IanMan Report post Posted March 11, 2017 After today, it really does seem like values are dropping. High bid of $210,000 for this car with less than 6K miles. http://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/1987-lamb...tach-5000-qv-4/ I also received word that a 1986 QV DOWNDRAFT (NOT FI) sold for $335,000 including premium. islandguy Report post Posted March 11, 2017 High bid numbers aren't necessarily an indication of value but if they were this one is a great deal. I've never bought into the BS value talk that has so prominently taken over the forums. All the high value talk has done in my option is given some the audacity to shit on anything that isn't perfect which is why many have dropped off the discussions. Maybe if we get back to $150K values we can all enjoy the patina, talk about the wrenching, and just drive.

That shit is just to help pump up values. People keep trying to push the $750K Downdraft talk and yet one sold for less than half that, lol. I want one of these cars so bad. Fortis Report post Posted March 11, 2017 It's impossible to discuss values with such old cars, the condition can be so different from car to car, they can only be priced case by case, two identical cars, same years, same options, same mileage, one trashed needing $100k in repairs and one mint, how can you look at the auction price of the trashed one and assign the same value to the mint one or vice versa ? It just doesn't work.
Allan-Herbie Report post Posted March 11, 2017 Ha, I know you get excited every time you see what you think is a low bid. The fact is the QV FI, has been sitting for a long time. Factor atleast a full mechanical restoration if you can live with the spider cracked paint throughout the car. If your going to paint the car, you might as well factor a full restoration into the price at around $250k. Additionally from what Ive seen at the auctions, Countach's at full euro trim sell for more than cars still wearing their U.S. DOT bumpers despite what Joe Suckey thinks . The DD sale again indicates that Joe Suckey is yet again full of shit in his endeavor to inflate DD prices. If you want a DD, you can easily import one legally today. They are easier to find than their F/I counterparts. I dont know why some of you are afraid to drive your cars regardless of price. Thats what insurance is for. Ill drive mine the same whether its worth 100k or 1 million.
IanMan Report post Posted March 11, 2017 Ha, I know you get excited every time you see what you think is a low bid. Lol! I know, I can't help it. I'm pursuing a dream which is why I get excited. I know a few others do agree with me as far as the depreciation in the last two years. The fact is the QV FI, has been sitting for a long time. Dry rot and fraying wires definitely come into play. To me though, having a "brand new" countach would be incredible. I'd rather spend the low dollars on a car like this, have it restored and drive the shit out of it every week for the rest of my life. Whenever I do manage to get a Countach, the first thing it will get is a restoration if it needs it. Ill drive mine the same whether its worth 100k or 1 million. ALSO THIS^^^ To me the Countach is the most beautiful supercar in the world. To me it is the fastest car in the world, even if it's not moving. It will forever be a car and a work of art that I cherish. When I first saw the red 5000S that Roy has, in person, my heart started beating like crazy. It had always been my favorite color combo on my favorite car, but seeing my first regular bodied Countach in person was an experience I'll never forget. I felt like a kid again. I was the one who did turn down $750 on my white white down draft because I can't replace it. black black downdraft going thru full restoration if someone wants it $750 wouldn't even grab my attention . I love James' car! It's so beautiful. I was hoping to see it when I was in LA, but I don't think it was brought out to any events that week. The car doesn't make a lick of sense which is why I love everything about it! It's ridiculous in every way! I think you, me, and Allan are in the same boat. Also, on a side topic, I love what LV Eric told me when I first saw his 25th in person. He told me the car is still generally fast by today's standards and feels fast too! I love hearing that from someone with 2 Diablo GTR's, an F12 and a few others. The Countach has just enough power in todays world to keep it interesting. I wouldnt dare try and race any modern car though. Fact is, Countach doesnt need speed to be exciting. My favorite drive is in 3rd through the canyons, listening to that motor popping and rumbling away.

Countach and my Diablo make my Murci and CGT nonexistent. That being said my CGT gets alot of attention. I think because its red, and people connect Paul Walker. I didn't know the fuel injected CT cracked and popped like that. I always loved the hiss and whistles of the carbureted version. I surfed the the canyons in my M3 Sedan a few weeks ago. It left me in awe and with the desire to get back to LA no matter what I have to do. I dream of the day I can do it in a Countach and drive the Canyons again. IanMan Report post Posted March 14, 2017 That's for a DD too! Right?! Funny that you want to move here, yet those of us who live here generally all want to GTFO. I'd of course buy a home in AZ or Vegas so I could go shooting once a month haha. I loved it in LA man. Some of the people I couldn't stand, but I loved the atmosphere, the sights, the sounds, the cars, and the places to drive! It was a dream come true. IanMan Report post Posted March 14, 2017 Wow, that's incredible. Tough to determine the condition from those photos and lack of additional information about its maintenance, but still. Compared to how much the abandoned one in the barn that had rusted and been shat on by mother nature had gone for, I'd say this is awesome. Yeah, the Robert Rusie cars in New York. I think the resto costs on that Rusie DD added to what it sold for would put it at twice this price. Restoring this would be a bargain compared to that, IMO. Plus rosso is prettier. BTW, have you heard or seen anything more of that car? key03 Report post Posted March 14, 2017 I believe when Geno sold it it went to Eastern Europe. Sold for $430K I think and in need of $200K + worth of restoration. One of the worst condition Countaches I have ever seen. So, there you go. Tough to see a sale like this for $335K now for that buyer. I still have no idea why that car sold for so much when there was a double white on silver wheeled DD in I believe Switzerland for $320 at the time and it was in great shape.
