capt_chaos Report post Posted April 29, 2015 Yes that lotus that once upon a time created some fun handling light cars but now can only afford to make cars using sellotape and chicken wire... Yes those guys want to make an SUV and are going to take on the sublime Macan. Clowns.
Livethedream Report post Posted April 29, 2015 I have an Exige and while fun to drive the thing is a glorified go kart. Quality control is definately lacking. My wife just picked up a Macan S. The thing is pretty sweet. Knowing what my Lotus is like and what the Macan is like I'm going to speculate a fail on the part of A Lotus SUV. Even if they do hit a home run their marketing sucks so no one will ever know about it.
Smash Boy Report post Posted April 29, 2015 Damn, Lotus making SUVs is just something else..... Not the car industry I grew up on.

IanMan Report post Posted April 29, 2015 Wait..... Captain Chaos, correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere that this is possibly going to be manufactured in China, if not from Chinese components?.....
Livethedream Report post Posted April 29, 2015 So I reading more about this the factory will be in China and is a joint venture with a Chinese company. It may share parts from some proton cars. They are going to sell them in the Chinese market and maybe Europe. Eventually they could come to the U.S. So a plastic, steel and carbon fiber SUV from a company not known for quality control being manufactured in China. Not holding my breath for this one Lotus. koenig928 Report post Posted April 30, 2015 Its pretty tough to beat Porsche in this segment. Even though it will probably cost near double the new Cayenne turbo is at most sports cars level in performance. http://www.carscoops.com/2015/01/take-that...hp-porsche.html Lotus is a real niche market, do the owners really need an SUV. Porsche succeeded because it has a wide customer base with families.
