HannibalACP82 Report post Posted October 26, 2014 Its a quarter to 5 and I've been up since 3. Can't sleep due to the time change, going too bed at 8pm and the fact that my mattress is actually a box spring (once again I encounter the fitted sheet and a comforter, no blanket or sheet). I turn on the TV looking for football and I encounter KPOP...been stuck on that channel for awhile now! Getting photos off my phone and then more posts! HannibalACP82 Report post Posted October 26, 2014 Love the pics! That view from home is pretty awesome. Home is amazing! I will throw my gopro on the window and try to get some timelapse of the sun coming up and the tide coming it! I forgot to take a picture of dinner last night but we went for chinese. I had some sort of noodle dish with a ton of seafood in it. Squid, shrimp, octopus and sea cucumber (I couldn't bring myself to try the cucumber...it looked too nasty!) Great thread. Feel like I am traveling too. Keep it coming. That's the goal! Glad you guys are enjoying it. I will keep it coming!
HannibalACP82 Report post Posted October 26, 2014 Flight from GMP to PUS was uneventful. Easy, short flight probably due to the fact that the entire country is the size of the state of Indiana. I wanted to grab some shots from the middle of the country while flying but my battery was almost dead and I forgot I had a 2nd one with me for the phone. The topography was very unique. It reminded of my SOCAL with all of the mini mountains and hilly terrain with houses built in funky places. However unlike SOCAL everything was green on the mountains with the valleys all brown or golden. It appears that farming is huge here. Here are a bunch of shots of us circling Pusan and then coming in for a landing. It was really cool to see how the city has built around the existing land and out in to the sea. Here is my sweet limo bus that took me from the PUS to the Hotel. It was about a 70 minute drive which was relaxing even with traffic until the last 15 minutes when the driver got fed up and tried to do his best Andretti impersonation. Good thing I brought my own flip flops because I don't really fit in to the shower shoes.
HannibalACP82 Report post Posted October 26, 2014 You must be jetlag. You mean between ICN and GMP. I too wish they have a limousine bus service between ICN & PUS. There is a chrysanthemum flower festival held in mid-October in SK annually. Actually, 7/11 in SK is owned by a Japanese company. They have plenty of weird food available in there which you would never find at home. E.g. they have (or at least had) a drink that goes by the name "Puke" (not kidding). Damn, so much for the house-warming present! Hella jet lagged and that KAL Limo Bus is still the best way I've traveled so far this trip! I wish I had more time to explore the flowers at GMP! I will be skipping "Puke" but I've seen the funky flavored doritos and the like online before...I aim to take some home as gifts for some of the guys I work with. HannibalACP82 Report post Posted October 26, 2014 Got my first taste of driving yesterday and it wasn't too bad. NYC style only on much tighter and windier streets. I enjoy driving though so I wasn't too stressed. There are 2 lights on the way from the hotel to the plant that I've been told are "optional" and prepare to be rear ended, beeped at, or straight passed if I stop at them. There are also 2 shady intersections between here and the Korean Housing that some of the FT guys are staying at that would be 4 way or even 6 way stops in the USA that are more thunderdome here! VCR Report post Posted October 26, 2014 I must know who this KPOP star is: Slow down, you are jumping the gun. Plenty of fish in the ocean as far as the K-Pop and/or the K-soap opera stars are concerned. (Then again, you likely know that already.) Enjoy the scenery as this is probably the best time of the entire year to travel in SK. Neither hot nor cold, neither too dry nor too humid. In about 3 weeks' time, unfortunately, things would go downward. How did you like the traffic jam in the city?

Hahaha I am jet lagged, not sleeping right and have been watching KPOP since 3am so I might not be 100% there right now! Weather is beautiful right now...I hope to go for a walk once we are done for the day and I plan to explore the pier/beach area outside of the hotel tomorrow morning around sunrise. The traffic was something else. I need a helicopter.

The traffic was something else. I need a helicopter. Can't say I did not forewarn you about the traffic. One of the things that I dread most is attending dinner in Seoul or Pusan where the hotel is at one place while the dining venue is at another. The host, being ever gracious, sends a chauffeur to pick you up which you can't really say no to (otherwise, you are insulting the host), so the poor chauffeur crawls through traffic, picks you up, crawls through traffic again and the cycle repeats itself after dinner on the way back to the hotel. You are totally helpless in the car. You can't fall asleep if the host comes along to escort you back to the hotel. A 90min dinner ends up being 4hrs+ due to the commute! VCR Report post Posted October 26, 2014 Oh, almost forgot, you might have more chances to check out the flowers. As afore-said, in mid-October, Chrysanthemum Flower Festival is on throughout SK. Some of the larger parks in Pusan, especially those near the beaches, might put on exhibitions of chrysanthemum; some may even hold contests on who cultivates the best bloom.
