slowfiveoh Report post Posted October 10, 2005 Youre on a lamborghini board, and youre praising a saab? C'mon now. This section is about cars other than Lamborghinis, and the talk had moved on to whether FWD can be fast cars. I have no need to "praise up" a Saab, but simply state that FWD cars can be made to be a lot faster than what people think. Wrong Wrong Wrong. 11s is not fast. 10s is not fast. In today's world, 9s are not fast. 8's ... now those are fast. Show me a $50K FWD car in the 8s ... you can't. There are PLENTY of $50K RWD cars in the 8s. 252lb-ft of torque is a joke. 400lb-ft is a joke. Saabs are a joke. For whatever it cost someone to put that Saab into the 11s, they could've had any RWD car with a small block into the 9s. Bill in Brooklyn http://www.nhrasportcompact.com/2003/drive...m_crawford.html http://www.nhrasportcompact.com/2005/drive.../s_Carlson.html http://www.nhrasportcompact.com/2005/drive...ergenholtz.html http://www.nhrasportcompact.com/2005/drive...s/j_callos.html http://www.nhrasportcompact.com/2005/drive...rs/n_hoyos.html http://www.nhrasportcompact.com/2005/drive...s/J_rhodes.html Thank you come again. Weakest comeback I have ever seen. Difference between those Sport Compacts, and every other rwd class in the world is that the RWD cars are either back half cars or door slammers. Those cars posted are the end all be all of fwd import drag racing. They have full tubular chassis, in a body off style setup. Look at those cars right there and then look at a 6 second Pro 5.0 car. Kinda similar eh, except knock two seconds off for the rwd counterparts down the 1320. Wheels are on the wrong end. So while people are screwing around with those FWD, tubular chassis, fiberglass molded body, non interior having, not a door to be found, creme of the fwd crop cars, Mostly Domestics and a few Imports running RWD class are in the 8's with license plates and insurance. Thank YOU come again.
Iceman Report post Posted October 10, 2005 That's easy... '05 LOTUS ELISE! New from dealer (not the ones that have gouged the price either!!) $43K. 0-60 in 4.6, and unarguably the BEST handling in anything under $50K, if not $500K! For another $6500 from Force Fed (Installed BTW), Turbo charge it and then it gets 0-60 in 4.0!! Let's not forget that it's a true Exotic car as well! Nuff Said =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> The Iceman

Upgrade Network Report post Posted October 24, 2005 Evo 8 MR. Upgrade the turbocharger, simple bolt-ons, brakes, coilovers, tires, and still be fast as hell. AWD launch definately will help 1/4 times.
Devin T Report post Posted October 26, 2005 The evo and wrx would be nice out of the hole and in the 1/8 mile. But there is no substitution for displacement. I would have to have go with the Camaro or Mustang. With 20k in drivetrain and motor, that equals supercharger with juice. A couple shot of juice (NOS) progressive stage that could be good for 275-375hp alone. 3:73 or 4:10 final gear, slicks to hock up with a nice pretty spray bottle of VHT track bite to soak the tires in. Hell with 20k you could shorten the rear end and tube the damm thing. I think I'm lifting the front wheels off the ground and a high 9-10 sec pass all day. And since your just spending money for a fast time and you don't care about looks you could gut the thing and maybe have money for a big block instead of the small block. OHH boy I'm getting excited !!!! 454 BB stroked to 504 c.i. supercharged with a fat shot of juice. YEAH,,, I will nickle and dime that thing and not even have wheel wells or a hood on it, with a hacked up fire wall. I dare a jap trap to step up to get beat the fcuk down!!! hahaaa!!! fastlambo1 Report post Posted November 4, 2005 Lol. A big block, blower, juice, and then you gear it down to 4.10s? Thats got to be the most cockeyed gearing I ever heard off. Anything over 3:23s and you might as well just start out in third gear. Good luck with that shit. Its always funny to see someone with a little knowledge "internet build" a car. orhan Report post Posted November 5, 2005 $50,000 will get you into 11's, 10's, even 9's w/ a lot of cars. i think an evo or sti is the best way to go. here's another example: -$30,000 -- 350z -$20,000 -- twin turbo + built motor/forged internals ------------ +500hp, 10 sec. 1/4 mile on slicks
