horsepower. ET is a metric of traction and driving.

As for how it can happen... any way you can imagine. Driver rolls on from 70 mph, they're at the 1/4 trap doing 117 in 8.4 seconds. Driver rolls on from 50 mph, they're at the 1/4 trap doing whatever speed in whatever time. It has absolutely no bearing on standing quarter mile speeds.

Likewise, if you roll on at 2,000 rpm in 4th gear, you're not going to accelerate as quickly, in a relative sense, as you will dumping the clutch in first at 7,000. The gearing is different, the realized power is different, the wind resistance is different, etc, etc.

There are dozens of metrics that affect the speed and time. I have zero control over any of them. I can not tell you WHY a car took x seconds to get from point A to point B at a particular speed. All I can do is tell you what those variables were when recorded.

if the driver hit the marker @ 70mph that would mean it took a 1/4 of a mile to accelerate less than 50 mph, and that the SLR took 8.4 sec to go from 70-117.. So only explanation is the driver wasnt accelerating.

If UR really did pack up, that's quite something. I still believe the GTT is a platform that could really take it to the FGT's. I mean, there's a lot more boost to be had, nitrous?, and the need for a lot of suspension/traction control setup. What's with the starts of the GTT's, everytime it looks like a failed launch. It seems like they've never even had a clean run. Perhaps 40+ psi and a 200 shot at the end would make for an interesting run :)

I was just dreaming last night, but a boosted the hell out MP4-12C would be incredible.

I saw the SLR run multiple times.

Woman was not on the throttle the entire mile. Easy to hear her getting in and out of the throttle. Clearly the reason for her speeds. I was dying to ask if I could make a pass in it.

With respect to the accuracy of the timing devices, I arrived after the lunch time fix. My three runs were within about 1 MPH of my GPS. There were guys out there crying that the speeds were too slow. That's always the case with these events. Go figure.

This is what I observed after 12 noon:

Modded GT-Rs in the mid 170s;

Lighted modded still Supercharged Ford GTs in the low to mid 180s;

Modded Porsche 996 Turbo in the high 170's (Gary's car).

Lightly modded new Vipers 170s.

Twin turbo Gallardo spyder high 190s.

Lots of cars in the 160s and 150s that should be in the 160s and 150s.

I went 185 mph at a Top Gun Run event, and have added 50 rwhp since then. I went 191 mph at this event with 50 hp more at the wheels and is what I expected.

I don't know what was going on before lunch; however, after 12 noon speeds were accurate.

Once again I'd like to thank everyone for their support, enthusiasm and positive remarks. Thanks to Ray and Janna Hofman for allowing us the opportunity to be involved in such a tremendous project. Thanks to TJ, Zach, Aaron and John of Heffner Performance for putting in the long hours that it takes to ensure a successful outing each time we take the car out. Thanks to John Mihovetz of Accufab for building us the most incredible Ford GT engine ever! Thanks to Naoto and Brian Sakata for doing such a phenomenal job with the electronics on this car. Thanks to Dave and Francesca Bannister, Chip Beck, Torrie McPhail and many others for their help and support of this program. We have without a doubt assembled a team of people whose skill and dedication will be nearly impossible to match and without their help we could not be where we are today.

With regard to this weekend's event and concerns about the timing equipment I do not have a lot to say. Prior to attending this weekend we were aware that any numbers obtained during the event may be considered "unofficial". The purpose of attending this event was to race against two of the other fastest one mile cars in the world on the same day at the same facility using the same timing equipment. At the end of the day we had the fastest time recorded and we have V Box data to verify the performance of our car.

Anyone that has doubts about the numbers posted for our car from this weekend will be at a loss for words once this fall's Texas Mile takes place, I personally guarantee this and I hope to see you guys there.

Allegedly his life was threatened if he was to show up at the event. The armed bodyguard had a federal gun permit and was granted permission by the county and airport management. I asked them to keep him in the trailer and out of plain sight - obviously that was ignored and yes it was completely ridiculous and in my opinion some sort of publicity stunt and completely unecessary.

Threatened by who, another tuner? :lol2: Come on man, if you owned a bar, would you let a customer wave around an AK 47 assault rife? Just a headzup, some tuners take this shit way too seriously, and have gotten into fisticuffs/shoving matches at other events, although I agree this was probably a dumbass stunt.

This weekend definitely required a recalibration of the crazy ass track behavior scale.

He has the contact information for the persons that run the airport and was cleared for this in advance. They were paid and I didn't feel that it was necessary to not allow them into the venue with the understanding that they would keep him in the RV and not be flashing his weapons around. At no time did he come near the starting line or the tent and thats where I spent most of my time. None of my staff told me about him being around other participants or spectators, had I known this he would have been asked to leave and or I would have contacted the local authorities to have him escorted off the property.

It was more of a dog and pony show for him and at the end of the day - he is the type of guy that wants to be infamous instead of famous. There is always one in a crowd. He added a bit of shock value I guess.

why would they pack up?

After checking our run files after we made our shake down run we noticed the timing system was off at least 10 mph. At that point I talked to Jason to ask him to check his data on his next run to see what they came up with. By the time we got back around to talk to Jason there was about 6-10 people complaining about their speeds being to slow. From there we decided to park the car until the timing equipment was sorted out.

After lunch I had some guys stopping by our pits saying that the time they were getting were faster than what their GPS was showing. We got pretty frustrated at that point and decided to keep that car put up until the Texas mile.

Also I new if we continued to run and IF we set any kind of new record it would be doubted just like what has ended up happening for Peaks run. The good thing is Peak got his runs on a GPS V box or GPS Motec. That will prove without a doubt that they did it. I look forward to seeing it myself. I will also be glad I was there to witness something that will probably never be topped.

As far as competing with the other fast cars? That could have never been possible if we were not getting accurate timing as seems to be the case.

For the TT Gallardo fans.

We made 1 low power shake down run with our new set up and easily went 247 Motec GPS verified. I look forward to the Texas mile were there will be no doubt on the timing system. Texas mile is going to be a one hell of a shootout as I was told that Johnny with the white GT will be attending also to settle it.

FYI - I just printed your time slip

11:20 am 4/25/10

1/4 mile time 10.969 @ 160.403 mph

1 Mile time 23.547 @ 246.763 mph

So if your Motec GPS shows 247 we were on the money.

Yes but first you told me we went only 236. Then later after lunch you said you did some recalculating and came up with the # close to what I told you and said it was because Jason Heffner told you that you had to move the sensors at the end of the mile as they were on the stripe.

FYI The only # I gave you was at the one mile mark. The 1/4 #s you just posted were not even close to our data.
