An ‘irate' Allen Iverson hurls expletives at cop in Lamborghini stop, report says

Allen Iverson has lots and lots of fancy cars.

At least, that's what he told an Atlanta cop in a fit of pique during a traffic stop in Buckhead last week.

The former NBA star hurled one expletive after another at the officer who pulled over his gray 2007 Lamborghini Murcielago around 6 p.m. on March 30, according to a police report obtained by the AJC Wednesday night. The stop near the intersection of Peachtree and Piedmont roads occurred because the officer saw the sports car switch lanes without signaling.

Iverson, who was a passenger in his own car, grew impatient during the stop and wanted to get out and walk to a nearby restaurant. He was getting "irate" and the driver, Antwuan Clisby, was getting "angry," Officer S.J. Durham wrote in the report. Their behavior prompted a call for a backup officer.

The car had a dealer tag, and after running it through a computer, Durham realized it was two years old.

When a tow truck was called, Iverson got really steamed.

"Take the vehicle, I have 10 more," he reportedly told Durham. "Police don't have anything else [expletive] to do except [expletive] with me. ... Do you know who I am?"

For the next 20 minutes, according to the officer, Iverson "went on and on" about who he was.

"I stated to Mr. Iverson, it really doesn't matter who you are," Durham wrote. "You tried to conceal your vehicle with a fake drive-out tag due to you not paying for your tags."

Apparently the tag fee on a Lambo is kind of pricey. Clisby, Iverson's driver, responded: "Would you want to pay $10,000 for a tag?"

On the "value stolen" line in the report, the officer wrote $10,000.

Iverson and his driver were released and a tow truck hauled away the Lamborghini. Clisby was cited for failure to signal while changing lanes and for driving a vehicle with an expired tag.

Iverson eventually calmed down.

He returned to the scene "and apologized

I thought he was broke now. Last I had heard he was banned from just about every casino in AC, and couldn't pay back some of the money he owed them.

No, that's Antoine Walker.

Err, just read on Wikipedia that might describe AI as well! It wouldn't surprise me. My friend's friend is a dealer in the high roller room of a Casino and said AI would come in and blow like $100,000 like it was nothing. It wouldn't surprise me if he's broke now.

Pathetic. Trying to get out of license plate registration fees when you have "owned" a Murcie for 4 years? Putting on dealer plates and trying to get people to think it's brand new is some ghetto shite....plus those huge wheels on the Murcie look stupid.

The whole situation is stupid . Iverson is a moron and the cops are not excatly that much brighter either. How a routine unsafe lane change has to escalate to something like this is beyond me but i have seen things like this happen over and over. While i am not condoning Iverson's behaviour, the cops really need to lighten up in some of these situations and use some discretion and common sense instead of trying to show what bad asses they are and how they can make one' life miserable is they fcuk with them.

The whole excercise ends up being a huge waste of time and taxpayer's money.

I normally never stick up for police officers, but I am sure that there is WAY more to this particular situation than is being reported. He probably did something stupid in a very busy intersection on a weekend night with a ton of people around. There are a lot of night clubs and things in that area, and he probably did something to attract the wrong attention. Couple that with some raggedy ass expired drive out tags hanging off the back of it, that were likely illegally issued to him (In GA, you only get one set of 30 day temp tags. They are serial numbered and audited by the state, but some dealers will throw their "buddies" several sets so that they don't have to pay sales tax or Ad Valorem to the tune of 5-7k a year). At first it said he was on an expired dealer tag, which would bring about a whole new set of "wood bat shampoo'able" offenses.

Those guys roll around down there like kings holding court. It is what it is, but sometimes when you do stupid shit in that particular part of down, it comes with a set of consequences. Couple that with AI acting the fool in front of God and everyone and the cops likely had to save a little face. Probably not the first time he has been popped with those tags or something similar.

Tax dollars being used less than wisely, likely...Tax dollars not being paid by a pro athlete trying to skirt the system, even worse.

I agree there are a lot of jealous cops out there on a power trip, but this shit really needs to be cracked down on. I see these assclowns down here every day acting like the laws don't apply to them. And in Southern California in particular it seems like almost every exotic is running around with no plates, or out of state plates. And before anyone whines and cries about how high the taxes and fees are look what these cars cost in places like Australia and Singapore! I don't like paying taxes anymore than anyone else, but if you want to play, you have to pay... Can't afford it, then buy a Kia.

Simple solution is to pay for your plates and be nice to the cops. No brainer for most of society.

I have no issue with cops in general . It is a tough and thankless job and without them we have chaos. However, i get really tired of seeing benign situations being completely blown out of proportion because the cop handling it thinks he walks on water. It might not be so in this case but overall, there is an obsession amongst cops to show force and throw people in jail for the lamest of reasons. All of that costs money than can be better spent.

Georgia ad valorem tax is retarded, if you have a few exotics you can take your ad valorem money and rent a place in Florida and legally register your car there and also have a vacation home or sublease it.
