dinko, the problem with your idea, IMO, is that you could then take to an even further extreme and argue that we eliminate all ethnicities except for just one. This way racial and ethnic hatreds will disappear, because everyone will be the same! But then take it still even further. Women suffer sexism, right? Well with advanced technology, the requirement for men to impregnate women could become obsolete. If so, why keep men around? They are often sexist, abusive, warmongers, etc...the world would be much more peaceful if it was all women. So get rid of men. So humanity is now one sex of one color. Take it even further though, make it where all stupid people are not allowed to reproduce (this was done to some degree during the 1930s-1960s via the eugenics movement, where some people were forcibly sterilized). Then go still a step further: make it where only physically beautiful people can reproduce. This way, we have no ugly people or stupid people, everyone is smart and good-looking. Therefore, far more equality!

The simplest solution is to stop supporting people like that, in time they will be weeded out of society.

 

For thousands of years humans have survived and thrived without handouts, I don't see why it's necessary now. Money spent on welfare should be used for the purpose of job training, a gvt agency that collects and centralizes data about the kind of jobs companies need to fill and are in short supply, in order to direct jobless people into training would be of immense service to society, rather than just thinking up more ways of giving away free stuff.

 

Then there are the people who don't want to work, sorry no one owes you a living. If they don't want to work, then they must be compelled to do it, no better way of doing that than removing their welfare privileges. Welfare should be granted to people who genuinely lost their jobs and are looking for a new one, not to the ones who aren't interested in working for a living.

Won't happen Rob. Here in NY that used to be the case. Unions stepped in to complain that jobs were being taken from them. Now they rarely get cleaned, $75 hr is too expensive.

The trouble these days is that dysgenics is currently being applied because of all the unnecessary social programs. Intelligent, educated, hard working people don't have enough time or money in some cases for children/family etc, whereas the idle lazy morons have nothing to do but multiply, expecting the same hard working, educated people to pay for them. Every week you want to administer a 40 dollar drug test (cost of text plus the workforce to give the test, test the test, record the test, tell the results of the test, put the test result in a database, enforce the results, fight the lawyer who has a problem with the test, etc etc...)

 

All of our problems can be solved with better politicians; so instead of these bible thumping, ten commandments should be the law idiots, I propose that all individuals seeking higher public office have to renounce god and religion and have an IQ score of more that 135.

I do think the idea of a basic license/permit of some sort to have children is not a bad idea. Maybe a basic IQ test and financial minimum. Don't see how that will hurt. If we need a license/permit to fish, drive, carry a concealed weapon, add a room to our house, etc. why not a kid?

Make them pay for the $40 test (annual application fee)....and then we change it to a Random drug test....

 

It didnt work in Florida because it was at the onset of application. You make it random, and you catch many more of those hitting the pipe.

If you have a child and cannot support it, then society will help you, but you have to sign up for a voluntary program that will require you to agree to have a birth control device implanted. Later down the road, if you can prove that you can support yourself, your first child, a second child, and repay your debt to society, then you will have the implant removed and move on about your business. Maybe this will motivate some of these people to get their lives in order and climb the latter. For the ones that just want to sit back and be a drain on society, they will be bred out in a few short generations. Problem (partially) solved.

Cut off the money. If we didn't subsidize these individuals having children they wouldn't make a career of it. Giving people a hand up has never been a problem, people living off the tit is. If you made welfare, housing et al a minimum of 3 months you would weed out a great deal of this.

That means even more crime. Would you rather pay more taxes and have these people away from you or have to worry if one of those people is going to crawl into your daughter's bedroom looking for a kidnapping victim.

I do agree with that to a point. Gentrification seems to take a good portion of that stress burden away. I don't live anywhere near where I think the majority of that would take place, I am out in the country a good bit. That said, I am fully aware that it could show up on my doorstep. The problem with that logic for me is, I think we are kicking the can down the road. What I feel is going to happen is that the welfare state is growing so large in size due to our actions as a country and the fact that we almost promote being on it, that eventually we will run out of subsidies for people and they population of that dead beat colony will be so big by then it will not matter how many guns you have. I don't know that I am right by any stretch, but I feel like a "nip it in the bud" mentality is a course of action to seriously look at. I mean, hell, look at the lady. She has 15 kids. She had them because she knew full well when the shit eventually hit the fan (which, lets face it, everyone knew it would eventually) the government would step up and take them in. Look at the statement she made at 2:28 into the clip, she told US, the citizens of this country, that we NEEDED to take care of her kids. She told us that "someone needs to come up in here" and make it better. That mindset HAS to be changed. That is dangerous, dangerous because it spreads. As the bumper sticker says, "don't spread my wealth, spread my work ethic".
