Supa Report post Posted January 11, 2017 Driving tonight, and then all the gear lights started flashing... Then the car didnt change gears.. Oh no.. I stopped at the traffic lights and thats where it ended. Police helped me push it off the road, and I got a tow truck. Now to pull it apart and find the issue. Im going to fix this myself. It seems these hoses seem to blow often. Damn....

It seems these hoses seem to blow often. Damn.... Sorry to hear. That's frustrating. Is it a simple rubber hose? Could a future preventative measure be to replace the e-gear hoses with braided hoses (maybe braided hoses that are black in color, so they look stock in the engine bay)? Supa Report post Posted January 12, 2017 Well, IM going to keep you guys updated. Oil everywhere and it has sprayed all over the engine bay. It is egear oil, so hence I mentinoed the hose breaking.. But can I find the leak .. NOPE! Egear canister is dry. The egear lines are a PAIN in the ass to get from the gearbox to the junction box (Under the egear filler bottle). It looks like the sub frame will have to be removed along with a lot of other stuff. I DO have a QUESTION folks.. CAN THE CAR BE STARTED WITH NO AIR BOX? Im going to refill the egear bottle and start the car to find this leak. But it cant be done with the air box on the car. Thanks in advance for your replies. P.S : I am taking pics in my phone and will post them up soon.

ATL_ Report post Posted January 12, 2017 Life is too short to putz around with this. Just take it to the dealer and tell them to make it work. Assman Report post Posted January 12, 2017 Talk to 05lsv. One of the Texas dealers sells upgraded lines. If your changing your lines out may as well get better ones. The lines may cost less than OEM ones too.
Supa Report post Posted January 13, 2017 I found the culprit. It had a good split in it. Lambo wanted about 4k for a set of hoses. I disconnected the bad hose at the gearbox. Then took the right wheel off, wheel trim. This gave me access to where the egear hoses connect too. I disconnected the hose there and pulled it out. Took it to the local hose shop, they used the same end and made A brand new hose for $100. Cost me $50 for a litre of egear oil. Fitted the hose, bled the air from the system. Turned the ignition on, and went through the gears. All was good. Put the airbox, wheel arch and wheel on. Test drove and all is neck to normal. Costs.. $150 tow truck $50 oil $100 hose $48 for the really awesome bleeder. Total $348. Add $1 for the can of degreaser too. I had to spray the gearbox down and make it all shiny again. Supa Report post Posted January 15, 2017 It would have not been too hard to change them all. And that makes perfect sense. BUT, I wanted to make sure I could get the first one right... Now, I know I could change one out in under 30 minutes. Although this one hose, was visibly worse for ware compared to the others. PS: I was wanting to post pics, but it wont let me upload them from my phone.

Yeah that's what I meant. You can do something better with your time, whether it's making more money or just spending the time doing something you enjoy. It really depends on what you are into. Some people might enjoy working on their cars while others might want to drop it off and play golf, go hiking or tend to their avocado trees instead. Exactly, on point, the only thing I can "sell" is my time if the mechanic is $100 an hour and my time is worth $1000 why would I even contemplate it? They will then say, use your spare time, almost none available and that's extremely valuable to me because I use it to recharge. The other point I would like to make, I hate taking jobs away from people, we are all an intricate and required part of this massive "organism" I just like to stick with my part and allow you to stick with yours. Either way I'd would rather be a lazy rich guy than a whiny, frustrated individual.

The lines may cost less than OEM ones too. Call Lambo Newport Beach. They sell custom made replacement hoses that they install in all Gallardos with this failure. OEM fitment and higher pressure handling than OEM. I think they charge $500 for the full set. Better than $3800 for OEM. Supa Report post Posted January 31, 2017 Hi Guys, So.. when I need the lawn mowed, I hire the lawn mower guy. As its not worth my time, nor do I enjoy doing it. The Lambo is different... It's my new baby. So if my baby has an issue, im going to investigate myself. I love my car, so I got stuck into it myself. I cannot express the feeling I got, to have not only found the fault. But to fix it as well. I have since done an oil change and filter, and air filter service. And it took under an hour. Again, the feeling I got from it, was awesome. Next will be the clutch... Im looking forward to the challenge. To bond with the car, to really KNOW my car... It's exciting.. But I know this is not for everyone. Thanks for reading. joeelutz Report post Posted February 8, 2017 Thanks for sharing. I'm getting ready to change a leaking egear line on my 07. Care to share how you bleed the line? Did you just break it loose at the banjo bolt? It looks like the actuator has bleeder screws but they are on the bottom and you have to take the actuator off the transmission to get to them... theSkeptiks Report post Posted March 2, 2017 Great job finding the issue and fixing it yourself! What year G do you have? I ask because I read recently that 2006 and older potentially had this issue due to a weaker hose and that they were upgraded in 07 and newer...although the post above claims to have this issue with an 07 so maybe what I read is BS. Also, when you can, please post your pics and a mini tutorial...just in case I ever need to do this with my 2006. Thanks :-)
